I'm a 45 year-old straight, white, male who grew up in rural Vermont, and I can sing every lyric of this song by memory to this day.
47, female, Scotland. Apart from that - ditto! Made me smile, a lot. Haven't heard it in years, still word perfect. Love it!
same. 41, southern alberta. im goin "how has she NOT heard this?!"
Hahaha!! YASSSSS SUH!!!! I’m 41 year old white girl from Mississippi... and SAME! 😋
Thought I was the only one, there awesome, powerful women
What does your sex and race have to do with it?
Spinderella is the 3rd, she’s the dj
She's the Ali Shaheed Muhammed of the group: in the videos, but does the work in the studio.
@@Theomite "Yo Herb, take it from the top. 1, 2, My mic sounds nice check 1..."
Herbie Love Bug was the man. Spindee only produced like 2 songs.
@@grandgnd True, but she still be in the videos. So was Ali, but he was always wondering why he was there.
True, Spindee was the DJ, definitely part of the group. When you saw them live Spin would DJ the show. Same with Ali.
✌🏽
Spinderella's not a fella, she's a girl DJ!
Salt n Pepa said men can talk about sex then they can too lol
And when they got with EnVogue on Whatta Man, OhLord
One of the most memorable mashups and videos of all time!
Wish the video quality of that one was better though. If you’ve seen a better one, would you mind sharing the link?
Big Jay 🤣😂
En Vougue was rad.
That's a great song.
Push It started it all. 30 years later and it is still a bit shocking.
Over 30 years .
I remember hearing this as a child but not actually listening to the words that closely. Listening to it now, thirty years later, I'm actually blown away that this was permitted on the radio then, because as you say, it is still risque today!
I was so happy when I saw the Geico commercial a few years ago 😃
Salt n Pepa were great and probably don’t get the respect they deserve. In the mid 80’s you didn’t have a lot of women who were rapping, at least not on the same level of guys back then. Them and Queen Latifah showed that women could rap as well as the guys.
Old school hip hop taught today's wannabees everything they wish they knew. These ladies were fierce and talented and let me tell you, as far as I remember, there weren't any color or gender boundaries placed on their success. They were HUGE and all around respected for their contribution to hip hop. Total pioneers.
Thank you. I basically said the same a few minutes ago 😊 we think alike
@@andreadeamon6419 truth is truth!
your comment cannot be voted up enough
compare this to that piece of crap WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallions
Salt-N-Pepa were strong women who could be sexual and feminine at the same time
the female rappers and hip hop stars today are just whores
Along with En Vogue and SWV.
❤️
When Salt'n'Pepa appeared on SNL to perform this, Patrick Stewart gave them one of the most enthusiastic intros I've ever seen. Ladies getting the boost from Captain Picard himself!

@@jowbloe3673 Thought he was gonna scream "ENGAGE" after.
Love Patrick Stewart.
The third is their DJ Spinderella! If it wasn’t for these pioneers, we wouldn’t have TLC, Destiny’s Child, or any of the powerful female artists we have now.
THANK U!! YES! I love them!!
Spinderella is undeniably the best name for a DJ
Actually the girls today have ruined what these pioneer ladies have done.
Andrea Deamon Probably because they don’t know the history.
@@moriahwhite1188 probably not. They're trying to take away everything
I loved this as it was a shot at the videos that were sexualizing women , they flipped the script. 👍
As a guy, I love it. “I like sex, but that doesn’t make me a sexual object.” And damn, those girls make me wanna shoop.
This is just objectification of men. It doesn't change anything it's people treating each other like they are pleasure objects.
Kantean Nightmare You must be super fun at parties. No, this is comedy. It’s absurd.
Not really. This is 93. Besides 2 Live Crew, Rap music videos were not really sexualizing women yet. That came more so in the late 90s.
So what is WAP all about then?
Arguably some of the more underrated rappers ever.
Back then it was the guys getting " dirty" about women in songs but Salt and Peppa were the first females to talk about wanting men in the same manner
At least they were until Salt found God.
Now this is my generation music. These ladies are legendary! ❤️
I can't believe you've never heard their music! Girl, you are gonna love this!!
