- This is a playthrough of Sonic Advance 2 on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
I've taken some creative liberties in showing off this game, as I wanted to get the smoothest run possible which collecting the rings in levels doesn't allow for... and really, that's my biggest gripe with Advance 2. Slowing down to find special rings in order to get to the special stages horribly breaks the pace of the game.
That being said, when playing without collecting the rings (I'd advise downloading a save file or using cheats like I have here so you can still play the final boss and see the true ending) Sonic Advance 2 is easily my favourite 2D Sonic game. The entire thing's designed with a great sense of speed in mind, which makes running through levels feel incredibly satisfying.

@@sussybakaboys6246 exactly. Cream is the most underrated Sonic character hands down. She deserves so much more love and fans. I wish she was in more Sonic media as a whole, she's always getting left out and hardly anyone brings her up as much as they should when discussing Sonic characters. It's sad. I love the heck outta Cream.

I totally agree. There were more features that really elevated the gameplay in contrast to the prior 2D Sonic games; one of the best Sonic games. This was also the game that got me into Sonic.

Sonic Advance 2 has some of the best music in all of gaming. Every single stage has a masterpiece of a theme.
Sonic Team spared no talent for this generation's gamers.

Reuploaded (again) because of a random frame flicker later on. It feels inconvenient to have to reupload an entire 50 minute video because a sixtieth of a second is glitched, but eh. Job's done now, all is right again.

I loved the sonic advance series so much, all three of them. But personally I have to say that 2 is my favorite, the control, sense of speed, music and levels are sooo good

@@shadowlord17762 Cream is actually much more OP in Advance 3, Cheese (the chao) has no cooldown, so you can just spam the attack button.

This game is single handedly the reason why I was so hyper as a kid lmaoo
Back then sonic was like adventure for the young such as myself exploring didn't know the save files which we keep pressing stuff until we learn something
It was alot of fun back then
I realize this game and so many other old games had good soundtracks like Lego ninjago For the DS and Super Mario bros

Oh the old style was nice infact we could go back since those old stuff are cheap in the basket

Such a huge step up from Advance 1... Legendary Game Boy title for sure.
I still think they made a mistake making the character bigger thus having less view on the level

@@cubbwatch The bottomless pits were actually worse in Advance 2, all the zones past Leaf Forest are a giant bottomless pit with platforms in the air, and don't get me started in the enemy placement...

OH MY GOD I WANNA CRY I LOVED PLAYING THIS GAME SO MUCH!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
A couple of cool tricks aren't being used in this play through that sonic can do... When you jump, you can speed sonic up by double tapping forward on the d-pad, when you go off a jump ramp, if you press the jump button at the right time, you will get a major speed boost, also sonic can do a trick jump if you time your jump right at the end of certain grind rails and it makes your jump much more effective (and it looks totally awesome). Sonic always has additional trick moves in any of his games that others can't do that significantly increase his speed and jumping abilities

Behold, my proper introduction to the series. I spent many years of my childhood playing this thing, even when I didn’t understand what I was doing. Gosh, I miss the old days! 🥲
This game had such incredible music and backgrounds. I hope some of the backgrounds got used as Saltybet stages.
The first 4 zones: run, twirl thing, double jump.
The rest of the zones: run.
Well, at least now I know where the graphics from Ultimate Flash Sonic came from. Took me long enough, honestly.
Man, I would've loved this game growing up. I was crazy into the flash version of this -- Ultimate Flash Sonic, since I couldn't get a portable gaming device at that time.

To be honest, this game is one of my lesser favorite 2D Sonic games. It feels like a style over substance kind of game. The game is faster than your typical Sonic game, but at the cost of challenge, making the game feel like it’s playing itself. Speed in Sonic games, at least to me is something that needs to be earned, and this game feels like it’s handing it out like it’s candy.
Say what you want about Advance 3 or the Rush games, but at least they have more depth and don’t feel automated.
Lol I remember playing the advance trilogy and rush on my laptop at 5 or less fps when I was a kid.
(I am not exaggerating it actually ran at 5 fps or less)

This game actually has the first iteration of the boost in sonic games! It became more like it is today in 2005s sonic rush.

Ok, I’m gonna say this. In my opinion, SEGA missed the perfect opportunity to make Cream Tails’ love interest, or vice versa. Before this game, tails never really had anyone to be compared to in a relationship. Kind of like Amy’s attraction towards Sonic when she was introduced in Sonic CD. Except in this case, Tails would have been a little more accepting of Cream than Sonic is of Amy. This was in development LOOOONG before Cosmo was created. I’ve seen fan art of Cream and Tails from 2003 and 2004, before cosmo was introduced, so to me Cream and Tails is just the better fit because cream was the first female character people thought tails looked best with. I’m sure there are a lot who would agree, and a lot who would disagree, but again, I feel like SEGA missed a good opportunity
