    Did you know that during the process the curing resin in the fiberglass gives off a lot of heat from the chemical process?

    This was a great video, something that is needed and often overlooked when a customer doesn't know anything and needs to justify a significant expense vs some other low budget deal.

    Did not know how boats were assembled. Didn’t know so much was still done by human-hand/skill. That’s nice to see. Very interesting and cool idea for a video. 🇨🇦👍🏼

    I used to do all that - 95% assembly but when the glaziers were really busy I’d jump in and roll the glass too. Best job I’ve ever had. Calais boats.

    Hey sean can you do a video on Bayliner boats? They get a bad rep, but the new VR series specifically looks very promising. Curious to hear what an expert in the industry thinks.

    Great video! I never knew these were basically completely handmade. No wonder the prices LoL!

    Is it true that the V in the keel area is usually double thickness to take the stress of accidental grounding , loading on trailer or blocking during winter ? Great video - Thank you

    Thanks for vedio! Besides big parts, the hull and deck, are there any other small fiberglass parts?

    Cars are not painted last, after the body is assembled it is dipped in acid, then e coat primer, then primed and painted before any of the parts are added on

      Yes and the point was that the finish cows on after the structure is created (the reverse of a boat). What you say is true

    Great video! As an engineer who has a 28 foot Southern Cross sailboat, I am looking to understand how much materials and labor go into the making of a boat. This video provided me with a wealth of information. If you can, please tell me what the maximum thickness of the hull?
    Thank you!
    Tim

      not thick enough for your boat not to sink at the slight graze of a rock...

    No wonder they're so goddamned expensive! Intensive hands on labor.

    Notice took down or removed my comment about the mastercraft vid used. Like the channel and the vids. However if that is a stringer system and not a jig setup for installing stringers then that looks like wood. Mastercraft states no wood in their boats. Have said that for over last 30 years. Owned 3 over time. Hope that is not a false statement. It would be disappointing. Since i like the boats.

    • @moin4183
      @moin4183 Před 3 lety

      Stringers and floor / transom are probably made out of wood, almost a 100% certain.

    • @willtell7023
      @willtell7023 Před 3 lety

      @@moin4183 Have owned 3 MaterCrafts since 1988. Claim is no wood. The last two owned I know did not have wood. The 1988 boat is suspect....

    Fiberglass is not stronger than steel lol.

      You are right, i am guessing he meant to say that strength to weight ratio is better than steel.
