Battery Panasonic CR 2025 3V and was able to open the key without damaging the plastic using a credit card
Took me ten minutes to get the new battery out of it's blister pack but only 30 seconds to replace it thanks to this tutorial. Thanks, Danny.
One time I had to open one of those blister packs without scissors, and it took me 20 minutes 😂
Now we need a tutorial on removing the battery out of it's blister pack without injury or damaging the battery
The battery packet says child resistant. It took me ages to work out there was a strong plastic blister over the damn thing. Much harder getting the battery out than opening the key fob.
Great video. I still refer to this every year whenever I needed to change the battery for my key fob. But may I suggest one thing that will improve the whole process? Instead of screw driver, use a plastic card, like your old credit card or some unwanted membership card. Screw driver which is metal will cause significant and noticeable scratches or even serious damage to the key fob. I have been using my old credit card to open it, done it twice so far and not a scratch or dent.
Worked perfectly! Thanks for the tip as well as saving a trip to the dealer and spending money to fix!
A BIG THANK YOU. Even though that was quiet simple, sometimes you need to know how it's done, because you care.
THANKS AGAIN!
Fast explaination without stupid private stories! Thumbs up!
Wonderful! Quick, simple, clear. You solved my problem in 1min33sec. Thank you very much!
Than you, simple fix but if not for the first step of popping out the insert I might have broken it. Great vid!!!
So glad you shared this. My dealership gave me 3 sets of keys and within a month 2 sets needed new batteries and my dealership wants $90 per key fob to change batteries.
Thank you! These fobs die more often than any other car brand I've owned, still love my mazda, but this was critical info! TY!
I used my house key on the inside slots, and slid the same key along the side slots - no trouble or damage at all!
Thank you so much, you “saved my life” on a Sunday late evening, when a locksmith would have cost me a small fortune! 🙏🙏🙏
You could have just removed the car key and used that if the battery failed...
Sorted me out today - many thanks. CR2025 battery for my 2015 Mazda 2 👍
Brief accurate tutorial. It is not intuitive how to change the battery, but it is really easy. Thanks!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Getting right to the point is most helpful.
I love you thank tyou! I wake up every morning and pray to you
This has been so helpful! I’ve watched it each time I’ve had to change my battery. Thanks!
S U P E R tutorial. Relaxed without irritated music.
Thanks! Super easy and my local hardware store had the battery. Saved me a 2 hours I did not have to drive down to the dealer and back. You rock!
Thanks for video. I been going to Madza dealer to get battery changed 3 times last month. This last time gentleman told me they use cheap batteries and if I bought a better one and bring it in, he change it. Their battery didn’t even Lasted not even 2 weeks!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Precise and easy to follow. I changed my battery in 5 seconds flat. Marvellous :).
So easy peasy with these instructions! Thank you!
Perfect, just did this on a Mazda 2 fob. As per other commenters a credit card works a treat for the second stage and avoids any damage to the casing 👍
Thanks. Just the information I needed...and nothing else.
You sir have saved me $120 a year! I hope someone ramdomly buys you coffee!
Wow that is a lot, costs me €5 and a trip into town once a year..... But not anymore 😉
The Battery is a CR2025 i only had a CR2032 to hand, works perfect, only difference between 2 batteries is the CR2032 is slightly thicker and therefore should last longer also, so WIN WIN.
CR2032 required some effort to work in mine. I believe it is due to the angle of the positive contacts in my fob. The battery would not stay in, and it would push the plastic battery cap out when I tried to secure it. I had to force it down by partially closing the fob, then using the key to hold the cap down while closing the fob the rest of the way (not sure why this made it easier to close, but it did). Looking at the seam between the two halves of the fob and comparing it to the backup fob, there is still a very slight bulge in the center of the fob.
I would not recommend 2032 because it will push the contacts lower so the next time you get the proper battery it might be loose. It will work in emergency situations though.
Thank you from Canada. This is really helpful!
Excellent video! Easy to follow and very well presented.
It was so simple and easy!! Thank you much!
Thank you (from the UK) for a great tutorial! 👍🏽
Thanks to this very good video, I didn't have to go to the Mazda dealer as I had previously. They replaced the battery less than 2 years ago and it failed rather shortly. I put in a Sony battery in my primary key and the backup fob since it had the original battery since the car was purchased new in '13.
exact same thing happened to me! I'm so glad to find this tutorial as I was going to have to drive an hour and a half to get it fixed otherwise. I have to wonder what battery they put in it less than 2 years ago to have it die so quickly though. I didn't watch them replace it, so who knows if they used a new one or what.
Thank you so much - I forget every time how to open the key fob - much appreciated.
Thanks, exactly what I needed! Greetings from rural Japan!
