- Vishwaroopam is a 2013 Indian action spy thriller film written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan, who also enacts the lead role. The film has Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles. Filmed simultaneously in two languages: Tamil and Hindi, the film features a soundtrack composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with the Tamil lyrics written by Vairamuthu and Haasan himself, while Javed Akhtar translated them for the Hindi version

I wonder everytime someone decodes vishwaroopam, they use to tell something unnoticed!! Too much of material loaded in this movie. Btw its yet another stupendous work from Rangan😉

As if we weren't already in awe of Kamal's creative intelligence, this analysis makes the already-open jaw drop further down.
What's interesting about this video is that it's very interesting that I don't even realise the video is 17 mins long!
I watched this movie like 100 times and after 4years now I understand what is VISHWAROOPAM..! Salute Kamal sir’s brain. And thanks for the flashback analysis 👍

Yesterday I watched viswaroopam after almost 5 and a half years!!, to recollect small details before catching up the second version this weekend.
Definitely my comprehension levels, emotional quotient, empathy has all gone up. I had seen it two times back to back last time. All that I was looking out was for whether there is any objectionable content, harming any sect of people.. first time, I was in total awe of this man!!
Second time, again I fell for him many times. Well, what can you expect from a die hard fan, who only gets inspired everytime on watching him in all mediums❤️❤️
Yesterday, I paid attention to details, went back to some scenes, paused it , recollected the continuity and then watched..
After watching your analysis, I love the frame in frame angle, and the reflection too. The scene in the climax sequence, where Nirupama sits inside the car, and the car mirror is seen inside the larger frame ,I too thought it's a good frame. Well, am quite naive and new to all this, though am a film buff, and love to watch films of all jonar and appreciate..
I vaguely remember the art director in an interview mentioning that it was challenging to design the sets as they was several reflections shots..also on watching several interviews of Ravi Varman sir, I could appreciate what it is!!
I too felt that how does the deep character discloses so much to Nirupama, and also somewhere I felt, her character could have been more smart. I felt she was shown dumb..

i watched this in the theatre when i was 17 years old and i didnt understand anything except that the accents were bad and it was uncomfortable to watch as a muslim. But i always knew it was trying to say something more. thank you for your analysis. if only mainstream movies were like this and this industry was free of siruthai siva, atlee, iamk santosh, susi ganesan, hari, adhik ravichandran and etc
The most technically polished Indian action movie I've ever seen. That shot of the piegeon at the beginning when the credits start appearing is just as poetic as it could get.

Great insight.
The one thing I always found odd was with the way the film dealt with non-tamil speaking characters. I had seen Thuppakki roughly the same time as Vishwaroopam. Thuppakki had non-tamil characters speak hindi, which was drowned out by tamil being dubbed over. I thought this was a rather clever way of dealing with the issue. Whereas Vishwaroopam had a scene where two afghanis are sitting in a van and talking in tamil. It took me out of the film. But it's weird that it's a Kaml film which took the easy way out and have non-tamil characters converse in tamil

Sharath Nb it is called Film analysis I studied at a film institute there we have separate classes for Film Analysis that was the most important for Director , Cinematographer,Editor etc We have to study the characters ,what director trying to say in this shot?? ,why the shot is kept like this ?? We have to analyse every scene like this, first we have to gain a basic knowledge about the Shots used in Cinematography Like this it goes on and on ...Simple aa sonna have to watch too many good world movies

When Rajeev Masand reviewed this, he called it "unbashedly entertaining, although you wish it were smarter" despite being made keeping the Hindi backdrop in mind without be classified as a dubbing (most Northie people still assume, south matlab dubbing. ) Really glad when you called this a "dumb action movie with smarts" because that's what this is. As good as a Ludlum novel. BR for a reason! :)

Ragul L I don't think so. For the sake of analysis, he must have watched it many times. its difficult to get metaphors and allegories in a single glance
It's good for making analysis videos but you lose the magic. Film makers intentionally keep such things as subtexts which the viewers absorb without knowing the technicalities. If you go explain all the making techniques, i would say the magic gets lost. Just My opinion.
