      Master Wong I like your all your video and this dog self difference I like. I practice Hanmudo at my Grand Masters dojo. We also train for dog attacks. One of the self defense we practice is awareness of biology of dogs have long rib cage. (1)So we practice by taking shirt of fast as possible and wrap around arm and prepare for possible attack. (2) bait the dog for arm attack. (3) if dog bite we quickly get on our back on the ground and quickly wrap legs around dog Rib cage section and squeeze till break the rib cage. It will more the likely kill the dog but definitely stop the dog. It is our last step defense against a dog. The have very weak rib cage. This method will sacrifice a few stitches to the arm but it is affective. I would like to see a video from you explaining your ways and ideas on actual dog fights if possible. I’m a big fan of yours and Win Chun. I wish we had Win Chun in Baton Rouge LA, it would be a real treat and contrabution to see you at one of our seminars for Martial Arts and cultural exchange 🙏I i I I watch and hope to learn as much as possible from every video you make. They are very good. Down loading your app now. Thanks again Master Wong! 🙏

I kicked him on the side of his neck, just hard enough to make him turn and run away. So yeah, a good kick to the neck works. Btw, I kept that cat for 3 years. She was loving and adorable. Unfortunately, she died from feline leukemia but she lives on in my heart and memories.

And I only pin her because she gives in. Best of luck doing this against any dog and for sure a Rottweiler too. I feel you have to go in for the kill and take the bite if left with no choice and you better have something to stab that dog with to kill it and so you can cut it off of you after it bleeds out if your don't bleed out first.

    Other tips (to avoid a fight):
    - Pick up a rock (even just pretend to) and threaten to throw it at their face - most dogs run away when faced with this
    - If attacked by a pack then throw as many rocks at them as you can pick up. Dont let a pack surround you
    - Verbal commands like NO and STOP often work
    - Threaten with a stick
    - Remove your belt and swing it at them
    - I hike carrying a walking stick and a good size fixed blade knife on my belt (if it bit already stab it in the neck and chest)
    - Never show fear or back down in a confrontation with an aggressive dog. Stand your ground, show force and authority.
    If it takes a step to you to test you, take a bigger step to it threatening it.
    Never let them intimidate you, show them who's the BOSS.
    - First thing is to not be anxious at all. Relax, talk to the dog in a friendly way, give food if you have, allow it to smell your left hand etc.
    All of the above is for when you failed to calm the dog.
    These techniques will deter attacks in ~80% cases but dogs that are viscious will not be deterred and will bite you anyway.
    In a fight:
    - Hammer punches hurt more if you hold something hard sticking out the side of your hand (stick, lighter, sturdy torch, tightly rolled magazine)
    - If it bites you try to get on top of it (Dogs cant wrestle), press your knee on its neck to block the airways, hit its face like you want to break its jaw
    - If it bites you bash its head with a rock or stab it if you have a knife
    - Unconfirmed: throw a monumental slap right on its ear (it works good on humans anyway)

  • @charlesb7831
    @charlesb7831 Před 6 lety +26

    Unfortunately I've had 3 separate dog attack incidents while walking my dog with other off leash dogs. Trying to get a lager dog in a headlock isn't going to happen and you're on the ground off your feet puts you in a very dangerous situation. Couple of weeks ago my dog which is 117lbs was attacked by another 100lbs dog. I made the mistake of being dragged down holding on to two 100lbs plus dogs. As soon as I got up out came my baton as last resort and I managed to drive off the other dog without striking him but merely having the baton deployed and being more aggressive then the other dog worked in this situation. If the dog was more aggressive probably would have been a different outcome.
    I've also had a dog bite my arm and latch, I jumped on top of him and rammed my arm down his throat. I'm only 150lbs and the dog was over 100lbs. Never pull if the dog has a hold of you, you'll do more damage. By forcing my arm down his throat he had to release or choke. These are just unfortunate circumstances I ended up in and was my experiences.
    I only trained in Mid west Karate for about 6-7 years when I was younger and some additional military type later. I'm by no means an expert in anything except my experience with this. Only reason I commented was because like real combat and dog attacks, it's dynamic and fast moving. Dogs will never let you get around the neck /throat area they panic and get more aggressive.
    Great video's and content, cheers!

