Just a bit of warning, I had this amp for a set of tweeters and it lasted 1 week. I contacted Taramps and they told me contact the closest US distributor, in my case North Carolina. What I found out is, for warranty repairs you are responsible for covering the cost of shipping to and from taramps. So i'd have to spend $60 for shipping for repair... I chose to spend my money elsewhere.
I have been running this little amp for about two years and love it! running one 12'' kicker and two in ceiling/wall bose house speakers! and two small compact bookshelves in my sprinter van. What's crazy is I have it wired to a 12v cigarette line which was just to test but didnt pop any fuses or get hot so I never ran any dedicated wiring lol
That just means power you are getting very low wattage from the amp. Your current consumption is limited by what can be supplied by the cigarette lighter. But if I t plays well enough for your needs then it's a win.
Ive been running several of these the past 2 or 3 years without any failures. They are perfect for offroad setups because i can place them in water/dust proof containers and run 4 speakers and a sub off of them and not worry about the heat so much. They take a lickin and keep on kickin.
I used to do that for my Suzuki samurai years ago, def for water and mud. Use a few grommets with silicone and they’ll go under water for at least two days until you could get the tractor running and get it unstuck!
I literally installed this amp Friday. I had a bass 3k on no gain overpowering a scar sub. Put this in and was shocked at how much power it puts out. And in case your wondering I have it on 1 ohm and it’s holding strong. I wasn’t worried because it’s my third taramps amp and they always handle low ohm. Definitely a lot of amp in a super small package.
I have this amp powering some alpine 6.5's, been working great. It actually replaced that cheap massive blaupunkt 4ch amp that died lol. Best part is, this amp can be mounted anywhere in tight spaces so it saves a-lot of room.
I have a blaupunkt two channel amp, which gives 110w at bridged, from the 2010 . And it's powering a 8 inch very soft suspension 150w subwoofer in a sealed enclosure.
Not a bad start out amp for someone. If someone did start out with this amp i would over spend the extra cash towards the wiring kit though. Try to run as low as you can afford with a fuse block in the rear somewhere. Then when you upgrade the lower gauge wire is already there for the more powerful amp. I always overkill on the wire in all my rides so i only have to do it once😂.
Oh its bad, for anyone.. look at all the comments. "I have had one of these amps die within a few months/Weeks/Days, company wants you to pay shipping both ways for warranty work"
@@crisnmaryfam7344 I will have to look at what the warranty is and covers. Depending on the warranty, depends on if it is worth buying though. As far as someone's going bad, that can be from a few reasons or just a bad amp. Some people assume they also know what they are doing and don't even adjust a amp the correct way, so I cant comment on why it would go bad.
@@crisnmaryfam7344I did see where shipping to them for repair is on the buyer. That is normal with most purchases online though. Now if it bought at a audio store that might be waived by the installer though. It didn't say anything about the cost to return the amp back to the buyer though. Might want to check on that though. 😂 Im not saying this is a Great deal for everyone to go out and buy one either. I just said if someone was looking for a budget amp and was starting out. To me the watts for a sub isn't enough for me to ever buy this😂. This would be great for a young teen or adult thats starting out in audio and not looking for a lot of bass😅. This would give a little thump in thr back and make a good set of mid and highs sound goos till they upgrade. That was also the reason I said to put that extra cash in wiring😂. The bigger the amp, the bigger the wire😅. Or they would be replacing the wire for a second time.
@@crisnmaryfam7344 all audio equipment I've had fails. I had a JL amp blow right out of warranty. Take both my subs with it. I was wondering how many watts it actually pushes. Thanks for your great work. Inever thought the amp was doing its rated power. But its great for my 2 seater.
One thing to be aware of with these IC Class D amps is the upper end frequency response. They're supposed to have some form of LRC filter on the output to remove the switching spikes. This leads to a preferred matching for speaker impedance. A mismatch, say 8 ohms vs 2, can roll off the upper end above 15 kHz.
while i mostly understand what you mean, can you clarify a bit more regarding impedance? if its rated at 4 ohms, are you sating running it lower would change the frequency response?
@@OxBlitzkriegxO In a word, yes. The difference between a 2 ohm speaker and a 4 ohm one may not be much if the output filter was designed for 4 ohms but if it was designed for 8 ohms, as is common in home speakers, then the difference might be noteworthy. Unfortunately there's no way to tell short of the vendor giving you that info (or somebody tests results). Now it maybe your source material doesn't have much content that high or you're over 40 and your ears no longer hear those harmonics. Then it's a don't care.

