TRX is the keeper. One of a kind truck. IMO. Morning Ben
My retired friend now that makes sense!!!😝👍👍😝😝
@@leedanielson7452 Lol. Hands down…. Good morning 🤙🌞
Gotta plan for the future fellas gas prices are going up that's why I bought the Raptor not the TRX. Being a firearms enthusiast I needed an offroad truck to take me out into the desert so I could enjoy my hobbies of overlanding and shooting that lifetime supply of ammo I bought dirt cheap back in 2018 that's tripled in cost since. Again plan for the future and prepare for it ahead of time.
Well said. I ordered a TRX based on your feedback from many of your other videos as well as not being able to order Raptor for MSRP with less than a 9 month wait time. Glad to see your perspective comparing and owning both trucks. It's been very helpful. I actually got to drive a TRX 2 days after ordering mine. I was NOT disappointed. I like going fast and this truck is going to be amazing, fun, fast, capable, and also hold value very well IMHO. I'll continue wafching your channel to see what you do next. Thanks for being a no BS channel that speaks from facts and experiences rather that only ever giving specs that anyone can look up. 👌
TRXs will acrue in value over time. It will be the true widely available V8 super truck.
Yes same as well all of the ford dealers In my are in St. Louis mo had allocations for a raptor but was charging 5k-15k up charge so I gave them a middle finger and got me a 2022 raptor ordered with no markup! And this is coming from a guy that drives a 2020 f150 5.0L
@@justiceforharambee8235 same. Ordered my 2022 TRX 2 weeks ago at $6500 under MSRP. (invoice).
@@slow8r how did u do thatv
@@lyc5018 Couple dealers around the country taking orders at 4% under MSRP. The closest at that price was 2000+ miles from me. Instead I asked my local dealer if they could match it. They could not match 4% under Invoice but they did offer me invoice. Price difference is about $3300. For the cost for me to drive my trade 2000 miles and the TRX back 2000 miles, plus gas, food, hotels, and a week+ off work, I decided to place the order with the dealer local to me. Order placed with deposit on 2/21/22, went to D1 on 3/11/22, scheduled build date of 4/1/22. Dealer estimates delivery in early May. Price is locked.
Does anyone know if it will be near impossible to order the raptor R? I had a 2010 for 9 years which I loved, traded it for a 2019 and have always missed having a V8. If the R is going to be limited I may want to see my options with the TRX…anyone have any idea on order times for that? Thanks in advance
I gotta agree, that TRX is special. I drove by a Gen3 the other day and I was shocked how narrow the backend looks compared to the Gen1 and Gen2. That is kinda always the appeal is the wide body and it seems like Ford got cheap.
They didn’t get “cheap” - I have had 2x Gen2s (currently in a 2020) & they only improved upon what was already the best offroad truck, period. I do agree the Gen2 exterior looks better than the Gen3, almost like they tried to make the Gen3 more refined or “grown up”. The removal of the larger “FORD” tailgate appliqué that drops down on either side (not straight rectangle shape like on Gen3 now) I think makes it appear narrower, the fenders do seem to look pinched in but the overall width/size of the Gen3 is basically the same.
I agree. It doesn't look as "butch" as a Gen 2 in the back.
@@MS-mr4zm I ended up just ordering a TRX to park next to my Gen1 Raptor. I had a 2017 for 4 years and 70K miles, but the V6 just left more to be desired. I am not going to wait on Ford to build a limited supply V8 Raptor that most people could never afford even if they wanted to try, Ford would never give them the opportunity to buy. I am pretty impressed with Ram's process and no need for allocations. If you order it, they'll build it. I hope to have mine by the end of June.
@@Mursedave hey man they’re both awesome trucks it’s all personal preference if I could have both I would lol, but….save up some $$$ for gas bro we are headed toward $7/gallon!!!! 3 years I’ll be ready for a new car
I thought the Raptor with the 37s can tow more than the Raptor with the 35s. Am I wrong about that?
Both trucks are great I just hate the interior in the Ford I was even looking into buying a 5.0l f150 and the brown with the black in most interiors is ugly and that's where I would spend most of my time but I do love Ford's seats they are very comfy but ride is a bit harsher great vid Ben!!!
