So basically, I have to cut Thyme after Thyme? There is a song that explained it to me already
If you're too late harvesting is it no good to harvest with the flower on?
My thyme has flowers can I still harvest, dry and use?
Me too, and I didn't cut back last year. We may be too late
@@nicholaswalker9078 I did find some information saying that yes we can dry it with the flowers on it because they are edible and you can put them in tea.
@@mistyriennett5902 oh good!! I thought I was going to have to "cut" my losses. Good detective work!
Yes, you can still use thyme even after it has developed flowers. However, the taste may be a little different (not bad, just different). The flowers are completely edible.
How much of the plant can I harvest without killing it?
no more than 1/3, let it recover in between harvests
What about bugs before you get in the house? Do you wash the bundle before hanging? I hate bugs in the house and wouldn't want to bring them in.
I don't wash them before bundling, but I do give them a vigorous shake to dislodge any insects before I bring the stems indoors.
