@@mongo5564 I agree, 160F is considered well done and safe to eat. 170F is better for dark meat. When cooking at 350F-375F on larger birds you get enough temperature difference between breast and thighs that you’ll achieve doneness of both at the same time.

Yeah, be careful following those online videos where they inject it with a lot of juiciness. Also, this guy's flame was out of control and risky. Should be able to get up to 350-375 with much less.
It’s 5AM but I am craving fried turkey for some reason. Grocery stores are closed and I have no deep fryer. I guess I’ll just settle for a granola bar and some milk. 😢

I live in a apartment complex in the rear of the building. In thanksgiving there were about eight people outside frying turkeys. I never laughed so hard in my life. All but one did it wrong. There are still burned marks on the grass. Can’t wait to see Christmas.

You're the 1st guy that actually did this right without burning the place down I would remove the little bit further away from my house Congratulations and enjoy it
Deep fried turkey is the best, most juicy turkey that I've ever had. It's delicious; just be careful to completely thaw the bird before dropping it in the oil, or it will boil over into a fiery situation quicker than you can say yummy! 😋
Great video.... But - I was waiting for the bird/oil to land on his bare hands at the end while holding the tin pan then seeing the bird goe to the ground....
@@ashleyfalcon125 no he didn't explain what he was talking about or even why you're supposed to turn it off I'm just saying for people in the comments who don't know. This is a pretty big reason why there's fires during thanksgiving

A friend of mine burned his garage down doing this. The bird was still frozen in the middle and it exploded. He had just gone in the house for a beer when it happened. Gotta make sure it's completely thawed out.
We were in the emergency room with a family member on Thanksgiving a few years ago when they carted a father and son by ambulance. Yes. It’s tastes INCREDIBLE, stays very very juicy (none of it’s dry), and also perfectly tender-easily falls right off the bone as you’re eating it. Yum!
Hella tender. I just did two 20 lb's this year and they were way better than my first time. Juicy as ever. Got people wanting me to fry turkeys for them now
16.5 pound turkey cooked at 350 degrees for 57 minutes. 3.5 minutes per pound.
Thanks for the post. This example will be handy in the future.
Very general cooktime. I suggest a instant read thermometer. Core temperature and elevation really play heavily into this.

You're supposed to make sure the turkey has been completely dried with a towel. It's water in or on the turkey that makes the oil bubble over.

Does the government not allow you to eat turkey on other days of the year except those two days ?
You don't have to wait for a holiday to eat turkey.
You should never let your fire go up the side of your pot, if you had oil over flow on the sides your pot could catch on fire.
