80s had a sound and look all it's own.
80s NYC freestyle dance....grew up with this music in PA! Brings back so many good memories. There's a huge library of this genre....Judy Torres, TKA, Noel, Sweet Sensation.... just to name a few of the most popular artists. Cynthia had another song Thief of Hearts that was really popular but not one of my favorites.

I'm from the Freestyle music time. I used to be a dancer on a weekly TV dance show. I remember Cynthia, Dino, Stevie B, Coro, Sweet Sensation, Noel, TKA... Sigh... And then I became a rock drummer a decade later 🤷🏽♀️

I'm about to turn 50 and am going through my "reset" period, where I'm allowing the child in me explore and live life as an adventure (again). Raised a child, had professional jobs, recently moved from NY to Florida (my home state) and not quite sure where the path is taking me but it's kind of exciting jumping into the unknown 😀🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

Freestyle music in the 80s & early 90s!! Reminds me of going to teen dance clubs! Judy Torres was/is the Queen of Freestyle. TKA, Sa-Fire and Jody Watley were my other faves and Lisette Melendez's Together Forever is awesome. Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam were fun too. Check 'em out!

I crank up the radio for any Cynthia song...Thief of Hearts, Endless Nights, Dreamboy/Dreamgirl (her duet with Johnny O, another freestyle icon you should check out), you name it. You've only begun to scratch the surface of freestyle: there's Shannon, Johnny O (pretty much the king, Cynthia was the queen), Trinere, TKA, and several others.

This was a song from the clubbin' freestyle days of the late 80's. Trust me when I tell you that I danced to this in the clubs every weekend. I miss those days badly. Roller skating was a late 70's early 80's thing. I love that you young bloods are making these videos. Great job!

I highly recommend "Come Downstairs and Say Hello" by Guster. Saw them live in Morgantown WV early 2000s and Brian Rosenworcel's bare-handed bongos/cymbals playing is a thing of beauty. After the song we found him out in the corridor icing and wrapping his swollen, bruised and split hands. I won't ever forget it!
