Had no idea what I was expecting when I first loaded the game.
Same here. First time I booted up the game recently I just sat in awe at the beauty of the music and setting in the title screen. Reminded me of the MGS3 ending for obvious reasons.
Not gonna lie having to download every map before the new level started for me at the time was kinda a drag but was well worth the wait

Always was a sucker for somber, if not melancholy, guitar themes that seemed simplistic but carried incredible weight...
Whenever this theme played for Snake, I could almost FEEL how exhausted he'd become; and yet the man STILL carried on in the fight...
It's so much more somber when your grandpa who's a real life Vietnam veteran looks like Old Snake in MGS4... And I'm not lying about that, he smokes the same way, has the pornstash, and would just need that bandana to be complete.

@@DatMentalGamer But there something odd about Metal Gear Solid 5. Snake is still young with ponytail hair, and one of his arms is a bionic arm. But in Metal Gear Solid 4 he's old. Man that was weird.
@@jonathanmichaelsihombing that was not solid snake. it's venom snake. he is Big Boss' most trusted trooper that was recruited during Peace Walker. (and was then given facial reconstruction after sacrificing himself for Big Boss during Ground Zeroes)
snake and venom are not the same person. even though they seem like it..big boss is the old guy snake meets at the end of MGS4. technically Big boss is Snake and Liquid's father since the DNA used to create them was stolen from Big Boss...

Same here, hell I even played this last Summer and I'm going to tell you that this game was a thrill ride of emotion and action. I mean fuck, I really missed playing MGS4 on my dad's PlayStation 3.
that small part at 0:14 reminds me of the Escape from New York theme.
Greatest game ever made
You can really feel how this theme fits for Snake who's an old, tired mercenary that been through hell and back fighting for peace.

I bought a cheap broken one, fixed it and got it solely for this game.... Only MGS I never played in my childhood..... can relate.

that's partially why i uploaded this actually. my mum died back in 2018 and it hurt me more than anyone. it was my first serious loss. any before that did not change me like her's did. and with that loss. i understand snake's pain now. i understand and feel what he does more than i ever did before.
only difference of course is that i did not kill them. just witnessing death can have an effect though...

I love this game, but the whole Meryl and Johnny thing is BS. Massive cheesefest. Without that, this game would've been near perfect.
yeah. wish they got snake younger again and he hit it off with Meryl ;) (damn aging)
@DatMentalGamer - Yeah, same, or if they would have at least just focused on Snake and Meryl's relationship. Like she still had feelings for him, and he for her, but he distances himself due to his rapid ageing, knowing he is going to die. Bit of a sad love story sort of thing.
