  • I make my own baby wipes - did you know that they have a huge list of chemicals in them (and we use them to clean our precious baby bums)
    I find this the best recipe and way to do them personally.
    I have had heaps of people ask me to show them how to make them the way I do so thought I would put this up.
    Takes less than 5 mins to do and is cheaper than buying wipes too.
    Edited to add...
    Lots of people have asked the exact ingredients, it's a basic decor tellfresh container, viva papertowels, coconut oil and biologika body wash (this is one of the more natural ones I've found).

    I love this recipe, but I would cool the water before pouring into the plastic or use distilled water from a bottle. When heated, plastic releases a chemical known as Bispenol A in large amounts. We don't want our baby wipes loaded with BPA. Thanks for introducing me to the idea of using coconut oil. I like the idea of a natural germ killing wipe! These will also be great for makeup removing and facial cleansing.

    And..... so much better than store bought wet wipes!
    Here in South Australia we can dispose of paper towel along with other general organic waste in our kerbside collection bin, which all gets sent off to a commercial facility for high temperature composting with the ultimate end product being garden soil and compost!

    Thanks for an uncomplicated recipe, but one of my concerns would be mold growth. Hopefully, the natural antibacterial properties of coconut oil help to stave this off.

      Thanks Pam! I find it fine if you use within 2 weeks but if you want it to last longer or the weather is really hot it helps to add a couple of drops of tea tree oil

    If you do plastic containers it's suppose to be warmed first . For glass hot because hot isn't good for plastic and the chemicals!

    hi there. i really wanna make these. i have some questions.
    Firstly do you have to use soap? what is the purpose for it? i prefer not to use it most of them are not natural and i dont know if i like the idea of leaving soap on their bottom.
    Secondly how long do the wipes stay good for? do they go mouldy at all?
    Also how long does a roll last you - 2-3 days?

    • @joyratima3247
      @joyratima3247  Před 8 lety +2

      Hi there,
      They stay fresh for 2 weeks or longer. You can add a couple drops of tea tree oil to prolong life if you like.
      I add natural soap as I like them like this but you could try with just coconut oil. Maybe an essential oil blend also?

    • @rexyvall
      @rexyvall Před 8 lety +1

      +Joy Ratima thank you. im assuming the soap helpas to get the poop off. has it been used on little girl bits? im just worried it will make it itchy and uncomfortable for them 'down there'. like if you dont rinse soap of in the shower sort of thing. just curious thats all.

    • @joyratima3247
      @joyratima3247  Před 8 lety +1

      +rexyvall it is such a small amount in the whole container so would be pretty minimal per wipe. They don't feel soapy but you could change ingredients if you wanted :)

    • @umisrahabibity1363
      @umisrahabibity1363 Před 6 lety +1

      Coconut oil would kill bacteria and prevent diaper rash. You could make a whole lot of containers full of the wipes and not worry about them going rancid.
