Telecaster Style Guitar Build Timelapse - Reclaimed Rustic Tele

- This is a timelapse of a complete build of a tele style guitar made from reclaimed wood. This is one in a series of three hand built for The Old Town School of Folk Music. The wood came from an old support column that came out of the 909 W. Armitage building in Chicago. Hence the 909 inlay at the 9th fret. The column was old growth Douglas Fir. The building was built in 1896 and the patina on the column was evidence of that. The three guitars were auctioned off for a fundraiser for the school.
The body and neck are made from the Douglas Fir column and the pickguard and fingerboard are made from oak trim that also came from the building. The pickups are made by Fralin.
All music in this video was recorded with this guitar.

a Tele with a strat headstock and a wood pickguard, Looks very pretty!
This is one of those videos that you have to wonder why people down vote. Is it jealousy? It has to be jealousy. The guy has made a beautiful guitar out of some crap wood and has done a absolutely masterful job.
Don't listen to the downvoters or the negative trolls. Do what you love to do and that's all that matters
Actually you can make electric guitar out of almost any type of wood and it does not make that much of a difference in tone. If you have tools for every specific part on the guitar it is not that hard to build an electric guitar.
@@lukasberger1997 I'm almost in the assembly stage of building my first electric guitar! it's an old piece of reclaimed barn wood. the process has been challenging, but CZcams has been an amazing resource!! I bought a neck as I don't feel like I need to overwhelm my self on my 1st build, but that's going to be a challenge in the future!
The craftsmanship and the tools make really a difference. this man is skilled to make from scrap the best instrument.
I can't get over the grain in that neck and headstock. The back of the guitar was beautiful as well. Well done! Fine work.
Fralin pick ups! Good choice 👍🏻
Thank You for the great inspiration for building these good guitars... It is clear that, you have all necessary tools, equipment and many years of experience in woodworking. Additionally, the body design is really amazing...
one of the best builds ive watched with an awesome soundtrack and thank goodness you put the big strat headstock on! loved every minute
I like the choice of old growth fir for the neck. It's beautiful. 😀
OMG!! Its perfect. Everything I love and want in a guitar is in that guitar. Jeez man. Its beautiful..And sounds simply incredible. Well done.
Yeah dude !!! Good choice the Telecaster for your project. I have a Telecaster. Perfect guitar. Robust, polyvalent and what about is style. First solid body in guitar history
Beautiful guitar, and love the tone! Excited to work with reclaimed wood more.
Marvelous! True rock spirit!Bravo!!!!
That is an amazing looking and sounding guitar. This is something I have always wanted to do but lack the tools and the skills to make it happen. That's why I enjoy watching videos like this one. To watch someone take reclaimed wood and turn it into such a wonderful looking guitar never gets boring.
You could buy a kit guitar! As far as I know all you need is a soughter. I think guitar fetish is supposed to have some good ones.
Now that is what you call recycling .. brilliant job it’s got a nice tone , nearly missed the demo at the end
Wow amazing craftsmanship! Looks and sounds amazing.
A nice looking guitar. Interesting backstory of where the wood came from, making the 12th fret inlay extra cool. Bravo and well done.
Enjoyed the video. Watching it was time well spent. Thanks for sharing it.
Un trabajo perfecto,felicidades maestro
Отличная работа!!!! Браво!!!
Its a masterpiece in my opinion as I have great respect for such artists. Bravo Bravo...

Love it! Such good work! I just ordered a pine Tele body from reclaimed pine.
Excellent work, excellent video.
wow! I have been toying with the idea of building one for myself. Thank for the inspiration. It came out sooo nice. great job
Gorgeous guitar
Belo trabalho, guitarra lindíssima. Good work
Espectacular!!!
Very, beautiful guitar great job. Congratulations.
Its beautiful.... Wow!!!
What a beautiful, satisfying undertaking. Just lovely.
I have to say, the reclaimed wood is both beautiful and heartwarming. Just watched another build, and when the guy pulled out these big planks of ebony it made me sad as hell. I could just see the rare and precious trees that were felled to supply that industry.
I've been to Africa and seen the dwindling, depleted forests, as big trucks haul more and more rare tree trunks down the road for foreign export.
Keep it up, mate.
Impressive! Good job, Dan.
Beautiful job!

Really nice job done
very raw-- nice!
Awesome job! Would love to play that thing. Beautiful guitar.
Great bro!!!!!!
I have no experience in woodworking but I might build my first ever guitar from scratch
No truss rod, brave man you are. Awesome work
It's a cool guitar
from Japan
I'm not sure what some of you think he had great tools . I've been a woodworker for almost 40 yrs. And have seen videos of guys making guitars with dedicated tools and machines, he is doing this with some old tools, granted old but reliable. My only gripe is I wouldn't use that reclaimed wood. Your putting alot of work into the guitar but if you didnt watch the video you'd think it was someone's old guitar. I love wood with character. Great work dude.
Genius
*Thing is Gawjis!! Rustic as hell, wood grain city! #GreatVideo
I think I might need to start with a kit.
I was planning a scratch build and realized I was in over my head. I bought a parts kit and made a guitar that way instead. I learned so much from materials needed to the final set up, including fret dressing. Now I'm back to planning that scratch build. Parts kit was a great learning experience.
there are loads of good kits at thefretwire.com and solo guitars.com
I think I want to try that. I wonder if harbor freight had the tools. This guy really knows his stuff. I think the real may come into play with setting the intonation.
Cooooollll !!!
9:45 Here cometh RUMBLE, Nice One. ❤️
Agreed
Good job 👍☺
Tremendo.
You should make more and sell them! To me!! Amazing 🤤🤤

Finally a video of someone actually building a guitar and not just assembling parts together. Excellent work, looks amazing!
That is such a superb tele! Wonder what a P90 in the neck position would sound like? 🤔

I haven't made one yet but I like the idea of the arrows on your template...assuming for the direction of the router to reduce chances of tearout?
Hello Dan. On 4:20 is some kind of fretboard radius jig?. Can you show us more? Guitar looks great.
Great guitar. What is with the Birdseye on the back of the pick guard ? No doubt a great sounding guitar.
Bonjour un très bon travail comment peux couter une guitare fait par vos soins merci 🙏 j’adore le rendue des trois couleurs merci pour se pertage 👍👍👍👍🙋🏻♂️
Great video, but I was kind of skipping around... until around 11:30, that is. Oh YEAH... "Rumble." That's clearly one of the best guitar instrumentals.
Demais essa Tele!!! Linda! Parabéns!!! Qual Preço de uma igual a essa?
Very cool I’ve been wanting to learn guitar but might be too at I’m 62 now also wood worker
Loved watching you build the Guitar do you like the solid body or hallow body better
Thanks for sharing
Go for it. Learn guitar.
It's never too late!
👍
Everything is better when the rumble is playing in the background
Where was this guitar built? Is the facility open to the public or is this your own private shop? It would be great to have access to such a wonderful array of tools! And beautiful work!
Thanks! I work out of my own shop. I’ve been acquiring tools and machines for the last 25 years.
could you tell me who made the bridge plate please? Great looking guitar, nice work

Nice build! I what song was that about 14 minutes into your video?

Great build. Is there any way that you know the radious of the router bit that you carve the back of the neck??
Thanks! I believe it is a 7/8” radius.

beautiful work, man! may I ask why the lack of a thrust rod?
It has one. It's a wheel adjust truss rod at the neck heel.