_Whatta Man_ has gotta be next!!
AGDinCa:. Yeah it's hard to believe she's never heard this.
Yea, deprived childhood
Yep ❤️
They used to play this at the club all the time, and everyone jumped on the dance floor and yes, ... got naaaasty. It actually smelled like sweat and shame afterwards!🤣🤣
Hahahahaha yeah it did 😁
@juanjunior39 i know, it wuz stank!
100%!! Schweaty NASTY! 😎😎
Yes, yes it did. Lol
@@mlmartin2922 now all it smells like is some douche covered in axe body spray, talking about how he loves crossfit!
if you like salt n pepa, try listen to "Whatta Man" "None of Your Business" and "Let's Talk About Sex"
Seconded!
Don't forget Push it!
Add “Champagne”, “Heaven and Hell”, “Everybody Get Up”, and “Gitty Up”!!!!!
Whatta Man!
@@bekahnavarro And "You Showed Me".
You can literally pick anything from the "Very Necessary" album and its a banger.
Salt n Pepa have been on an 80’s tour with New Kids on The Block before the pandemic hit. They are still incredible. They were able to be “edgy” without being overtly vulgar. That is called talent.
The 90's was all about owning your sexuality and being okay with that.
Im a metal girl but absolutely LOVED this group and other female performers in the time who were flipping the script and objectifying men the way women had been. This time period definitely felt empowering for a lot of us girls.
Salt and Pepa and the 3rd girl is Spinderella ☺ They have another cool song called "Let's talk about sex" check it out. There's a video. Make sure its the original and not a remix ☺
The 3rd lady is their dj, Spinderella.
“Spindarella, cut it up one time.”
YES!!
That took me right back
i was only thinking yesterday, if you would cover Sal-n-pepper (and "Push it!")
I never really liked this song much but their song "Push It" is one of the very best rap songs of all time. Hope you do that one too.
This takes me back. Definitely gotta do more reactions from them.
Hello India ! Please react to En Vogue ! "My lovin' (you're never gonna get it", "Free your mind" (AMAZING video !!) and "Don't let go".
Yes!! _Free Your Mind_ is so damn good!
YES!!! Both of these!!!
And Giving Him Something He Can Feel...
Their cover of Yesterday is a masterpiece.
YES YES YES!
Would love to see a reaction to En Vogue "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" & "Don't Let Go"
Salt 'n Pepper? Push it!
I was definitely a fan of theirs when they were first performing, and I ALWAYS loved the smile of the first guy with the dice. Back in the 90s women of all genres were definitely about power and being unapologetic for being exactly who they wanted to be. Salt-n-pepa were one of the best at this. Check out En Vogue if you are unfamiliar with it- I think you'd like the one that says "giving him something he can feel"
They built this song around samples from the 1961 classic "I'm Blue (The Gong Gong Song)" by The Ikettes. Another risque hip-hop classic from back then that you ought to check out is "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground.
You might not be old enough to listen to Grandma's music. 😂😂😂 Our music was fantastic. You are awesome!!! Can't wait to hear more from you. ♥️
Omg ty..haven't listen to this in ages.
Young people totally missed out. Rap sucks now compared to back then
@ctguitarguy uhhhhh.... have you heard o lil' kim, trina, too short.....?
Some of the stuff is ok, just a different time and things change!
ctguitarguy remember Foxy Brown tho?
This stuff is old skool and it was an amazing time for music...then it moved into great dance music and techno...just as I was hitting the clubs. Which shows how old I am now but this would still get me moving.
AGREED!
This song is a classic and always will be.
Loved the way you said "nasty".😘
Let me tell you, Salt-n-Pepa can STILL rap like this. I saw them last year and they blew my mind. They're gorgeous, badass, and incredible!
You're taking me back to my teen years! OUTSTANDING!
You don't know about this😭😭😭😭...this was my JAM....Thanks for the memories.😂😂😂
I just love your reactions. You have great facial expressions and you really get in to the music and lyrics.
Salt N Pepa were awesome, so many great tunes, loved their whole attitude and sassiness!
