They weren't raised by their parents. Their extended family are apparently deep church folk, so their childhood and teen years revolved around the church, with *_NO_* secular music allowed. The only secular music they know is from the last few years. They didn't grow up hearing the old stuff around the house like a lot of people do. I grew up in a house like that, too, but I was sneaky and rebellious, and the local library, my school friends, and their parents had great record collections-and my friends had cable with MTV!

Missy Elliott... formerly known as Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott... is one of the most talented people EVER to put it down. Rapping, producing, singing - she's the complete package. Check out "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" - her first single as a solo, then hit up gems like "Beep Me 911" (where she does more singing), "Lose Control," "One Minute Man," "Sock It 2 Me," and especially "Work It." All have crazy, top-notch videos. (There are more, and a lot of classic features, but this will get you going.)
