- Here we are with the final installment of what was simply a Unimog build project, that turned into something more. Episode 4 is all about the diorama base. In this, I work-out the layout, add the ground textures...and also add a resin water element.

A very beautiful little scene in the African bush! The figures go perfectly with the Daimler truck and the small water hole is another eye-catcher! Top created! Cheers, John
Thank you for watching and your kind words. Take care.
....forgoten war.... Thank s for all the (hard) memories... Its an other master-peace👍
Thank you.
Another beautiful creation Rick, well done sir! Great to see the not often modelled Rhodesian bush war.
Thanks, Joe.
Cracking job, from the beginning to the end, impressive attention to details...I especially like your work on the ground and water...👍👍
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it and perhaps found something useful.
I bought the MMI magazine of your build in Aug/23. Just found your videos today. Great diorama and videos. I have a Revell Unimog that I want to build as a Rhodesian vehicle. This will help in my build.
Thanks...good luck and have fun.
Hi Rick, that turned ouf absolutely outstanding, it is perfection at its best, congratulations on a excellent build, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Thank you, Les.
Absolutely love your loose, painterly style with the groundwork. The wet on wet acrylic blends really make for a great backdrop and seem much more naturally random and textured than an airbrushed finish
"...loose, painterly style..." = lazy. Thanks Chris.
Nicely done Rick. Thank you for taking an interest in my home country and honouring the veterans of that war. Sadly most of the men who fought in it on both sides have reached an age where they are leaving us for good and with them goes their knowledge and experiences. Through art like yours they remain present in our consciousness.
Hello Sean. Thank you for your very kind, and thoughtful remarks. I'll admit that I knew very little about these events before beginning this...and honestly, my knowledge now is still very superficial. I'm very glad that you enjoyed the work.
Hi Seam, that was verh well said, Rick is a true artist with his dioramas, very best regards to you and your family from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
This is a late reply Rick but, I have seen your work for years and you impress me with everything you do. Well done and will be watching for the next great work. Great instruction!!!
Thanks, Bob. I really appreciate your comment and I'm glad that you are enjoying the work. Take care.
Yep the back looks better with more storage. I guess I better take a look at my teabag strings! Good idea.

Another amaaaazing build Rick. Your groundwork is so tasty. I also agree that looking into resin water is unsightly, unless there's something specific to see in the water.
Thanks, Daniel. You are TOO kind. Yea, the water thing...it's probably just me (and apparently you as well?) but it just never made sense to me when considering the overall presentation.
Fantastic work Rick the picture is completely correct...
Thank you, Danny.
Excellent result. Looks great! ;)
Thanks, my friend.
The scene is quite simple but eye catching, very well done, the truck is one of my favorites, good work, Rick
Thanks, buddy!
Awesome inspiration. Much appreciated! Great job!
My pleasure! Thanks.
I visited family in Rhodesia in 1973. You have really caught the feel of the place in this diorama. Nicely done.
That's nice to hear. Having never been, it's always sort of a crap-shoot whether or not you can capture the atmosphere.
excellent little Dio Rick you done a great work !
Very much appreciated.
Wow Rick!!! That came out amazing!!! I love the colors and the water looked great. Take care, Bill
Thanks, Bill.
Absolutely brilliant! A great size diorama packed with such eye-catching and interesting features. The vehicle, the terrain, and the figures blended perfectly😀 Another triumph Rick. Very well done!
Thanks, Vincent. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
Very nice, and a unique subject. Thanks
Many thanks!
Always perfect! God job!
Thanks for watching, Bart.
Professional as always.
Thank you.
Amazing diorama, Rick! Super work! :)
Thank you, very much.
You're a master!
Ryan, thank you. Although, I'm far from a master.
Great stuff !
thanks, Brian
good work models will never be spot on it is what it is nice work keep them coming
Thanks!
great base Rick!
Thank you.
Great work! I really like african vehicles and tanks, it's pretty unusual compared to Vietnam, Afghanistan etc.
I agree, and it gave me a good reason to do some research.
Great series of vids thanks for sharing✌Canada✌
Thanks, James. Nice to hear from you.
Good Day Modelcomrade
Great Diorama
Exelent Unimog
Figures and Terrain
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍😃From me for the work
Greets from Christian at Germany 😊
Thank you, Christian.
Very nice 👍
Thanks, Dave.
Hi Rick, I was curious if you have to wear a mask when mixing the resin? I’m new to modeling and would like to try the AK product, but am trying to take care of my health too. Thanks for the great tutorials!
Hi. I don't wear a mask, but it wouldn't be a bad idea. I tend to be fairly "cavalier" when using paints and other products, and I'll probably come to regret it at some point? Do what makes you comfortable.
Killer
Cheers!
🤝🎥👍
Cheers, mate!
👍👍👍 Sorry, I'm tardy...
Glad you made it, my friend. Cheers!
Why don't we look inside earth? There's an idea. A taller diorama and you can see into the ground. The top has the dio and water, etc. On the other side you have a dino bones inside the ground.
Your next dio? Thanks for watching.
@@RickLawlerPropaganda Maybe. Some Abrams variant being reloaded and refueled with dinojuice while on being on top of dinobones...
Adding water - You always will find a way to over engineer your builds lol!
Just having fun!!!! Thanks, Zal.
@@RickLawlerPropaganda looking forward to the next adventure!
“Incredible”, “mesmerising”, “awe-inspiring”…. Come on, I enjoy your videos but it’s just a standard diorama and disappointing that you feel the need to use such language to promote your own work in this way.
I was playing around with Chat GPT to see what it comes up with. I take it your not a fan
@@RickLawlerPropaganda yeah, I just think that hype language devalues the channel. Like I said, I enjoy your work and the video production. It’s our hobby after all and the self-hype language for a “standard” diorama just makes me cringe. No offence intended in any case.
@@jerka7 I appreciate your honesty. I've already made some changes to the description. Best be to be myself. Thanks.
i agree with the language being pretty cringy but the reason those are popular titles as it bring in new viewers and grows the channel and isnt for the regulars, so occasionally i think is fine
