Can't wait....but M16s were super rare, very late war use. FN FALs, G-3s and Aks were the norm.
Hey Ryan. Yea, I realize the weapons issues, but finding suitable looking Rhodesian figures was tough enough, let alone finding figures with proper weapons.
Italeri modern weapons set has FN-FAL’s and G-3’s
@@christopherhayes3742 Dragon had a set of Vietnam War weapons that included an L1A1 (FAL) and G-3 as well as all sorts of modern and WWII weapons; set is hard to find now and outrageously expensive if you do. I bought several back in the day and am still using them.
Bravo 6 also makes some beautiful L1A1s but are also hard to come by; they're supposed to be releasing a Rhodesian set of FALs in the near future.
@@mh53j I have a few of the Dragon kits and a couple of the Italeri ones, just said Italeri because they seem easier to find and not cost as much.
Flawless work Rick, well done indeed. If I may comment on some aspects of the figures. I’m fortunate to have actual Rhodesian bush war uniforms from my father who served in the armed forces there so I have been able to work on the colours against them. I have found through loads of experimenting the following are really good start points for the Camo: base sand colour Tamiya xf88, red brown Tamiya xf64, deep green xf26 and the webbing is xf51. As per a few comments I have seen it would be best to replace the m16 with an FN Fal (Bravo6 do a set B635327) Bravo6 have also launched a Rhodesian set of 2 figures (b635206) they call them Selous Scouts but I think they are actually RLI troopers. I have also in the past used their New Zealand SAS set called Jungle make up (b635019) just replace one of the rifles for an FAL. Finally Bravo6 35330 RAR infantry could also be good options. One final word, the camo used on the weapons was also the green / baby poop that you nailed on the vehicle. Please don’t take this as criticism, I would just love to see it a little more accurate.
Sean. Thanks for your insights, very informative. Until a couple of weeks ago I really had no knowledge of this subject and have been trying to play "catch-up" at best I can. In addition, the figures especially proved to be a problem sourcing. I hadn't come across the B6 rifle set, the other figures you mention seem to be out of stock (unavailable) during my searches. I don't take anything that you have brought to my attention as criticism, so please don't fret about that, you have been very helpful. Whether or not I make any changes on this one...honestly, probably not simply due to the time/posting schedules. Thanks again.
Really nice Rick. People have no idea how much research goes into the dioramas. I start off on my computer with a folder and as I do my research on the Internet, I keep pulling photos into it that have to do with my project either the vehicle uniforms buildings or landscape, ground colors, etc. plants. I really enjoy that part too.

Excellent as always Rick! Too bad you didn't come across Bravo 6s box set of Selous Scouts. One standing and the other kneeling down as though he is analyzing some tracks he discovered on the ground. They carry FN FALs, have the appropriate head gear and webbing and they both wear shorts! Oh well, gotta make do with what you can find, eh.
Hi Joe. Yes, I'm aware of the Selous Scouts set, but unfortunately they seem unavailable during my search attempts. Thus, I made due with what I found available. No problem finding a WW2 Panzer commander, but so many other great subjects and era's are under-represented. I guess the market dictates.
These show up regularly on eBay (been on my watch list for some time) but are from China - think we know what that means.
I love your Cpt. Price. :) It's interesting to see pros paint... The way you do skin is very similar to high end figurines and statues are painted.
Next time you break something like the gun, try and pin it for gluing?

Great figures Rick!!! I like the magenta underneath, I used crimson as a glaze over the flesh tone and it worked ok, but I will try it as a base and then go flesh tone like you did. I think you might have covered it all up for the tanner tones, but I still think thats a great process and of course they both came out great. Thanks again Rick!!! Bill

Some Falklands War British troops could have worked as well as they come with the correct backpacks & FAL rifles used by Rhodesia.
Both companies are from Russia. I am a little proud :) very nice figures.

Yes, I understand that Bravo 6 and TaNK both offer figures and/or weapons sets that are more appropriate....however, given that they (the figure companies) are both Russian based, and given the current situation it is VERY difficult to find them on the market. I tried. Good to hear from you, and I hope you are doing well.
