      It also could be too rich on the low speed needle not letting it idle for long the carb loads up with fuel and will stall also would explain why your yake offs were lagging a bit but it didnt sound like it was starving for fuel. But i have another theroy that has happened to me. Does it die when you hit the brakes and come to a stop???

    Great vid! It might be to rich or to lean cuz when i seen u take off and then came back it died. But didnt see any smoke when u took off! I think usually if its rich it would smoke when take off! Or ur linkage is not setup correct when u brake it cause it to die!

    • @BMPowered
      @BMPowered  Před 3 lety +1

      Nah, I wasn't breaking. It doesn't smoke a ton because the the oil in the gas is smokeless. After this can is empty, we are NOT using it anymore. I'd rather see the smoke and know when it's lean or rich.

    Always a good time racing bajas!! But your 45cc should be moving quicker than that even with a junkie base tune. I have 2 rovan 45cc engines one brand new in my 2020 stock Rovan 5b 45cc and a TMR Performance modded Rovan 45cc that was in the worlds first Rovan Baja Max FT450 TMR Edition i designed,created and built from the chassis up son!! Even out the box you should be jumpin off the line a bit better than that and you should have serious torque that keeping your bajas front end down is near impossible when you full throttle but, also you gitta seat yhe piston and ring first if you want to really make the power!!!! Get 4 ir 5 tanks through it and keep grip n ripping her and it will get faster as the motor runs itself in! Any other question feel free to come to my channel and drop a comment on my most recent vid with the question brother i got your back homie🤝👍👊💥💥💥💨💨💨💨💥💥💨💨

      Thank you! Do you have any Rovan cars?

  • @EazyDuz18
    @EazyDuz18 Před 3 lety +2

    Hard to tell which car is making which noise. But if its cutting out when you're accelerating it cannot be rich, that wouldn't make sense. Put the needles back to stock.
    1. Press the throttle in fully. If the car bogs down, then accelerates, it could be lean or rich on the low end. To find out, go full throttle down the field then bring it back to you and bring it to a stop, then immediately gun the throttle again, if it doesn't bog after doing that, its rich. What you've done is burnt up all the excess fuel so it can momentarily accelerate smoothly. To confirm that, let it idle in place for a minute, then gun the throttle, it should bog down loads and probably stall from too much fuel build up on a rich low speed needle

    • @EazyDuz18
      @EazyDuz18 Před 3 lety +2

      However if the LSN is lean, it will always bog down on acceleration. The only time it might not is if you let it idle for ages so excess fuel can build up enough for it to pull away smoothly. From stock needle settings, you just want the LSN in a rough ballpark so it pulls of pretty smoothly with a good idle. That will do for now.
      Now for the high speed needle. From stock settings, richen the needle 1 hour (imagine a clock face, if needle is at 12 oclock, richening 1 hour would be moving it to 11 oclock), now go full throttle and listen to the revs. If it sounds like its gurgling on full throttle, bring it back to you and richen it some more (to confirm)

    • @EazyDuz18
      @EazyDuz18 Před 3 lety +2

      If when you richen it more it sounds even more gurgly, you've confirmed that the stock needle settings are too rich on the high speed needle, so bring it back to stock then LEAN it by one hour. Then repeat. You should reach a point where you get a good, smooth, high pitched sound on full speed. IF it sounds good and smooth then over time it starts to slow down or make odd noises, its TOO LEAN and you need to richen it or you risk blowing the motor. If you just want to bash i'd err on the side of caution and opt for a slightly richer high speed needle. Anyway once you've done that, return to the LSN and make tiny fine tuning adjustments. You want it to pull away smoothly no matter if its been idling for 30 seconds or immediately after a high speed run. Finally, tweak the idle screw if it needs it

    • @EazyDuz18
      @EazyDuz18 Před 3 lety +2

      A couple other things to note. My Rovan 36cc motor was WAY too lean on stock settings. The weather might contribute to that a bit as these engines run a bit leaner in cold weather, but the point im making is stock settings only get you in the rough ballpark.
      Also make sure there's plenty of fuel in the tank. When fuel is getting low, when you're bashing there will be times when fuel gets forced to one end of the tank so the engine sucks in pockets of air in the fuel lines. This can throw you off into believing its running too lean when in reality its just the fuel is getting low. Lastly, make sure the vent hole in the gas cap is free of debris.
      Oh and one more thing, don't read the engine tune based on smoke. Nitros smoke a lot which can help with tuning but these engines just don't smoke all that much at all. Its most noticeable if you leave it idling for ages then gun it, but don't be concerned if you're driving it hard and you're not seeing a ton of smoke.
      Hope this helps. Im in the process of doing a full review video of my Rovan AS1 and just finished tuning it today. I'll give you a shout out for getting me back into it!
      P.s. For tuning you'd be best off on a flat tarmac surface so you can hear the engine better

    • @EazyDuz18
      @EazyDuz18 Před 3 lety +2

      Lastly, if you've done all that and it STILL doesnt run right and the plug looks fine with a good spark: Get some dish soap and water mix and a paint brush. Fire the engine up, then paint the soapy water around the engine and carb. If there is an air leak somewhere, you'll see the water bubble up, confirming a poor carb or engine seal somewhere.

    This is very sad to see, Their is a lot to be said about the Rovan 45. I have been a engine builder for over 45 years and swore I wouldn't get caught up in letting the China junk get to me but it has. These engines are junk ! Not near worth what they charge. When you pull one of these apart you will find that every time the engine makes a rotation, The bottom of the piston hits the Crankcase on both sides. This WILL beat the bearings & the wrist pin out in a short time. I have one & have seen many pics of others so its a engineering problem. The end result will be a junk engine. Hows that make you feel when you spend 250 to 300 dollars ? That's not all thats wrong with them either. They can be somewhat corrected with a lot of grinding but they shouldn't need to be sent to someone to be corrected or somewhat corrected. I like to help people not take their money. This is probably NOT the problem your having right now. I didn't see it in the comments but the pipe flange needs to be opened up for the 45. Its like shitin in a funnel. Do yourself a favor & buy a Zenoah G320RC & be done. More power & Quality Period. You don't have to waste more money.
