How To Replace A Battery In A Mazda Key Fob Remote Control
Replacing the battery in your Mazda key fob is a cinch. All you need is a small flat head or pocket screwdriver - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Here is the battery you need - amzn.to/31MQvs6
I put in ecr2032, will last longer
Thank you! Does the remote need to be "reset" somehow, after installing the new battery?
Thank you for getting on with it and not having a 4 minute intro and discussion like many other tutorials on CZcams.
You're welcome!
"Hit the like buttom! Smash that subscribe button!"
They would introduce themselves and talk about model cars, the year, etc
Nah - not me. We have better things to do with our time!
Oh see you get can a battery at the grocery store or Home Depot k prefer the grocery store cuz I can also get some other things while I’m there anyway .. the battery
It took longer to get the fresh battery out of the adult-proof packaging than it did to watch your video and change the battery! Thanks.
Glad the video was helpful!
@@KeyFobRob I’m old enough to be careful about breaking plastic.
Very helpful for someone who had no idea how to access the battery without possibly cracking the case.
Wow! This was awesome! I have been stressed for the last few months when my car says key fob battery low….. I finally decided to fix it but had NO idea how. It looked like it didn’t have a place for the battery. I felt SO empowered to be able to walk into O’Reilly Auto Parts and spend $8 for 2 batteries and fix my own problem! . AND THEY SAID NEXT TIME just bring fob into them and they will replace it and test it right there.
Great to hear!
Worked perfectly, thanks for posting. Only took me 60 seconds once I watched the video.
No problem. Glad I could make your day a little bit easier 👍🏻
Straight to the point, just what we all need! Thank you!
Glad I could help!

It looks like a fatter battery ecr2032 fits just fine as well, but will last longer. Thank you for the helpful video
And that's exactly what I wanted to ask. You rock.
@@michaellummis5147 did it fit?
@@jalene150 It does. Just installed it.
This video really helped me. Thank you for your time

Just changed my battery using this tutorial
Glad it helped
Thanks! Worked like a charm.
Glad it helped!
Great stuff and straight to the point. Much easier (and less time consuming) than running to a local Mazda dealer (about 20 minutes away).... Thank you very much!
Edit to add... it took less time to do the fix than it did to get the battery out of the child proof blister packs.... lol
I had the same problem trying to get the plastic covering off of the battery, which I hadn’t noticed initially !! 🙄😉😁
Short and to the point video. I chuck in 2032 battery, hope it will last longer.
Excellent! Glad the video could help you get your battery change out
Thanks! Had to use the fob to push the button after work today.
No problem 👍
Thanks for the video - curious if that FOB is a replacement and if so how did you insert the logo that comes with the unit? Did you simply snap it in or use a small bit of super glue to insure it does not fall out?
Thank you so much! Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Good vid.
Thanks it was easy after watching ur video 😊
Most welcome 😊
Thank you!! I’ve been getting a low battery warning and I saw the manual key but it doesn’t actually start my car 🤷🏻♀️. So I thought maybe it was for “charging” my key fab lmao (that doesn’t work fyi 🤦🏻♀️)
Thank you for posting
No problem 👍
Great video! Thanks
Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks a lot. It's a shame that Mazda could not be bothered to put instructions on how to change the battery in their manual. Other car I have had in the past did.
that's because they want you to come pay the dealer to do it, and pay $200 for an air filter as well
@@Danville_AM_Toastmasters That's a shame.
Thank you so much for this.

Thanks so much. I’m mechanically declined but this helped me figure it out.

Dashboard message said "Low Key Fob Battery". Searched CZcams for Mazda key fob battery replacement. Settled on your video, since your fob looked like mine. 84 seconds later I knew EXACTLY what to do. I had a spare CR2025 in my desk, so a few minutes later the problem was history. Thank you for such a quick yet informative video!
Boom! Glad it helped
Helpful thank you 😊

great explanation.

Thankyou for this video.Just bought a 2013 2.2D Navi Sport from auction. The key fob doesnt lock or unlock the car so im gonna check if that red light comes on and if it doesnt i will change the battery.
Nice! I'd go ahead and replace the batteries anyways. Inexpensive little job - amzn.to/31MQvs6
I didn't have a 2025 so I used a 2032 instead which fit even though it's a little fatter. Works great!
Thank you for this video. without it I could of broken my key fob trying to replace the battery
Glad I could help!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
wish I had found this 6 months ago, before I had to manually unlock the car door all winter- yay!! my batteries have been changed
Glad I could help!
One thing, it will kind of feel like you're gonna break it. Don't go crazy on it but it takes a decent amount of force.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼

My fob is only 3 years old and has started to not work when it is cold ! Would you think this could be the battery ? Yesterday the car locked itself and key was in it , once we got the key out the fob was dead and the locks wouldn’t work either . Hoping this could all be battery related ?!
The cold amplifies problems with weak batteries. I'd go ahead and change them out. That will likely solve your problem. Here is the battery you need - amzn.to/31MQvs6
@@KeyFobRob thank you! I had the same issue a couple weekends ago when it first snowed. I was wiping my car off and left purse in and it locked me out. I will replace my battery today.
@@octaviacrocker5618 Nice!
Thanks a bunch man!
No problem. Glad I could help!
Great but my fob doesn't have the round cover over the battery. It's tucked into a compartment that won't let me release the battery.
Same here with 17 mx5. I pried it out with difficulty
will a cr2032 battery work?
In a pinch it will work. The 2032 is thicker than the 2025 but you should be good until you can get a 2025.
And what does the button "hold" with an exclamation mark at the very bottom of the key mean?
That is your panic button. If you hold that, your horn will start blaring.
@@KeyFobRob thanks for answer )
But what is it for?

How to fix my Mazda keyfob 2015
Changed battery now fob doesn't work. Do I need dto reprogram the fob?!
I have the same problem.
I had the same issue too. I just fucked with the locks until it worked. I also had a slight issue with my battery not fitting snug. Fixed with a little piece of cardboard.
Mechanical key?? Thumbs up is in order!
Great! Glad you found the video helpful!
👍🏻
I agree.
What if the 2025 and the 2032 battery keeps slipping out, like no matter how I try to put the batteries in they pop out in one side. Not sure if my prongs are too high but either way when I removed the old batteries they seemed to be perfectly secure and I had to pop them out….seems bizarre and I’m annoyed 😒 please help.
Cant seem to pry mine open unfortunately.

When I bought my Mazda, it was secondhand off some rich couple who didn’t need it anymore, they didn’t even give me the manual. I was too busy checking the car to make sure it was decent, to look for it. Didn’t even think about it. Cause who chucks out the car manual? They did. Apparently rich people do. I’ve had to Google everything and from someone who had the most botched up first car going to one that felt entirely too fancy without a manual?? I hated it at first honestly. Hated it.
Thanks. So weird there is no way to start the car if the battery dies. What a horrible design. You can unlock your car using the key that pops up but that's all you can do.
You can touch the fob on your start-stop button and that should work for you
Thank you

@@KeyFobRob I actually wanted to give this to my mechanic, because I thought that the key would be coded, that they'd have to attach it to diagnostics and pair it somehow...
Nope. Just a good old kitchen scale battery.
