  • Took the dredge out for the first time. It was cold in the water, and I had no idea how to do it so I just jumped in. This is an awesome piece to have if you are a prospector. Skip the highbanker and go right to the dredge!!!! made the work so much easier.
    We ran for about 1.5 - 2 hours, and pulled gold. Ohio has fine-flour gold. I feel for lack of experience, we did alright. We did run again a few days later and did much better. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video! Definitely getting another Keene instead. The pumps are night and day as far as volume of water.

    You intake hose needs to be behind the dredge so you don't pick up tailings from your discharge. ruin your pump.

      We only got to get it out a few times before it got to cold to get in the creek. But it goes together easy, runs nice and is easy to use.I cant say anything bad about this little dredge. Here in Ohio we have fine flour gold, and we are catching it. So Im happy with it. We went with the 2.5 inch nozzle, it was like another 100 bucks extra. This little dredge moves a good bit of dirt. Hope that helps you out and thanks for watching!!

    Hi m8 180ft down to bedrock well maybe you should go somewhere else with your dredge
    I never want to move more than 10 inches of gravel hardpack it just takes to long .I try to pick my battles with my small keene and stay on bedrock for as long as possible that's were the gold gets stuck in cracks .your dredge like mine is much better than a big dredge at crack cleaning .The river I go too has very fine gold and I do better were the bedrock is just showing in the river .anyways m8 I hope your pan is full oh gold .
    Cheers
    Jolhn

    next time use a detector to sweep the site. practice first with bagged sand at the hardware store. Most bags have three to five bucks of fine flour gold. Good video. good try with the dredge.

    • @ringomayhem
      @ringomayhem  Před 9 lety

      The gold is real fine. Would a metal detector pick up flour gold?

    • @Diebulfrog79
      @Diebulfrog79 Před 9 lety

      yes, in spots under rocks and stones. Gold detector, not a metal detector for that fine work. Most metal detectors will whine out. I hope this help you .

    I would be in a wetsuit floating on the water while I did this. Doing it this way would put such a strain on your back.

    • @ringomayhem
      @ringomayhem  Před 6 lety

      It can strain the back some.When its warm I tend to be in the water more. but not owning a wetsuit, and being november in ohio this is the best that I could do. thanks for watching!

    I don't think that your dredge motor is going to last long m8 ,i have a keen with the same motor and i only need to run mine at 75% it will last longer if your running a motor at 100% you should have got a bigger dredge. As for using a dredge u want to be on bedrock get in the river with a mask and you can see what ure up against hope this helps m8. You can find me on youtube ,remember i was once like you happy hunting m8

      John Mcskimming thanks for the input. they tell me that at the claim I have access to that you cant hit bedrock. they told me it was 180 feet down. So I dunno. Its glacier gold, real fine stuff. As far as dredge size, I needed something I could afford to haul. I can put this on the back of my car and go. Hope that the motor keeps on plugging away, that thing aint cheap! lol Good luck

      You're better off with a KEENE or PROLINE Dredge. There built much better at holding gold and have been building dredges for a long time..What size dredge were you wanting?

  • @TheCominghome
    @TheCominghome Před 7 lety

    You will wear out the dredge long before you pay for it at that rate......you need to pick your spots better.

    • @ringomayhem
      @ringomayhem  Před 7 lety

      this is the claim we had access to. Plus we had no idea what we were doing. I doubt we would have ever paid it off with the flour gold you get in ohio. But it was fun.

      It moves a good amout of dirt, but in Ohio we have very fine gold. So I haven't gotten much to speak of. But It gets me outside and it is fun. thanks for watching!
