      The battery packet says child resistant. It took me ages to work out there was a strong plastic blister over the damn thing. Much harder getting the battery out than opening the key fob.

    Great video. I still refer to this every year whenever I needed to change the battery for my key fob. But may I suggest one thing that will improve the whole process? Instead of screw driver, use a plastic card, like your old credit card or some unwanted membership card. Screw driver which is metal will cause significant and noticeable scratches or even serious damage to the key fob. I have been using my old credit card to open it, done it twice so far and not a scratch or dent.

    • @jc3drums916
      @jc3drums916 Před 4 lety +1

      CR2032 required some effort to work in mine. I believe it is due to the angle of the positive contacts in my fob. The battery would not stay in, and it would push the plastic battery cap out when I tried to secure it. I had to force it down by partially closing the fob, then using the key to hold the cap down while closing the fob the rest of the way (not sure why this made it easier to close, but it did). Looking at the seam between the two halves of the fob and comparing it to the backup fob, there is still a very slight bulge in the center of the fob.

    • @miguelborromeo6010
      @miguelborromeo6010 Před 3 lety +1

      I would not recommend 2032 because it will push the contacts lower so the next time you get the proper battery it might be loose. It will work in emergency situations though.

    Thanks to this very good video, I didn't have to go to the Mazda dealer as I had previously. They replaced the battery less than 2 years ago and it failed rather shortly.