Exactly, I already posted something similar. It would be PERFECT for a portable 3-way active speaker if it had defeatable crossovers and a 3rd input. Would be even cheaper for them to make because I don't need the filters. I'd buy them by the truck load.
Lmao, same thing came to mind. Crossover defeat is a no-brainer, bummer that they failed to implement it. Couple of these and DSP, you'd have a solid 3-way front stage.
I think most people have issues with amps, when they just don't know what they are doing. They mosy likely run them with low voltage because they didnt upgrade their electrical, or clip the hell out them.
Hello. Loving this review. They make a 2.1 amplifier by drok that is a class a b amplifier. It is rated at 80 w * 2 and 120 watts * 1 for the subwoofer. It is only $25 and I am using it for my subwoofer alone currently and I am liking it quite a bit for the money. I think it would be a great review for you to try. I know most of the amps you test are car amps, but have you ever tested or checked out the Fosgate Audionics FAA 1000.5 5-channel amplifier? Not that I know of. I've got a tri-amped active (DSP) 3-way floorstander in the works, utilizing 3x Fosi Audio V3s for amp duties. It isn't portable, sadly. Could be portable, technically speaking, you'd just need 32-48V DC at 15-20A and a small supply for the DSP board. Much more complex than a couple of these amps and a lithium car battery, though.

This amp is interesting. Does okay but honestly didn’t impress me. Reason I say it’s interesting is the sound is clean but power isn’t all there. But I will say for current price of $70 not bad.
Sad that you cant believe what the companies advertise in their products anymore.... Specially in their spec sheets. Do they even dyno test their amps before sending them out for delivery? Or do they just simply slap everything together on a circuit board and say its rated this much?? Because I think the second question fits more than the first one. They slap everything together then judge the wattage without any dyno testing what so ever. I think that because almost all the amps on this Wilston's channel are dyno'd and the fact that most of them did not meet the rated advertised power?? Should be offered a complete refund and keep the amp because it was false advertisement prior to purchase as a consumer.

Its about 70/100 euro
Is it as good as an old Alpine 3522? Those things were tanks.
Precision Power TRAX1.3000D DYNO Been seeing this amp a lot jus curious
The chip inside that mini amp could do double the power that is putting out RMS and still be ok

I had an mtx just a little larger than that amp in size had it pushing three 12 JL audio and it bumped
Well damn you could buy two and really double up on the subs and cover all your doors at the same time.
Would this be a good solution for Bi-amping a coaxial center channel and powering a single 8”?

Please test kicker 4 channel marine amplifier
Can i use 10 inches subwoofer to that amps?
Am I missing where the gain is located
That power chip that car amps is using at Texas instruments chip they're only using a third of its power
Sounds good to me.
Awesome 😮
No bad, but personally I would save more $ and buy another amp. On a positive note, it might be good for a motorcycle system.
Can we get taramps big boss 3 please
do the big boss 3 they just released please. same smart technology but for 1-2-4 ohm loads. im thinking of getting one and trying them out but a dyno would be nice to see if ut really does rated or over on all ohm loads
I have one here to try out so it will be shown in a few weeks. Have some other brands coming first 👌
Hey Big D, I have an Infinity reference 7541a amp BNIB I would like to have dyno’d. How can we make this happen??
What kind of skar 8 is that? N what size is that sealed box? I have one in the house for a home theater sub on an 100w plate amp it kicks ass!

This amp is interesting. Does okay but honestly didn’t impress me. Reason I say it’s interesting is the sound is clean but power isn’t all there. But I will say for current price of $70 not bad.
Just just just got it then I see this lol
Headunits should just come with 40wrms @ 4 ohm x4, like my 2013 Sony
Nice 1
I feel bad for hifi vega for buying that pos taramps head unit if u want to even call it that lol.
👍👍
Screw down terminals is a deal breaker.
Sure if you don't mind RF noise.. i purchased one, and the amp sucks..
What’s a Jiggawatt?
😂 I can tell either you are trolling or you are young by that question😂.
Should actually be 'Gigawatt'.
It was missed pronounced in back to the future. A Gigawatt is one billion watts.
