Was watching and then looked down and realized I'm wearing the same That Creative Life shirt as you in the video!
Side note: You (who ever reads this) could cloned the drive using macurum reflect before swapping out the SSD. To make it easer, get a external M.2 empty case install the new drive in said external case then plug it into the USB port. Clone the drive, then swap them out (take the drive out of case and take old drive out of laptop then swap). Then take your old drive and install it into the external case and now you have a portable M.2 drive. Also you can help friends out if they want to make the swap later on using the external case.
helpful tip. Thanks
Or even Samsung migration software when changing to their ssds
Hahaha "you would have probably figured that out if you didn't drop out" -Savage
And the nervous wheezing.. 🤣🤣🤣👍🏾
That came in my mind too. lol
damn did she actually drop out?
@@youngk9026 She said she did. I wonder what college she went to. Dropping out of an Ivy league (or something close to it) is different from dropping out of some no-name college. (I went to a no-name and dropped out, so I would know.)
This video was just perfect.
My favorite part was the dropping bit. It's just so relatable.
SARA I AM EXCITED FOR ALL THE VIDEOS COMING OUT IN THE FUTURE!
This is actually a lot of fun to watch mostly because of how nervous you were lol. I want to see camera upgrades next
Wow. I really love this video because I did the same update on an XPS 9530 around the same time you created this video, and I also did the same thing you did with the 500GB SSD that came with the laptop (I used it as an external hard drive). If I had seen this video before doing the update, I would have felt more confident about performing the update, but in the end everything works fine. Thank you for being just the way you are... I love your vibe!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I received my XPS15 yesterday, and I love how it's upgradeable. Your links in the description were very helpful in finding the right parts as well. Saving this video as a reference for later. :)
Loved the video, even loved the ad. Never seen such a professional ad in a CZcams video! Great job!
Oh snap Sara doing PC upgrades herself now!? Great Video! I dont even have a XPS 15 but I watched the whole video.. Also production quality on point.
this has been the best commercial ever. I'm definitely buying everything you linked.
The camera guy in me just has to say, whoever did that mini rack focus at 7:00 is pretty legendary... awesome vid tho! Definitely going to do this on my XPS
It covered the whole logo of Razor....lol. Fun entertaining video, Sara. Great stuff!
LOVED! This video. Reminded me of the creative spaces TV days but with a new flare! YESS!!!!!
I was a certified technician for a variety of brands for 10 years and am now a consultant for research scientists (but still do plenty of pc repairs and upgrades) and there is no reason to disconnect the battery for these upgrades. so long as you make sure that the computer is off before you begin, there shouldn't be any risky power going through any parts you would be working in and around. so long as you don't go licking traces, you'll be fine. m.2 drives, ram, and wifi cards can easily and properly be installed without disconnecting the battery.
Was going to comment this, she overcomplicated it quite a bit
You are so wrong
There was no need to physically REMOVE the battery, but it is prudent to DISCONNECT the battery when swapping out any MB-connected hardware. It just isn't worth the possibility of any current to flow through the system while working on it.
If you don't know what you are doing it's better to be safe
1:51 In all seriousness. This is the best advice in this entire video. I had a similar awakening in college with programming.
You don't believe how perfect this video came. I wanna upgrade my XPS this week 😄👊
I loved hearing the tech chap in the background! Great video!
Thanks for everything you put in the description. Now I knew the compability drives for my laptop.
Hi Sara i really enjoy watching you talking about laptops, so please please make more content about.
I enjoyed the video; simple, informative and fun. I actually plan to do the same with my older 9560, including an undervolt and cpu/gpu repaste. It would’ve been nice to see you do the same while you were in there. The difference it made to my spectre x360 was surprising.
Also, you’d have had a much easier time by just cloning the drive and writing the iso to the new drive.
Additionally I’d like to quickly counter a point you made around the 1:00 minute mark; the existing SSD is *very* fast, and whilst the incredible 970pro you installed is significantly faster, you wouldn’t notice in normal operation, only in very specific workloads, and synthetic benchmarks.
