If you burn yourself in the kitchen or anywhere else cut open an onion and put it on the affected area for about 10 minutes, it will burn a little but you will not have a blister nor any mark left on your skin. I’ve used this all my life for my family and friends when the case presented itself. Advise received from my grandmother over 60 years ago.

When I was five I was eating an apple and a wasp landed on it , needless to say it stung my tongue. A gypsy told my mum to cut a slice of onion and put it on the sting. This drew the sting out and prevented me from dying as my tongue swelled like a balloon.

I didn’t read all the comments so I don’t know if someone already said the tip I will tell you for onion skins, one of my sisters older friends told her and it is GREAT TIP..... take your skins and put them in with your eggs when making hard boiled eggs, the skins turn the shells a slight brown color, and when you put them back in the carton in the fridge after cooking, you will ALWAYS KNOW which are cooked already and which are raw....

I want to share a little Red Onion remedy to prevent the excruciating pain of leg cramps. For years, I used to suffer with bad leg and arm cramps between 2 to 3 AM. Since I learned from an old southern lady's video on CZcams about a Red Onion poultice for arthritis. Now the cramps are gone; but return a few week later without this remedy. Easy to do: Mix 1 large red onion with skin in a blender with 1 cup of Epson salt. Blend for 5-min until it you see it turn into a red paste. Wrap any area you want in a poultice for 24-hours. Your skin will absorb a little quercetin from the red onion skin, and the magnesium from the Epson salt. As you try this, you will realize this remedy is easy to put in a sock or a glove right after a shower just before bed... Sweet dreams baby !

Here's another Red Onion Remedy development to enhance your poultice a little. I put my leftover remedy in a sealed dark bottle or little thermos to protect it from light and keep it until it is used up (about a month). Further easiness is to nourish the skin, add together Coconut oil and a little teaspoon of Thyme oil or fresh Thyme for extra Anti bacterial, Anti Fungal, and Anti Viral properties.

Back in the 70's we used onion skins to tie dye T-shirts, as well as tea bags and coffee grounds, even carrot peels and celery leaves (but you need a lot of those two in order to dye fabric), beet juice and other food items.
Place any of these in a large pot of hot water to which a cup of salt is added. Allow it to soak in. Depending on the item and how light or dark you want the shirt is what tells you if it's ready to remove.
Let it sit overnight, laying flat or dripping (preferably outside!), the next day, hand wash with very little detergent. Rinse well.
      Air dry.
When it's time to wear, wash again in the washer as you would do with other clothes.
If you want to make a line, use rubber bands on various spots on the T-shirt, binding the material within the rubber band as much as you can. You can also pull some of the fabric out of the rubber bands, or insert the fabric as deep as you can go with it into the rubber band.

I've watched somebody use those to color yellow eggs for Easter. It was a natural coloring. Like Green foods are for green and Red foods for Red like beets.

I can vouch for union peels as fertilizer. Difference can be seen within days. I meant put onion peels in water then use water to fertilize plants.

I heard that onions skins aren’t good for the compost because the worms don’t like it…too acidic. Same goes for garlic skins, but I could be wrong.

Good to know, because I’ve been throwing them out, but keeping all the other veggie scraps for compost, and I hate throwing anything out, if I can use it, in some way. Thank you so much😇

wash skins and place in any soup or sauce you make. Remove skins before serving. Wash eggs, place some olive oil on your hands and cover eggs. cover your eggs entirely with onion peels and place in oven for about half an hour, They will cook without breaking and will have absorbed most of the nutrients in peel. Very tasty as well

I use the skin and burn to clear the air. Works the same way as if you cut an onion to clean the odor out the room.
If you have lots of onions. One can cut one in half leaving half in each room that smells foul overnight. Also the option of placing a cut onion by your bedside it helps with nasal congestion.

@@boredweegie553 thank you, noted however if they would like to clear out the scent fast over a large area the onion would be a better option. As a secondary scent they can boil lemon with cinnamon, coffee with lemon and cinnamon, or cinnamon nutmeg allspice. Your favorite essential oil in boiling water smells great as well. 😁 What other scents do you suggest?!