Salt-N-Pepa were ground breaking in the Hip Hop world but also for the young women of the 80's. They were strong women of color exerting their sexuality and making it just as cool and normal as it was for the guys. Fan Forever!
I am old enough to remember when they performed this on Arsenio! WOW!!! In their prime, at the height of their success, their live performances were so polished and well done. Their skill made them stand out!
My god the 90s had the best music. Hip Hop, RnB, Grunge, Rap, House, Rock. I had no idea how good I had it in high school 😂
When someone makes fun of me being old, i remind them im an old white lady that knows all the words of salt and peppa, led zeppelin, and run dmc. I know some sh*t. Lol 😂
68 white and I know it too
More Salt n Pepa please. Plus, if you like this one, you should check out Toni Braxton's "Make Me High".
I remember when this dropped, I love me some SnP.
I went to one of their concerts about 4yrs ago. And I enjoyed it very much. They know how to make a crowed spin.
I love the way you say “She nasty, she naughty!” at 01:56 🤣🤣🤣
"Whatta Man" and "Let's Talk about Sex" are other good SnP songs to react to.
This my first time listening to them and this sounds 🔥
Welcome to yesterday, even a heavy metal head like me loved this stuff back in the day , no dissing all loving ✌
40 year old white boy here singing every word and dancing with ya ! Keep up the greatness!
Me too lol.. 38 white girl here.
Loved their songs , especially "Lets talk about sex!" :)
@@-belue-6697 Wasnt the TLC one "Dont go chasing waterfalls"? That was a sad song though
Love that song but don't listen to it anymore because of excessive airplay at the release time aaarrrgghh ruined another great song for me
Yep! Sex positivity and fighting AIDS
@@annettegreen6689 miss TLC! RIP Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez.
Funny story... this came out when I was in middle school and it was all over the radio. So I had to catch myself once when it was on the radio in the car with my mom... I started singing along and she turned and looked at me like... lol. Looove your reaction! They're awesome.
My mother and I used to get down with this in the car, in the late '80s, driving through rural Ontario, Canada. Keeping within the genre, please try 'Push It' by them and 'White Lines' (I don't remember the group). Great reactions...lots of fun and memories.
Loved this back in the day!! Brings back great high school memories!
Keep rockin S&P! None of Your Business
I second this request!
Old school?? These ladies were my heroes. Sex positivity!
Hi India, that's the beauty of PROSODY of old school....
spitting percussive lyrics riding in the funky beat
I find it hard to believe that she’s never heard this song before
She's about my son's age and he only heard it a few months ago. There is always a first time to hear something, especially something that was before your time. :)
The 3rd girl is spinderella..
They were so much fun. Music has lost its way
I think I was 12 when this video aired on MTV. I taped it on VHS and hid it under my bed!
I just had this come through my feed a year after you did it. Definitely an old favorite. You can see in the bathing suit selection just how different and how much more conservative salt was even back then. If you haven't yet, review none of your business by salt and peppa. Also an old favorite
0:22 0:32 0:41 - It's Salt and *Pepa,* not Pepper.
And Spinderella.
Loved this when it first came out - still love it nearly 30yrs later!
They were great! Loved them! Grrrrl Power!
I've been waiting for you to get to this one. I love this video, Salt n Pepa have always been great. You should definitely check out Whatta Man.
Girl I grew up listening to them !! They were so awesome 👏!! I am a 45 yr old white woman and they reached all people w their music .. ❤️👍
This song goes back to some of my earliest memories. My mother must have been a fan, jamming out to this song all the time, because I really can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of this song. Granted I was much older before I *understood* what the song was saying. :P
This song hit Scotland in the 90s. They were queens in my life. Whoop, yes...
Classic!!! Put on your dancing shoes. One of their best songs.
Salt n Pepa and TLC will forever be 2 of my favorite groups.
I’ve always loved them. Hope you do more!