One nitpick aside it was a dope video, so thanks.
Not only a super useful video, but also very entertaining, Subscribed!
Meshing sponsor product with the primary subject of the video seamlessly ... Genius ...😎✌️
*FINALLY!* Finally somebody managed to create a decent, high quality sponsor spot. I hate when it's all about reading the dry marketing text approved by the sponsor and that's it. This version on the other hand was creative and showed us the product in action, too, with cool cinematic shots and some fun moments. I loved it! (Do you hear me Linus?!?!)
Did you reinstall the Dell application when you installed the new SSD?
Very helpful overview. Thanks for sharing.
Sara always makes all her videos funny, she is so cute and lovely. Glad to watch her vids. 💕
Awesome! Just updated mine. Watching you doing this reminded me when I used to work for an IT lab and used to replaced desktop/laptop parts all the time :)
Ps: I’ve seen many videos of people updating a Dell, but I choose your channel to trust everything because people should be doing things like girls 🥰 💪
Tássia, você poderia me ajudar?
Time to upgrade my xps 15! Thanks for the vid :)
Another ENGAGING, THRILLING, AMAZING video by SARA SASSY DIETSCHY 🔥🔥🔥
Are you high?
You sold me on the XPS 15. I love this laptop!
Sara, how do you manage people using your email address listed in the video description for Business Inquiries, when it's clearly not for business inquiries?
The environment lighting is soooo cool
I like self-deprecating Sara! Very funny video.
To all:
before following Sara's step, please
1. install Macrium Reflect (free software)
2. Use Macrium Reflect to clone your existing SSD data to your new SSD (which mean copy the exactly the same data to your new SSD, but don't try using only copy & paste, use this software)
3. Follow Sara's step (until installing window)
4. Power on and enjoy.
@ryan420hk thank you! I've been wanting to do this, but didn't know how to recoup what I already have on my laptop. I use it for work so I didn't want to risk losing it all. Appreciate it! Also love the video! You're fantastic
Can I do this even if I upgrade from a bigger compacity hhd to a SSD?
MC_ Runde all you need to confirm is - your total used harddisk space can’t bigger than your new ssd space, it is simple
@@ryan420hk OK then. Thank you
Super helpful! Thanks!
in regards to old drivers when the new hardware is good to go, specifically the wifi card. My question is I know you need to remove the old wifi card drivers but do I additionally need to remove the Bluetooth ones aswell?
This video was super good!! Quality 😍
Best ad for something that I've seen in a long time
Hey Sara! Great Videos, love your content. Do you have a recommended Dell XPS spec set-up PRE-upgrades that gives you the most bang for your buck ahead of the upgrades, and then once you add the upgrades you outlined in this video has the PC go full BEAST MODE! LOL I'm looking at getting an XPS and curious if you'd suggest the i7 of i9 and optimal components to buy through Dell before doing the upgrades above. Thanks, Mike
Would you not have used the external PCIe sdd enclosure to transfer the operating system and programs to the new sdd instead of doing a fresh install?
Love your videos sarah there amazing you impire me to do CZcams next year
episode V :ESD strikes back
nice touch
Sarah if you had to upgrade your laptop to do your video and editing workflow would you invest in a Mac or a PC. Just a question because my 2013 Mac Pro needs an upgrade
And this is why Sara needs more subscribers...she actually has FUN! Great vid but I can't help but notice...my year old Inspiron 15 5577 only takes one screw to get into and you've got both RAM slots, a slot for at NVME SSD and a spot for a spinning HD...But again, at least Dell is upgradable, and a hot tip...with your service tag from the laptop on Dell's site...you can actually download the service manual for your device. Yes Dell gives you an actual PDF of how to open the laptop and change just about all the parts.
Love your video, and the Cover on your laptop.