I agree, unfortunately I've never had a chance to drive a 3rd gen, but for me when I was shopping, the TRX was the truck, the 3rd gen just seems like a heavily modified f150. But the rex is different, the powerplant, chassis, esthetics, it every kids dream to own. The raptor is a great truck, but just missing something so for 90k I it was the rex for me.
Ram no brainer, easy pick! I had a few fords and they are made so cheap and have so many problems these days.
Driving both of them is a good suggestion if you can get your hands on one of them.
You can use rentals like turo to get seat time
get the tips for the paddle shifters
Props for this video, either way you went would cause controversy. Respect your opinion of the TRX, but as you stated it looks like a Rebel/typical ram. I'll keep my 3rd gen Raptor for all the good things you stated and much more. btw...ive owned a gen 2 and various other f150's, ranger, mustangs, explorer, expedition, f350 all with NO major issues.........so I'll be sticking with Ford for the foreseeable future.
Same, FORD always the best
Lucky every ford I've had has had major problems with low miles. So I stopped buying them.
Sounds like a new raptor R is the ticket for you Ben!
Ben you are absolutely correct! The emotional connection is most important in life…..🤔
One is Rated the KING OF TRUCKS and one is full of lawsuits. I'll take the 🐏 ♈️ 💯
RAM KING- You tell em!!!😝👍
@@leedanielson7452 had both and you can see what I own..tired of the crap Ford puts out...RAM-1500 KING OF TRUCKS 👌👍
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS ram is far from king of trucks 😂 remind me did the trx complete Baja from factory? 🤔
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS Name 1 Reliability rater that has Ram above Ford....1. However, if you're going to buy a muscle, sport truck then the TRX is solid.
@@justinproffitt6149 consumer reports named Ram #1 so give me yours 🤣
The trucks themselves are close, the price is not. You’d get way more money for selling the TRX and you keep the truck that looks way better outside. Interior is a mixed bag, but the off-road performance is also much better on the Raptor.
Much better? I'm not sure it's THAT much better for the average Joe.
Ram is nice but still a Ram ,the Raptor GEN 3 looks and rides much better I had some time in both and went with the Raptor all day
I love the TRX. Everything you’ve done to it looks fabulous especially the orange wrap. Interior is definitely more premium. Ford has a cheap look.
cheap look how?
I don’t know about the Raptor looking cheap but I think the TRX looks sleeker, if that’s a word, and more comfortable.
The door panels and air vents look cheap on the raptor. The trx is just another level on most accounts.
I wouldn’t say cheap look ! You couldn’t afford either one ! Ford raptor is a proven off road baja winner ! Ram is heavy and you don’t need 705 horsepower on rough terrain and trails ! And the gas ! Super charged v8 drinks the gas
I agree inside and out the raptor looks cheap. But it was nice before ram raised the bar for luxury trucks and it's hard to beat.
RAM is definitely a keeper and that is certainly a no brainer!!!😝👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wish trucks were affordable again......🤷♂️
I am a GMC man but the TRX is the best looking made and if I could afford it, I would own it.
The TRX will pass anything but a gas station haha. Great video
I had kept the Raptor, Looks and Legacy!
Ram,the gen1 Ford was alot better looking. I don't like the rear I rap over the dodge Logo and have design your our for the trx should add amber lights light strip in that scoop
#benhardy
TRX fer the win no brainer' Ford came up short
I do have TRX and Raptors
Evidently, I need some financial advice. I have no clue how someone could afford to purchase two new high performance trucks for North of 160 grand. Plus tolerate the staggering depreciation of value, not only the minute you sign the paperwork, but as the years drag on.
Have you looked at the car market? Raptors are selling for 20-30k over msrp and Trxs are going for 10-20k over msrp. That’a called appreciation if you buy one cheap.
Temporary situation of price gouging.
The TRX is great (never drove one) and I love the sound when you start it up but I would probably buy the Raptor bc Ford!
Trx is the best truck on the market right now. Raptor is so awesome truck Ford put their truck on the market
MOPAR OR NO CAR !!!!
