Quick note on this though.... SOME exit device (panic bar) trims (I'm glaring at Sargent ) for whatever reason have decided to call this function "entry" (which would normally be select function from the inside, and possibly outside, depending on make, model, etc... on regular hardware)
Their's however, actually works as a classroom function even though they've decided to call it "entry"... Works the same way as classroom function, always open from the inside, outside is locked until you unlock it with the key, and remains unlocked until you lock it, also with the key, and can not be locked again from the outside until you use the key....
A FEW others use that nomenclature, other's use this, now standard nomenclature, but it's always best to be clear which name they're calling what with different brands of exit device trims... ESPECIALLY if a manufacturer doesn't offer something like a TRUE "Passage function" etc... .
Once you know it about their hardware nomenclature it's not that big of a deal, but the first couple time dealing with hardware from a manufacturer you're not used to working with, especially if you're dealing with a building with multiple doors where different functions are called for, and then have to order it all, it can be a royal PITA learning what THEY call their functions, given that it's different then the terminology for other commercial hardware.
