Not sure if you knew this, but I remember seeing a Footlocker add from like 1991 or 1992 with the Air Flight 89 and it also had a Velcro top on them with the laces underneath. That was the most outrages version of these, which have never been re-released. Would've loved to see if anyone had an OG pair of that.

I was able to play in the OG of this shoe way back in HS. The cushion was really soft and bouncy, plus being the 1st ever Air product I wore, I was convinced that I did jump a couple of inches higher than normal. So much so that when my cousins asked that's what I told them. 😆😆😆😆
They completely ruined these shoes, Jordan 2/3 by far are the best looking lows for this year hands down.
We need this quality treatment on the Nike Air Trainer Lows along with better cushioning. The quality of the last releases were so bad
I have several of the recent colors of the 89 and like them a lot. But man I'd really like to see you and others address model's like the Air Force V low that has yet to be retro'd? I had two pairs of the white, black, crushed orange colorway back in highschool and was my absolute favorite model. We need these brought back so bad! So many haven't experienced how good those shoes really were because they haven't retro'd them! I love the variety of models you review compared to many other CZcamsrs BTW.

This era of Nike, I was more into the CrossTrainers and the Tech Challenges but this shoe looks great! Might have to take a trip to the mall this weekend and check them out.

WAY to come on STRONG JODI!!! 89 Lower…that was worth the price of admission! 😂😂❤🫡 In all seriousness..I think Jodi gave them the solution, just keep that as the low and the “original” low…rebranded as the Mid. I actually like it. Like you said, they actually made the necessary adjustments to make it look good, instead of just chopping off the top. As for the question of the day, I tried really hard to see if I could come up with valid reasons to pick any other option, but the spoon is the only practical one.

I used to have the shiny blue ones w lime green flight on tongue and laceholes.
Finally Nike gave these decent materials. Such an underrated shoe.
They are prolly close to retroing the Flight High so they felt it would be right to make differentiate them as much as possible
The new ones look slick. I wish I could have these but I'll definitely add them to my visual collection
I bought a pair of air trainers last December and the leather on them is so good. Nice and tumbled soft and very wearable.
Air flight 89 low v2. 🤭🙃 They’re 👍🏼 but, I’ll keep it lit with the traditional lows.
I’d definitely go with a spoon. Fresh coconuts and cantaloupes everyday. 😊👍🏼
I love Flight 89, but I remember all 3 of my early 2000 pairs had "crumbled up thread" stuffed as the out-sole of the inside. They need to be cut it in half to see if Nike still does that.

89 'Lower' is even better than when Nike tried to be controversial by using Industrial Blue.. I use my Flight 89's to work every now and then and am certain the midsole is of a softer compound, also they have more toe space than an Air Jordan 4.
Air Flight Legacy is even more simpler and cleaner looking than the Air Flight 89.
These look nice, back in 7th grade a guy in my class had the black & white ones. I wanted a pair so bad.
Spot on Chris! I was in 8th grade in 1989 and these to me are classics that have been mishandled. These "lowers" are a waste of time. Greed is killing Nike. By the way, We need you in Beaverton!

1: I remember trying on the og "mids" in grade school, and the upper was way too stiff. It might be worth a try-on just to see if the "lowers" feels any better.
2: I did have the flight lite "lows" in middle school. It's making me wonder when exactly "mid" got added into Nike's product labeling.
3: Q.O.T.D. spoon, as long as we're assuming it's metal.
I used to play in these but for I suppose now the "lower" version might be the move... kinda crazy they did this

Big fan of the 89 low, possibly because of Pippen. But the first retro I got of these the materials were worse than crap. I'd be very interested to see these in hand, but ultimately hesitant to purchase.

I mean, yeah the OG "low" was a low in the sense that it wasn't halfway up your shins like the high was, but I agree, this was such a weird choice to change it.. and then go crazy with the leather like they didn't just adulterate the silhouette. Strange.

These remind me of the Nike Air Condor low from 2009.
Yeah, pretty weird but hey, considering the high top version is high af a mid version of that would be like a J1 high og in terms of height, but those were different times and almost nobody makes those super high kicks no more and those low are more a mid than anything else, compared to it’s “cousin” the J4 or even the J3 for example. It happens something similar to the Blazer where it’s not as high as a J1 for example or a Dunk High but it’s pretty close, and they label it as a mid, and they came out with something like the Blazer CS (which was an SB) that was basically a Blazer Mid cut like a Half Cab or something like that, making it a truer mid than the “real” mid haha which is ridiculoous but hey, Nike being Nike. Talking about these, they’re pretty nice and thank god the materials are nice like they were in the Stüssy collaborations, it’s very nice they didn’t use the same plasticky leather as they did with the OG low

So you must have heard of the Stussy Flight 89 ? Right ? I have the black pair. There was also a red and a pecan version. They are same low and short swoosh type model. I'm a huge 89 flight fan and this is the same profile model shape etc. You should do a review of the Stussy/Flight 89s man. Wicked idea ! Love the vidz as always NightWing