Though I would probably never own either truck, really don’t like my vehicles too flashy. I’d probably choose the raptor, just love the overall design better. Power train way better on the trx though
the power train isnt better its better if you see it in a way you wanna go fast the raptors power train is reliable 450hp is plenty of power and it can reserve gas better
I’ll take both. 😆
Looks are subjective... I definitely disagree with you when it comes to the look of the truck. The TRX IMO blows the raptor away with it's appearance/looks..
I wasn't a truck guy, i had a BMW M3.. But the first time i saw a TRX i was amazed... IDK how you came to the conclusion that the trx looks similiar to the ram rebel.. The trx pulling up on my mirrior caps looked insanely aggressive and mean... It was pretty clear just from the appearance of the truck that this wasn't a "ordinary" truck... I did my research found out it was a TRX and a few months later traded my car for a TRX lmao... 🤣. Couldn't be happier.. But the presence of a TRX is far more menancing/aggressive looking then that of a Raptor.
Raptor all day !
Get that Raptor R then remake this video
Question is which one did I not buy 😆😆
😆
Ford? Never!
Goodbye Ford hello. I love the dog better than the Ford
They say oil is headed for $150/barrel which would put gas at $6-7/gallon for regular and I'm not sweating it. This is the reason I chose the Raptor over the TRX because we all knew gas prices would eventually go up and I dislike Democrats having control over my finances more than I dislike having less horsepower.
Unpopular opinion: TRX. Hear me out. Until Ford brings the R, and from what I'm hearing it will be in ultra-low numbers where nobody will be able to get one(a la Ford GT), the TRX will simply hold that desirability in terms of V8 power and speed. Raptors are truly a dime and dozen and frankly, does not represent Ford's halo engine, since the Powerboost is wayyy more torquey and faster.
Looks are indeed subjective. Although the GEN 3 has grown on me, I still think the GEN 2 side profile is more macho. And I'm a little over the "Ram looks like a Rebel" thing. There are similarities, but you definitely can tell the difference. The headlamps are completely different, as are other bits.
I do like that you can change the suspension on the wheel of the Raptor, but its not a chore to hit the TRX button and change it on the screen.
Raptor superior running gear- tranny, axles, T-case (can handle more power in 2wd), diffs, bushings, ball joints, shocks…..Raptor weighs 650 lbs less & has 3.1” shocks while the TRX Bilsteins are 2.5” w/ more weight over the nose- not ideal! If you want a more reliable off-roader w/ better MPG & more range & prefer more nimble handling the Raptor is the better choice, if you want a truck that’s better than most offroad, but can EASILY “outrun” it’s suspension (Raptor can also but that bar is much higher), but you like/need that V8 rumble & SC whine- you need the most power from factory & don’t wanna worry bout warranty w/ a tune (tuned Raptor basically equal to a stock TRX acceleration-wise since it’s much lighter & has better gearing) & you value luxury materials over sporty feel then the TRX is better choice for you. My biggest gripe about the TRX is it really negates use as a DD w/ such horrific MPG or as an overlander w/ the slightly smaller gas tank & much worse MPG you’re going to get 150-200 fewer miles out of a tank! If I’m gonna get “hellcatified” & want more seats/AWD I’m going w/ the Trackhawk of Durango over a TRX
Here we go we got Einstein of offroad but the fact that you say Ford's 10spd is better than zf 8spd is the reason why I called you delusional last time 😂 axles can't handle power but awd puts more strain on a drivetrain than rwd common sense also the fact that you mentioned mpg and you offroad is another biased opinion when I know for a fact both these offroad open throttle get about 5 mpg there's a lot of biased in you and makes it impossible to have a proper convo with you
@@dor1tomcswagger69 it’s the same trans in all the big GM trucks, the Camaro ZL1 etc. it’s a good tranny & 10 speed + 4.10s > 8, you’re never in a bad gear.
