Visit hamandscan.com/ for more videos and great deals! This video is intended to give you an idea how the radio looks and sounds. I also added a quick mic overview. A more in depth review will be done soon I hope.
Nice video....just got my 7000 and there is a lot of options on it....I am still an "old fashioned" HF cw opr guy for over 50 years and am used to simple operations....I am still living the 60's with simpler equipment to operate, but took a chance in getting this rig....I got a lot to learn about it and your video just got my feet wet (lol)...I hope I don't have to go back to school to figure out all the gadgets on this one....so thanks for the video!...lost in space de K8ESE :)
It’s by far the BEST of the BEST mobile Amateur Radio EVER produced hands down.I now own one for the Fourth time because it’s the Only HF Mobile I ever want.🎙
@@applejacks971 you could never give me another 857D.It’s a total POS and I’d refuse it or the POS ATAS 120A antenna.I replaced them with an ICOM 7000 & a TARHEEL II & it was like turning on the Sun vs Total Darkness.Buy the ICOM 7000 if you can find one and you are the WINNER.
I also replaced a Yaesu FT-857D with an ICOM 7000 & it was an AWESOME decision.I consider the 857D by far the WORST Amateur Radio I have ever owned or used. The ICOM 7000 blows it away in every way.YAESU = Yet Another Excuse Simply Useless.🎙
It's actually a small 8 inch video screen I bought off ebay made by Pyle. It comes with the video cables which you can easily connect to the radio. Hope this helps.
Very nice. Answered a lot of questions I had. I just passed the test for the Technician license last week and waiting to get my call sign. I talked to HRO today in their New Hampshire store about this transceiver. Got a price and info on an antenna power supply etc. I see a 7" monitor for this and will definitely add that and maybe a different mic. Think this is the way to go for me. Thanks for the great informative video.
An external speaker definitely sounds better than the built in one! I'm just using a Uniden. I just bought mine pre-owned from a club member because I wanted 2M SSB. It's a nice Rig & a bit of a learning curve to program manually but it can be done. I wished that it had Cross-Band repeat. The unit runs quite a bit warm & the internal fan doesn't turn on unless very hot, per the comments on the internet. I already had two small cooling fans, so I have that under control though. (one to suck the heat out & the other to cool the heat sink on the rear of the unit. 73 Bill
Watched this over view quite good and looked through your videos for the follow up vids and there is none .? Why did you not do some ,,,, thanks Shane uk
What mic mod are you referring to? AB5n does an excellent modification and also puts a weight in your mike for a better feel. QRZ AB5N for more info. I have two mics for mine one made in Japan (modded) and the other made in china. The Chinese one is unchanged.
I have the Japanese version of this radio. It does not go into the 440 to 450 area of 70 centimeter band nor the 146 to 148 area of the 2 meter band. Do you have any ideas on what I should do? Will a MARS modification fix the issue?
I think i will probably get one soon great radio, but then the ic 706 was a great great radio i still have 2....this one is just an up grade to the 706.
my 7000 arrives tomorrow, watching this video makes me really excited to have it arriving. sending the 7100 back to get this one, just dont like the 7100. KF5YSW
Really wish there were a Chinese copy of this or the ic706mk2g... Really sad that the budget mobile all mode HF/VHF/UHF market isn't larger and/or without having to drop $1000. I really like the smaller mobiles. See if I can pick one of these or the 706 up used, but many people just aren't willing to part with them.
Just pick this up used. Never had a radio with so many buttons. Had to download the manual and it is very worded. Might have some questions 73 KQ4CDPaul
I just got my IC-7000 last week! It's an earlier Model, but it seems to Work ok.. I also have Several other Radio's as Well! Where I'm Having Trouble, is Saving Repeaters to Memory! It's my 1st Icom. I'm used to my Yaesu FT-2900R, FT-897 and my FTdx3000. I can Manually Tune my Wouxun. Also my Baofeng UV-82 and UV5R 7/W, without any problems,.... Guess I'll have to Wait for Someone assistance. I was Hopeful, .. that someone, May have Posted a "Saving to Memory" Class, on the IC-7000 Somewhere?!?! If Anyone could Point me in the Right direction, Please! Thank You, for Your Time! -Thom KD8RWR

I wish they weren't getting so expensive. These and the 857's are getting pretty ridiculous. This would match my ftm400xdr.

Love this radio, will be getting one my self.
I just ordered a used one of these. It should be here this next week, kind of excited as it will replace my FT-857D . Thanks for the overview.

The large frequency knob is not on a pot it is actually a digital encoder. The original ic 706 had the same thing ! Probably 20 years ago.
Thanks for the over. Vew of the icon 7000. I have one in the box but my health has kept me from working with it.

Hey KD8CHM, I just bought one. Your video helped tremendously. How did you link your control panel to your PC screen?
Yes. I should do a small video on the mic soon!
Thanks and that is a nifty little idea!
Nice radio as I've just bought one and very impressed but would like more imfo please so can you make some more instructions videos...mike in the uk
Might want to explain the one gap in your presentation...the F1 anf F2 buttons on the mic.

7100 SUCKS.ICOM 7000 is the KING of Mobile Radios.👍👏🎙
I really like that rig but I worry about getting into a wreck if trying to operate it while driving.
It’s not difficult if you program it before you install it.
What is the display in the background?
Standard interface or homebrew?
Everyone wants the ic-7300 so more of these radios should be for sale.
I would not take a Case of 7300’s for my ICOM 7000 if I had to keep them and use them.😂🤣
Awesome, Love it. I don't really know whether to get a Yaesu, Kenwood, or an Icom???????
The ICOM 7000 blows all mobile radios away with ease.
I'm so jealous, I want one, haha! Nice radio and review, if I ever try to get another one, this will be the one.

Xiegu G-90 is similar to this radio. Check out the specs on CZcams!

It’s not a difficult radio to operate.People make it appear to be far more difficult than it appears.
Thanks!
What is a Cadilak?
cool radio
