Israel at War: A Special Tikvah Briefing with Elliott Abrams

The world changed on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists breached Israel's borders by sea, land, and air, occupied over twenty Israeli communities, murdered hundreds, wounded thousands of Israeli civilians, and captured over one hundred Israeli children, women, and men as hostages inside of Gaza. The Jewish state now finds itself at war with Hamas, fighting to eliminate the threat from its enemies and defend its citizens.
To help us understand these momentous events, Tikvah hosted a special strategic briefing with our chairman, Elliott Abrams, and CEO, Eric Cohen, on October 9, 2023.
As one of the preeminent foreign policy experts and policymakers on Israel and the Middle East, Mr. Abrams provided an overview of the origins, strategic objectives, and opening tactical maneuvers of this war. Looking at Hamas and the Palestinians, Iran and the region, Israel and the United States, Mr. Abrams analyzed what's happened, and helped us understand what may come next.
Mr. Cohen also offered some short reflections on Tikvah's overall strategy and spirit in this defining moment in Jewish and Zionist history, when our people and our ideals are under attack. Tikvah Israel Director-General Amiad Cohen also joined us briefly from the front, where he has been called up to fight.