Thank you so much. To echo the others commenting here, saved me a fortune! Thank you, sir!
It works. Thank you so much for this clearly demonstrated and well explained video.
I use 2032 which has higher capacity then 2025 (250 mA vs 160 mA) so it lasts at least 3 years instead of 2 for same money. Upper side of plastic clicks perfectly. Mazda 2 2019 Takumi model
Thanks for the accurate and not too long video 😁
THANK You my friend!! 👍👍👍👍
In my country the cost to change the battery is 50euros 🤯🤕 !!! I bought Duracell battery for 7euros (2 in package) and replaced it by myself it took me 5min or less
thank you so much you helped me alot
You're welcome, we're glad to have been of help! It's great to hear that our video saved you a significant amount of money compared to the cost of having the battery changed at a dealership or service center.
Thank you, your video was much better than the other I went to first & you have saved me a few euros & an unnecessary trip in to town.....
I was just about to pay someone else to do it but just seen the battery for cheap in local warehouse and a quick fix that I can do. Thank you
Thanks for the tutorial. Had a customer with dead fob but helped her out with this vid :)
Thank you for posting. Made something difficult become very easy!!
Thank you so much for this-as the users manual is useless on this topic! I just changed mine in less than a minute! (Tip- I always keep a spare battery in my glove box, I suggest others to do the same- as mine as died twice in 1 year).
PERFECT tutorial. Thank you for making this so easy.
Instead of twisting, you can just pry it open instead, leaves no damage, even with a flat-head screwdriver. Otherwise good instructions on how to get it open. Thanks!
U got me up and going when my key died in the parking lot. Off to home depot for a new battery 💨. Thank you!
Thank you, Danny! This is fantastic and I appreciate you :)
Thanks for showing the process, just changed the battery.
Thanks so much for the vid, short and easy to understand.
Thank you for the best explanation !! my Mom stocked at the store , this video helped me a lot !! Thank you gain !! Happy upcoming holidays !!
That was easy! Thanks for the clear tutorial 😁
Perfect! Just what I needed!
Thanks a million!
Really appreciate it, thanks for saving us money. worked first try
This really helped me aloooooot... thx. All this time I've been paying extra to get it replace since I have no clue, more like afraid of leaving some damages.
Awesome, great video. I couldn't figure it out. Thank you
THANK YOU for this video! A lifesaver every time.
Great info! Thanks for sharing it! My car keys are in need for new batteries!
Thank you. This tutorial was easy to follow and saved me some $$.
Simple! Took a minute, no problem thanks!
A battery change in the fob key fixed our istop and battery management warning light issues. Thank you! Was strange because car was serviced 2 months ago and the printed battery report came out really good!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you very much for your helpful video . I changed mine in no time. Thank you x
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Good job, mate
Dude. Thank you! Absolute legend.
Well, that was easy peasy! Thank you!!
Thank you from Scotland. Saved me quite a bit from letting the local Mazda dealer do the change.
Just bought a Mazda 3 from Macklins Hamilton. 2017 model. P-exd CX5. I'm in Worcestershire.
I have same problem with my Mazda 2 17 plate, good to be able to fix this.
Thank you! Yours is better tutorial. All the best!
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you for the tutorial. It was of great help.
Perfect tutorial. Thanks so much!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing!
You're the man Danny! Thank you!!!!!
Extremely helpful!! Many thanks!
It's really helpful and I can change the batter for myself and saving $$$.
Thank you for making this so easy to follow! Perfect pace and voice tone!
Thankyou. This is the best video and is actually for a Mazda CX-5 car.
Thanks for this. The manual says basically how to do it, although it recommends you take it to the dealer. I placed a small piece of tape over my jewelers screw driver. Worked great. No scuffs. Surprisingly easy, but I guess you can mess up the electronic if you somehow do it wrong.
You can use your finger nails to pry it open. That’s what I did. LOL
Just the video I needed. Thanks
Thanks! Just what I needed
Thanks for the information, good well presented video, Cheers from Aussie
Thank you, this was very helpful!

Job done. I really appreciate your guidance .
Thank you.. I was having a mental breakdown overhere..
Thank you for this simple and straightforward video. 👍
Awesome. Just what i needed.
Thank you!!! Life saver!
Thank you helped me and my mom a lot !
Great video, very helpful!
Thank you for doing this, dealers in the UK are trying to charge £10 at least for doing this, when the cost of a new battery is a fraction of that!
That’s the reason why they make it so hard to open. They want to screw your out of every dime they can. Capitalism breeds corruption.
Aye twin I appreciate the help brudda
Thanks, this was very helpful
Six years later and still helping people open their damn keyfobs😂👍🏽
