Just saved one from the junkyard yesterday. Pumped to get it going again!
These were such dogs from the factory but so easy to get performance out of with simple porting and compression increase along with a rejet. Absolutely one of the most beautiful enduros ever made!
Had one! Grandma bought it new. Knobbies made it a real trail bike. Turned sixteen got an endorsement to ride on the street. Great memories.
Loved seeing the old speedometer with the little neutral light. Damn the memories.
D W almost gives you that nervous feeling like when you first started riding
Yea I’d does..
I use to dream of those bikes but my Mom was an ER nurse.
I had the xl 250 in my early teens and, while a four stroke, it looks so similar to the MT 250, brings back great memories. Keep the videos coming!
My 1st vehicle 73xl250 looks really close
Oh man that's my old bike !!! I'm in love .
Sick work, from this bike to the ATC-185 this guy makes these amazing machines even better 30 to 40 plus years later...Love the work.
My friend had one of those in the early 80s it got riden daily
I had two. One mint. One i kept for parts, due to it having a bent frame, from a previous accident. To this day, i regret ever having sold the thing.
My Dad drove me around town on that exact bike bout 1980. I sat in front of him.
Had a 1974 TL125 Trials bike. Looked just like this bike basically except it had silver/blue color scheme
I had one new in 74. I stripped the bike and beat the crap out of it. Never broke or failed. After 5 years pulled motor to rebuild top end. Someone stole frame and all aftermarket parts. Still have engine and all parts stripped from brand new. Looking for rolling chassis. GREAT BIKE!!!
I bought a brand-new 1975 (silver/red tank) mine smoked like crazy and paid $1200 Canadian this bike sounds solid, I bought a xt500 thumper the next year.. worked my arse off while attending school
Totally agree Ken I bought two MT250’s . One with only 2000 miles and one with 600miles. Not the fastest but they are loverly to ride and a very pretty bike and my wife rides one too.
Are your right they’ve doubled in value over the last few years. A good investment that you can ride. You can’t beet that. Well done once again great vid Cheers from U.K. hopefully see you at farleigh castle after all this nonsense is over. God bless
One of those was my first bike. I learned to ride on the way home with second and third gear blown. Great urban commuter.
I've figured out to do YT searches to find specific bikes on your channel. I wanted to see this bike and here it is, exactly as I remember. Yes, this bike was a lot of fun on the hilly dirt roads of western PA. I always thought the screaming CR, YZ, and RM were awesome with adrenaline filled riding, but bikes like this matched much better with what I was doing and the terrain I was riding in. I rode plenty at night as well.
I just got one today going to be a fun project
I own one now🤟
I got a 73 mt250 with 1800 miles on her. Runs like a top.
Man I'm in cali if I'm ever out that way I'm stopping st the museum for shur .
Dream bike.
Watching from manchester uk love your passion for the 2 smokkers always a good watch just saw the new cr 500 keeping the 2 strike alive good man
I had one, raced a couple of AHRMA cross country races on it, Gatorback and Diamond Dons.
In the 70s there were a lot of them running around. Street legal and good off road.
when i see bikes like these that ive owned i feel bad for beating the shit out of them when i was a kid but id bet money these old bikes can take more abuse then the new bikes
Your tugging on my heart strings
again aren't you Ken!
I'm not telling that childhood
story again.
The exhaust on the 73' MT250
with the green stripe down the
tank is called a pickle muffler.
No shi$$.
Its story time Denny! Let's hear it!
I'm picking one up Saturday it's dressed up like a CR
Awesome bike!
Listen to that thing purr
I just wish I was surrounded by vintage bikes every day, I really do
Sweet bike 👍
I’ve got a 1973 with the silver/red scheme on it. Needs some parts
I have two 1974 mt250's
❤
Had one at 14 wish I had another
Wow I love it classic. Supr cleen
me and my 2 buddies bought one of these at a garage sale, for $75 20years ago..."$25 each, why not?"
Didn't it have turn signals..??
Is there anyway for it to not smoke so much ?
I’m looking for a 75 MR175 😎 ? good luck !
Why does title say 1975 and he says 1974? What differences were there?
I bought a 1976 all original with 2,000 miles and the original Nitto tires (cracked ) but still in good condition they hold air the bike is a time capsule being in excellent condition just could not pass it up
How much?
Is this sold?
How much? i am intrested
Clean antidepressant
The only problem with riding a 40+ year old, all original, two stroke is that the crank seals are 40+ years old. That's an air leak timebomb waiting to happen. Lean seizure.
Any idea what a bike like this would be worth today ?
your a big guy ken, even that bike looks to small for you.nice bike tho
Color= Duronautic or oil rubbed bronze
