    There are a number of freeze dryer machines available but some of them are better for running them continuously in a business operation. I would recommend starting with the Harvest Right brand and start with the Large and then upgrade to an XL as you start increasing your customer portfolio and sales. What Mylar bags do you use ? Do they have a wax coating? Was wondering how your ink stamps dry on them if they have a coating.

    We decided to sell using pre drying weight to bag the product and are selling 4oz, 8oz, 12oz, and 16oz packages or tubs. Our lowest cost is $15 and highest cost is 45 dollars and we offer free shipping. Your thoughts?

    I'm trying to find that 12 gallon bucket you showed. Your link pulls up a 5 gallon. Any help would be appreciated. I have an XL machine and the trays don't easily fit into a 5 gallon, even without a lid.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  Před 4 měsíci

      I've updated the links to a 7 gallon bucket but you're right I they are no longer listed. Best option is to put an order in with ULine and make it large enough with other items to make the shipping cost worth your while.

    @freezedriedbusiness you use packages for things like Nerd Clusters and Jolly Ranchers? Mine crush if I use bags 😞 so anything "Crushable" I have been using containers. I get stickers they are about .02 each.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Yes I have found the Nerd Clusters give me the most trouble but Jolly Ranchers have't been crushed too much in the bags. I like the container idea, just haven't transitioned to them yet.

      @TamingTheWild12 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I use deli containers for milk duds, jolly ranchers, caramels, Nerd clusters, & peach rings. Otherwise they use become dust! Everything else goes in bags!

    Just wondering...do u give credits to the candt brand..such as skittles...jolly rancher etc...and how if u u do

    • @Amsayy
      @Amsayy Před 10 dny

      You don't have to because it's considered transformative afaik. As long as the ingredients are okay and you're not marketing jolly rancher you should be okay. That's why most people brand them as "jolly puffs" or something (mine are called happy ranchers lmao)

    I just want to freeze dry snacks for personal use. I want them to be used up within a month. How can I package them for that?
    Also would the drained water be beneficial for plants.? House plants and garden plants?

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  Před 2 měsíci

      Package them in a zip lock, they stay dry for me for several weeks for my kids snacks. Drained water for plants is great, I do it all the time.

    Jury still out on my purchasing a freeze dryer. I’m not interested in a business, I’m 75 and live alone, and just haven’t been able to justify its purchase. I have two children with their own families who both live nearby. If they would “join in the fun” I could justify it. Space is really not a problem. Just confused. Wish you could help me decide.

    • @user-rj1ml1ez6t
      @user-rj1ml1ez6t Před 4 měsíci +1

      I get it as a person alone. Ask your children and show them some of these videos. My 11 year old granddaughter came to visit over Christmas. She had a blast helping me with freeze drying. There are so many things you can preserve long term.. I make a lot of soup, stew and chili for my husband to take to work for lunch or eat when I do not want to cook. Freeze drying is fun for all. You may also want to check out John in Bibs on youtube he has a great channel.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  Před 4 měsíci

      It's an expensive machine compared to other preservation methods but if you use it for home use while also selling some products on the side, it helps make your money back and then you don't have the stress of the cost.

    A couple observations. Shouldn’t the scale be NTEP certified. In addition since you’re selling it online and shipping it cross state lines I thought USDA has authority and FDA applies Therefore you would need to have nutritional information.

    • @freezedriedbusiness
      @freezedriedbusiness  Před 4 měsíci

      Like I said in the video, different states have different food laws so until they pass you off to the FDA to regulate your food business then you are going by the state or county laws. I’ve done the research. Your second question on nutrition is answered in the video, you’ll find all link to the FDA website in the video description.

    • @ollieandson
      @ollieandson Před 4 měsíci

      I have done the research and we are a licensed commercial plant facility. We don’t have some cottage food licensed that any Joe off the street can easily get. I don’t completely agree with the advice your giving and don’t agree that you should be selling online and across state lines with a commercial cottage license and using a scale from Walmart so maybe a call to the USDA is the best option.

      Hey there Ollie...
      I wonder if you were the kid in 3rd grade that had the lanyard on his mittens so they were clipped to the sleeve of the jacket.
      Are you actually worried about a gram of candy one way or the other?
      You have waaay too much time on your hands.