@@dor1tomcswagger69 I like both trucks I just prefer the Raptor for a bunch of reasons I keep mentioning- & mpg/range definitely matter offroad (on road important too)….sure AWD puts the power down, but sometimes 2wd is more fun & the handling is more pure, and if you got 700hp it’d be a lot of fun to be able to put in 2wd…or 2wd w/ the diff locked if offroad lol, & that’s a bit of sticking point for me. Btw- you CAN run the Raptor in AWD, they have a unique wet clutch transfer case (only used in Raptor) that allows for seamless quick power transfer to the front wheels & has no chance of binding on dry pavement doing 15 point turns lol- I have had GM & other trucks that have a “4auto” feature but there’s a noticeable delay to when the front hubs engage, it’s not as smooth & there can be binding more wear/tear vs the system the Raptor has. Yes awd (and 4wd obv) puts more stress overall on the drivetrain but the rear end/axles better be plenty stout along w/ all the rest of the drivetrain components to handle the stress in 2wd too. I don’t like driving in AWD when the roads are dry & the weather is nice….I don’t care what the power level is, so again….be nice to have 2wd.
@@MS-mr4zm I agree with you about rwd but I do know the trans tunes zf has it down packed trans grade shifting is better as well tbh I thinks it's the oil Ford uses on their 10spd a lot of complaints about shift points and you have to replace the oil at 60,000 where the zf needs it at 100,000 don't know if the oil gets dirty and creates problems for valve body. There's also a huge difference between GM's 10spd and Ford's even though they built it together trans tunes make them a lot different
@@MS-mr4zm and for the suspension bilstein did a great job If you see streetspeed video with autovlog they both jump their trucks and you can hear when they both overjump the landings in both trucks were harsh which tells me the bilsteins are a lot better than most think the TRX is a lot heavier but the results are surprisingly good if compared to the Raptor Bilstein knows what they are doing yes the suspension is smaller than the fox but for the size and the TRXs size I think they did a fantastic job
These paint jobs are why most people driving both trucks get such a bad rap. Real bad.
Looks are subjective and numbers are not trx has way more HP it’s a better truck period.
241 and 248 are numbers too. Those are the number of seconds each truck took to do an off-road race. The Raptor is 241.
i would keep the raptor. but the ram trx is awesome
The trx suspension just didnt feel as dialed in compared to the gen 3 raptor. Its just a daily driver for me and the raptor fits my bill better. If it were my toy, im taking the trx....
Never buy a green car or truck.
TRX 100%
The Raptor looks and drives way better. Best riding truck ever Better than the gen 2
Nah. The gen 2 is the best looking truck on the road.
Ford Will never measure up to the king!!!!🤔
Ford is the king , why they will measure lol?
@@hotrod7603 No
Ford has been the king for 47 years. Until 2019 when they finally separated from Dodge completely, Ram was always third on the pecking order. It was universally recognized that Ford was #1 and Chevy was #2. Besides, out where it’s supposed to be used, the Raptor WILL beat the TRX by a wide margin, and the Raptor R will make the gap even larger.
💪⬛👍
It’s amazing how many people comment on this and don’t own either 😂
My GEN 3 Raptor is hands down the best truck on the market. I came from the TRX and it was 300 in fuel a week insurance was 130 more a month and it just doesn’t handle like the Raptor off-road I drove the TRX for about 8 months while waiting for my Code Orange Raptor and it was the best choice. All these guys saying this is better or that’s better can’t say much with out actually owning one.
The Raptors actually hold there value better as well.
Yes the RAPTOR is way better looking and better on off roading
FORD ALL THE WAY MORE RELIABLE BEEN AROUND LOT LONGER TRX HASNOT PROVEN IT'S SELF YET HORSE POWER NOT EVERY THING
🤣🤣🤣 how about the transmission and engine lawsuits..give me facts kid.
Jeff- Come on man everyone knows Ford sucks!!!!🤢🤮
@@leedanielson7452 had many and I should know ..Ford is full of big issues and regular service department needed🤣
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS there’s no issues
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS In terms of total number of complaints filed, Ram is actually the worst of the big three. There have also been examples of TRX’s regularly snapping tie rods and one even overheated when it was actually put to desert use. On the other hand, Raptors tend to last well over 200k miles, and this one is apparently way more durable than the last.
Raptor R gonna blow the TRX out of the water!
Hmm...maybe. But that truck will not be widely available and likely way more expensive. Ford has been dissecting the TRX for 2 years and still hasn't said much in details of the R.
They’re both overpriced trucks.
Raptor is sweet