Just to point out, having re-pasted the CPU and GPU of my dell XPS 9570 i noticed a MASSIVE improvement to thermal performance (as well as applying much better thermal pads to the VRM/Chokes [the little black things above the heat sink], Undervolting using Throttlestop etc.). I'll certainly utilise this video's upgrades too! The makings of a cooler (thermally), powerhouse laptop!
Hey Sara, Great videos. Quick Question. Did you reinstall any of the Dell Application (Dell update or Power management) Just not sure if i should ?
can I have a link for the d-brand skin. been trying to find one for the xps 15 for a while.
Thanks for posting these videos
Did the wifi work immediately after swapping the wifi card or did you have to install drivers? I have a Lenovo Legion y530 and that model came with two wifi card options. I have the defective version so I want to upgrade.
Thanks! This was fun and educational!
Putting on that dBrand skin on my 9575 was the hardest thing I've had to do in my entire life. The top shell alone took me like an hour
OK SO IM NOT CRAZY!!🤣
@@saradietschy oh, definitely not 😂 I thought I would actually go insane, while trying to align that skin perfectly. On a phone it takes me like 2 minutes tops
totally agree with you. For the bottom I made bubbles and wrinkle a total disaster. Luckily it's the bottom.
"Are we just going to remake that Dell upgrade video?"
Sara: "Nah."
Also Sara: "Today we're going to be upgrading my Dell XPS" 😂
I feel like sara could have at least given a shoutout to "the tech chap" who's video she both included & plagiarised czcams.com/video/uXxXa_beXc4/video.html
Hey Sara! Great vid. Have you had any audio related issues with the XPS? Seems to be a lot of people complaining about that.
Is there anything on the inside like a tab that breaks to show you have opened the laptop? I want to upgrade my XPS, but Ihave 2 years left on the warranty that I don't want to void by cracking it open.
Hi Sarah, can you make a video on how you transferred over your data to your new ssd? Thank you! Love your videos!
what brand screw driver kit is that you used with the hex?
I fell in love with the way you said, "No no no no no!".
the fossil video is simply 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
great video, OMG, having recently purchased a 2018 dell 15 7590, I was not made aware of a swelling battery issue. I am curious as to know if you have hade to replace the battery at all and how long are the batteries rated to last? Was there any error and or alert that the Windows OS gave you in your discovery of the battery problem, that is did you perform a diagnostic which informed you prior? This really sucks, to where I may now consider returning the laptop for this reason. Thanks
how did you transfer the windows license from the storage found in the dell to the new one?
Hi Sara, thank you for making this helpful video! I'm upgrading the WiFi card, is reformatting my system optional? I have the drivers for the Intel AC9260NGW.
Great video :) thanks ! I was wondering, you wrote to put XPS driver in a different USB drive than the Windows ISO. Why ?
6:41 You could've just use the external ssd enclosure, to clone the content of your previous ssd to the new one, so you don't have to reinstall windows or apps. Samsung even has a handy app for that
Need help @sara
Should I buy Dell xps 15 9570 or wait for 9580 model?! (Am literally confused here)
Results? How much did the upgrades help? Able to scrub through 4k video in Resolve now? Thanks!
Yaaaaas, need to upgrade my XPS15 9570 soonish.
Probably the best laptop upgrade I’ve watched. And that roast haha.
And the most unnecessary aswell, most probably.
George Dömse unnecessary roast, yep, but it made the vid fun. Upgrade? Though latest and greatest (I got one too), for an editing pc these upgrades are a must. I use up the whole 16GB RAM with just Lightroom and Photoshop open at the same time so expanding to 32GB will prevent it from crashing. For vid, Premiere Pro, having that expanded and faster storage space really gives a boost in loading media and editing.
Would it be easier to clone the existing NVMe to the new one (Macrium Reflect)? Or is it better to do a fresh install on the XPS?
I just want to know where you got the sticker that's on your macbook
Incredibly entertaining and educational 👌🏼👍🏼
Unfortunately I screwed up two screws in the middle. I have no idea how to take them off now. Any help would be appreciated.
so is there room for an extra 2.5'' SATA ssd, not the M.2 form?
