- I'm so proud to introduce you to my Grandma Anneli and do a house tour at her home! In this video, I'll share 7 cool things at my granny's home here in Finland.
From raising and selling chicks 🐥 at their farmhouse in the Satakunta region to working & retiring as a manager in Helsinki, she is soon turning 85 and in her own words starting to feel " a little bit old". Her curiousness and openness inspire me daily.

Isn’t it interesting that worrying about things at night is a universally human thing! Thanks for sharing grandma!
Thank you so much!🧡🙏
I also note the shelves with books. It is so often the case that when you enter a home here in the US, you wonder, "where are the books." No books, no mind.
What a lovely visit with your grandma.

Congratulations on having a wonderful Grandmother
Tämä on niin söpöä! Kyyneleet silmissäni tätä katsoessani - kiitos, että jaoit henkilökohtaisen elämäsi kanssamme.
Kiitos kommentista George! 😍 Ihanaa kun tykkäsit!!
Thank You both for this wonderful video, and now I want more with Grandma! I could just feel the love and respect between the two of you, and I'm so glad you have this close relationship. I love the story of the cowhouse and the chickens! I also understand the Busy hands and creativity. Both my Grandma's and Mother had so much creativity. It is so dear that you have a phone visit everyday, cherish that. My Grandma couldn't speak or understand anything but Finnish, so I could never speak to her. She passed when I was 14. But I would sit and watch her as she baked, tended her chickens while singing, made a bed, or laid the coffee time table. She had a shy and reserved kindness that I love to remember when I need a lift. Hearing your Grandma's sweet voice speaking Finnish brought a lump to my throat in the best way :)
Thank you for commenting and sharing your story Melrose! 🧡🧡🧡
Hello there how are you doing
These few minutes are such a bliss to see and hear, it almost made me shed tears. Your relationship is beautiful and inspirational, I think if all of us had such a strong bond with our grandparents or just one of them, we would be happier and so much wiser. Thank you for this intimate and exceptional piece of life that you showed us. ♥I wish all the best to both of you!
Thank you so much❣️🇫🇮 I'm so happy you liked the video!
She so talented, and gifted and smart.
That was a lovely video. Thank you both. Great advice from grandma too 💖
Thank you for your comment Amy! 🧡
Your grandma is so cute. Varpu, you have a beautiful cheerful personality that shines your outer beauty even more. I enjoyed watching your lovely video. 🍀
I bought the Oulu shirt for my son because that's the part of Finland our ancestors are from, going back hundreds of years. Yes, I take my coffee extra strong.
Thank you for sharing this!
It's great that you treasure her. I too had an awesome and super crafty grandmother. She could make anything soft, and my grandfather made anything with hard materials (wood, metal) haha
Thank you for your comment Harry! 🧡
Thank you so much for this video. I too spoke with my grandmother everyday. My grandfather actually came to the United States when he was 3 years old. I love learning about the Finnish culture. It explains alot of what makes me who I am.
Precious. Simply precious! :)

Brought back precious memories from my grandma, Hilma Vaalimaa who grew up on a farm in the Jalasjarvi area, I had a great respect for her and she also taught me many life lessons, thanks for sharing Finnish culture with us

If you make a part 2 in this series, I would like to know what your grandmother's most interesting books are please.
Love this, I'll remember to inscribe the same words of wisdom and reassurance on the wall right above my bed space
Varpu, isoäitisi on erittäin ihana ja viisas nainen. Suuri kunnioitus hänelle Yhdysvalloista!
LOVE THIS!! My Grandma was also my favorite person!
Hey good afternoon beautiful how are you doing today hope you're having a wonderful afternoon
Kiitos. 👍🙂👍
When I was much younger I spent 2 years in Suomi and learned to love the language and the people. One of the best parts was listening to the old folks talk about how things were during the Winter War and the Continuation War against Russia. How they suffered, eating bread partially made with sawdust, since there wasn't enough flour. And how hard they fought to stay free. Rakastan Soumen Sisu.
Thank you for such a sweet comment!
Now I see why you're so lovely with such a marvelous granny you didn't have a chance to be a different person 😂 Thank you for sharing your touching relationship. Wish you all the best to your wonderful family ❤

"Joulupuu on rakennettu, joulu on jo ovella"...Hyvää Joulua. I used to sing this when I was a child in Finland and we lit real candles on our Christmas tree back in the fifties. Best wishes to you.
My wife has kept our house full of Finnish designs, Marimekko, Alvar Aalto , Iitalla , Arabia etc.

I smiled at the birch iPad stand. How clever, pretty and eco friendly. When I got my first laptop, I added little angled plastic feet to it. 😂
I am going to assume tomorrow that things will go well. Thank you for the reminder.
Varpu, löysin juuri kanavasi, se on kaunis! Asun Ruotsissa ja opiskelen suomea (mieheni on suomalainen ;), mietin, aiotteko tehdä joitain videoita "helppo suomeksi", vain suomeksi. Sitä etsin, harjoittelua. Mielenkiintoista myös jonkin verran kulttuuria! Kiitos työstäsi! Ceci
Ohh yee with Varpu!
So schön!🥰

You and your grandma are both so adorable! 🥰Honestly, it makes my heart so happy to see the strong bond that the two of you share. She is a very wise and crafty woman. Seeing her knit pieces and the clothing that she's made makes me think of the knitwear and embroidery my grandma made too. 🌺
Thank you so much!🧡🙏

So enjoyed the video of your grandma and her simple yet beautiful home. The picture of the two of you at the end on the couch brought tears to my eyes, because I have a very similar beautiful picture of my mother with my daughter sitting on her sofa before she passed. away. Love to you both.

Thank you, Grandma Anneli, for your advice ♥️
❣️
Thanks for this. Grandma is beautiful! Varpo can you do a video on: a) What is typical Finnish food? What do people eat usually? Is there something very Finnish? and b) How do Finns discipline their children, like when they misbehave, speak rudely to a parent or have a temper tantrum? I'm very interested in this!
Thank you for the ideas! I will keep these in mind!

Mam this is my first time that visits your channel and I like your blogs... It's great to meet you here. Well, I live in India and coming to the wonderful country Finland in August for my further master's degree MBA in Project Management at Helsinki.
Sometimes, I am upset by those who are day by day spreading regarding job market situations are not as much as good compared to other's countries. I would glad if you spread some of your experience after completing my Project Management in Finland like what is the scope of it and suggestions from your side if you have any.....

"All is well" is very good advice indeed. One of my favourite sayings when anyone asks how everything is going. So I can relate with your Grandma.
Wonderful to see such a good, strong connection between you and your Grandma. Good solid family values.
Finnish ways are good ways in my experience. And you are correct about the Finnish ingenuity with their art, designs, craftsmanship. So unique and created to work well whatever they are. Always thoroughly enjoy my visits into Finland. I actually feel at home there - flying above the forests and the lakes gives me shivers up the spine.