Awesome song! Such a great beat. Honestly, this was your best reaction video ever!! Your expressions and shock was brilliant. Loved it
These ladies were and to this day are the most talented and fiercest women I've ever known😊
Yaaaasss!!!! The third lovely lady is their DJ Spinderella..., "Spinderella's not a fella but a girl DJ"...Oooo girl this was the JAM! They have a LOT of amazing music...so,so good! One of my favorite songs from them is "Tramp"... I can go on and on with the favorites by them haha. Definitely check out more of their music❤️
Your expressions are priceless! 🇬🇧👍💖
They really came out full force and said we OWN our sexuality, our style, our voice... they empowered so many young women to not be the image that men expect them to be, but instead be who they want to be! And, not to mention pushing back against men to stand back- you're on notice!
Salt-N-Pepa are great!!! I like they’re dancing as much as they’re singing. Love your reaction 👍🏻😂🥰‼️
I am mad i am just seeing this. SALT N PEPA definitely are legends icons still touring, still selling out venues, still givin u a show for money. If you havent yet do your research on them and add them to ya playlist. I am the biggest longest most loyal fan. They have a story as well. Their lifetime movie premieres on Jan 30 i believe. I havent seen it . I will be tuning in. They have a story. Shout out to the 3rd member Dj Spinderella who once again is not in the group anymore but we are praying they work it out a get back together.
LovE YA Video reactions India. You DiDn'T know HiP HoP was like this (back in the day) with females? LoL.. SaLt and PePPa (with the song Push It) are actually the ones that got me FuLLy got me hooked on HiP HoP music in 1987 and the rest is HiStoRy
Salt and pepa are rap queens they are my favourite rap artists from America. I am a black female from the UK. ❤❤❤❤ Love from the UK ❤👍🙏
I worked with Salt n Pepa for a year and a half on their last album "Brand New". Ground breaking.
Oh yeah. Salt and pepa with their DJ spinderella. She did perform on some of the songs. They wanted to show they could be just as forward as male performers. Check out "None of your business." One of my favorites
Hard to believe this is nearly 30 years old. It banged then, and it still does now. Need to check out their other material. Also check out En Vogue (who Salt n Pepa also collaborated with).
The percussive rap/vocal rhythm won't fail you........superb rhymes❤❤❤
What is my weakness? MEN! I just love that line! Thank you for spinning one of my fav old school rap jams.
Salt Pepa and Spinderella! They are awesome!
Enjoying your reaction then my internet froze at about the 3 minute mark when that one hottie came up on screen the look on your face like ur fully enjoying it. I didn’t realize I froze I thought u paused to take it all in 😂. Loved Salt n Pepa back in the day. Should see how we danced to Push It. There was a lot of provocative songs back in the day. U should check out 2 Live Crew for that 😆
Yeah I love me some Salt n Pepa plus Spinderella. I think she would faint at how we all used to dance to Push It haha another classic, raunchy and hot.
Ha! Haven't heard this in decades, still word perfect! LOVE IT!
Took my 11 year old to their concert last year. He loved it!
I'm white from the UK into rock music but this band have always made my ears twitch and I can't help listening to them!!!
BTW I seem to gravitate to your channel on a regular basis, if it happens one more time I will HAVE to subscribe.
Loved watching you bop to salt and pepper... you the spice...
Fair chance you'll see me blastin this in my convertible on a hot summer day. Love it. Reminds me of fun times!
great reaction! LOL, thanks for bringing back great memories ;)
You should see the Superstition video with Stevie Wonder, Jody Whatley, Salt N Pepa and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Best version of the song ever.
SRV...hell yeah!!
Oh this was one of the jams back in the day!
Yeah, it’s old school, early 90s, when I was in high school. 😂
57 and still loving Salt-N-Pepper :) Thank you, India :)
Salt N Pepa has been preaching female empowerment since waaaaay back in the day. This is my JAM! the third is Spinderella, the DJ. Check out "Whatta Man" with En Vogue.
Salt n’ Pepa was the first rap group I loved. Brings back memories ☺️They performed with En Vogue (another amazing group from that era) at the 2018 Billboard Awards and it was amazing! Check it out if you’re interested. Love your channel by the way, keep up the great work 👍🏼
The song comes from the 1961 song "I'm Blue (The Gong-Gong Song)" by The Ikettes, who were Ike and Tina Turner's backup singers.
