This film's story was entirely constructed around how Vin Diesel and the Rock absolutely could not stand to be in each other's presence anymore (in the one scene the characters appear in together, it's very noticeable that you never see Dom's face). The crew went on to solve this problem by spinning Hobbs off into his own series.
And as a consequential result, Hobbs doesn't appear in F9 nor will appear in the finale two-parter.

At this point, I feel like their feud is one giant pro wrestling style angle they've both played into. There is no doubt in my mind that Rock won't show up for the finale.

I think out of the four of them, Eric has the best perspective about these movies. "This doesn't make sense." "Shut the fuck up! Who cares!" Yes, the series has basically become anime in live action now. And god bless them for it.

Same, after I stopped caring about all the technical shit and I was like ok let me just sit back and enjoy the dumb action movie for what it is, this became one of my favorite franchises to just binge, laugh and enjoy
@@Bonesforall i dont have a great analogy for this but, the reason the original point break was so great because it was just SO bad. The remake tried to be serious and was terrible. Movies that know what their 'box' is and know what they are , end up being extremely enjoyable.
Imagine F&F taking itself seriously would have ended after a few movies. They know its over the top/not realistic and stupid - and they own it.

THIS is exactly why I love watching movies with other people!!! When I watch by myself I sometimes get too critical of all the details. But when I saw this in theaters, with friends, with family and now with Blind Wave it's an absolute blast and I laugh super hard every time. Each group I watch have unique perspectives and references. Blind Wave kept talking about Speed Racer and where Dom started from (stealing DVD players) My friends would make Top Gear references. Others bring up the other roles the Actors played in other movies, so on and so forth. Every rewatch is so much fun. Thanks for this!

Imma be honest, the sheer stupidity of this franchise is WHY I absolutely adore them. The dumber the better. F9 had me CRYING WITH JOY at how dumb it got, and I can not wait to see them top it! That said, Hobbs and Shaw is my favorite. Everything about it is perfect levels of awesome and dumb.

With the success of Furious 7, The Fast Saga became the highest grossing franchise in Universal Pictures' history.
F8 for director F. Gary Gray (Set It Off, The Negotiator), was his biggest film ever.
Diesel & Johnson's partnership started to fall out during the making of F8.
It wasn't personal beef.
Surprisingly, It was professional.
They rarely appeared on screen together because of that.
Johnson & Statham get more screen time together and it's a good build for the upcoming Hobbs & Shaw spinoff.
F8 was expected, yet unpredictable.
A lot of twists and turns for an sequel in the saga.
What was kinda cool is F. Gary Gray directed 'A Man Apart' (2004) with Diesel.
Also directed the 2003 remake of The Italian Job with Statham & Theron.

Don't know if you know this but "Mr. Nobody" is actually Clint Eastwoods son Scott Eastwood. If you look at pictures of Clint when he was young you'll notice Scott looks pretty much exactly the same.

You can actually see 2 stick shifters in the beginning race where dom had to finish in reverse. I think they said in some interview that they used a tractor transmission which had multiple reverse gears. I don’t remember there exact words but that’s pretty cool.
When I heard "yeah daddy's gotta go to work" I instantly thought what about all of the moms on the bleachers, also when you mentioned the cry on command thing I legit only heard Sensei Lawrence yell "cry" then "QUIET"

The car in the beginning really had a 3 speed forward/3-speed reverse tractor transmission mated to a small black chevy engine in real life. So although obviously it was not a real stunt, mechanically speaking, if the driver could pull off the Rockford J turn and he was say in 2nd forward gear, he would then shift into reverse 3rd gear and be able to accelerate like he did, as a gearhead and hotrodder this was a very cool production fact

OK so the nuclear football codes are usually on a plaque of some sort and they aren't just a simple input of numbers, it is thought that the codes are extremely long and it's not a simple task to enable them. It is done that way I think because computers etc can be hacked this means that it's a hard copy that stays with the individual in a safe case with guards. As far as I know it's a two or three people step process to access them and use them. One person couldn't use them alone
The fact that these movies keep getting crazier and crazier. I think lends towards the theory.. that that Dominic toretto is actually Richard B. Riddick. Living out his days on earth.
