If you have the money, I believe that gel coat is the way to go. Gel coat will stop cracking, and it will crack without gel coat. Pin holes will try to bust in the summer, and I think gel coat saves the paint from bubbles?
Did a bit looking into it and it seems it's back and forth. Seems the people that do gel coat claim to never have bubbling later and it's hit or miss if it's just filler. Believe im gunna try the gel coat myself.