Just out of curiosity, which laptop do you prefer more. The XPS 15 or the MBP 15. Also I'm in the market for a new laptop for photography and photo editing. Was curios which would you suggest out of the two. Thank you in advance. Have a great day .
so i installed the new Samsung SSD and it went fine till the updates started. It went straight to the blue screen. microsoft store tried to fix it and had no fix for this. I know the part is compatible.....im open to suggestions and ideas on how to fix this
The SSD on XPS 9570 is M.2 PCIe. Does this work on this enclosure?
I laughed so hard at Jonah trying to dodge the sneeze at 6:30 xD
Ordering my 9570 tomorrow after saving all summer I'm soooo excited trying to decide if I should go with a skin or a shell case 🤔
Do you have a video showing how to fix and/or replace the touchpad on the 9570? The lower right area of my touchpad has no room to be depressed (can't click it any more). I bought a new touchpad; however, the metal plate on the back of my touchpad did not come with the replacement touchpad. I need to obtain a new metal plate or removed the metal plate from my touchpad for use on the replacement touchpad. The plate is held on by a very strong glue. What is needed to remove the glue/plate? Is this how the repair should be done, using the old plate? What glue should be used to reattach the plate to the replacement touchpad? Thank you.
literally took me 2.5 hours to line up my xps15 dbrand skin but it was so worth it
I just ordered my new XPS 15 9570 i9 with 4K Touch, 32gb, and 1 TB. Woohoo!
Do you know if the XPS 17 can be as well upgraded in terms of RAM and SSD?
Similar to the XPS 15.
2 questions, what exactly is the advantage of changing the wifi card? Also, if you were going to put the SSD into the enclosure, could you have done that with the new SSD and cloned the old one, or is it a MUST to do the Windows install separately?
I have both Apple and Dell machines...and when its time to replace my Dell, I'm thinking an XPS 15 is what I want.
You are so funny. I’m so glad I found you! ☺️
nice! i just recently upgraded my ssd storage as well. So much faster!
Do you need to back up your drive if youre just upgrading the ram and wifi card?
Does upgrading affect any files or document on the PC or are they on the SSD you just took out
I have the XPS 9550, the 2016 model. Im interested in making all these upgrades because i desperately need them for the programs im running in college. Is it worthwhile to upgrade from the i7 processor to an i8 or i9?
Fantastic video.
Great video, like your humour :)
Im curious, was the stock ssd drive a Toshiba ? And was the stock ram Samsung branded ?
Does upgrading void user warranty with Dell? Also does the new 7590 have the same upgradable options? Thanks!!
this was really cool!
Question for you XPS 9570 experts - the aluminum back panel on my 4K screen has some cosmetic damage. I'd like to replace it, and I've found the suitable part online being sold by a number of sellers. Does anyone know how to separate the aluminum backing from the screen without damaging anything? I know it's possible because the backing is available for purchase separately and people do purchase them.
What is the screw used ? I can't get in my Dell XPS 7590
EDITING HUMOR ON POINT
i heard that the Dell XPS 15 crashes alot during the first year of use. is it true?
Sarah. Did u experience that latency issue with your XPS? I was thinking buying an XPS15 to produce music but a lot of people are telling me it is the worse choice because of this issue...
Is it better to format a new SSD before installing any windows? Does this hardware scan while booting for first time, do the same thing as formatting the SSD? I've bought one myself and I'm concerned. I Appreciate anyone's reply! Thanks
Hi Sara, I ordered a Dell XPS 15 last week. I was on the fence about it, but your video won me over!
Could you do a video about which mouse you use for Windows? I love the Apple magic mouse (especially for the gesture controls for it in Adobe), but I'm not sure if anything is as great as that for creators specifically. Some suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
I've opened every laptop I've ever owned to do some sort of upgrade, but I'm still *nervous wheezing* every time.