    I've been attacked a few times and safely walked away. I used an open umbrella as a shield and it works very well. They see a solid object and don't know it's only nylon cloth. I once smacked a German Shepard right on the nose with the tip of a large umbrella and it ran away yelping. Once I had no protection from a pair of airedales on the street and I waved my hands, yelled and got one to jump after my hand, as he jumped I gave him all I had with a kick in the belly. That stopped him cold and then the other was too timid to try anything more. Though they wouldn't let me go, until the owners arrived and pulled them away.

    • @mattesrocket
      @mattesrocket Před 8 lety

      +stephen coleman That's exactly the right ways because kicking or so or holding from behind (the fur is always slippery, you cannot hold tight a dog) never works, or parry, the dogs are ALWAYS much faster, so the way is confusing, never be agressiv but serious and confusing, if possibel with any stuff, you can also make a shocking noise with an object, or throw someting away from you etc. and talk calm or confusing or talk a lot and friendly if its still possibel, they will not turn un-wild but bark only and then go slowly away, looking still a bit in their direction and show peace even if they bark agressively. And there is also a calming gesture for dogs: turn your head a bit to the side and don't look direktly into their eyes, turning the head to the side shows the dog: I will not attac. You can see this when two strange dogs meet sometimes they suddenly seem to look away from each other like weird: that' s a sign "I don't do anything". If a dog is completely mad then nothing helps, maybe making very much noise if you have stuff around you for that but the noise should not come directly from you, or a friend can slap against a metal door or so...

    As an UberEats driver, sometimes my clients ask me to meet them at their door. Oftentimes, they have dogs too. Most of them are friendly. But some of them seem to get frightened easily when they see a stranger. These are smaller dog breeds. The dogs would run up to me energetically. I'm not sure if they're being aggressive or if they just want to play, but simply holding up my foot between myself and the dog was enough to keep me safe and my clients would quickly take control of them.

    Dogs often attack at high speed, often airborne with a long jump, for which there is a simple defense: ~1/3 of a second before contact, step aside and deal with the dog as he passes by. My favorite technique that I practiced on a dog I had trained to do mock attacks, was to bump his chin/neck up as he passed by at chest level. He would then rotate and land on his back. After a few of these, he decided not to do any more long jump mock attacks.

    I used to work in a rough area of Manchester where there were loads of weapon dogs and generally dangerous dogs. The most effective anti dog defense, hands down, was a little gas powered rape alarm squealer thing. (We were all issued with one). It gave off a truly ear piercing squeal. Dogs F**"ing hated it!
    Never use it in an enclosed space but outdoors, where the dog(s) have got an escape route, they leg it EVERY time.
    I needed it a couple of times...never failed.

    My buddy years ago was attacked by a pitbull in a park and as it was running up to him, he quickly took his shirt off and wrapped it around the dogs head and twisted the two ends of the shirt. He put the wad of shirt in one hand and grabbed the dog around his waist with the other. This allowed him to pick him up and put the dog in his car and close the door.
    The cops arrived and called animal control and easily put the stick leash thing they use around his neck and took him to the shelter. I don't know what ever happened with the pit.
    But i asked what made him think to do that. He said he remembered a story on the news awhile back where somebody used his shirt with a dog attack, used his shirt and was able to put the dog back in the yard he escaped from.
    He couldn't believe he remembered that in that scary few seconds.
    It made me think on how we remember things such as a self defense technique. If what we hear, or see makes an impression on us, we remember better.
    My guess is since my friend always had a fear of pitbulls, it made an imprint in his mind of some kind.
    It is interesting though, I've always wanted to understand what makes us remember things like that in the heat of the moment.
    And ever since he told me what happened, i think i will remember that if ever in the same situation. But i hope i never will be.
    Come to think of it, wrapping a shirt around a persons head is often used in street fights. Just never imagined it working with a dog.

    It's a dog. There is no way you can out combat it in a surprise situation. The crescent kicks will only delay the inevitable.
    Now, if you know you're going up against a dog in advance, do this.
    1. Put a pair of shin pads around your left (non dominant) forearm.
    2. Have an easily accessible pointed blade to your right (dominant) hand.
    3. When dog attacks, hold out your left arm and let Fido get a good bite on the pads.
    4. He's now locked and you have all the time in the world to take out the Bowie and run it through his soft neck. Give a small yank on your left arm and it extends the underside nicely.
    Always wear gloves. It can get seriously messy.

      Also do enough of them kicks and a dog will realize that it's hurting itself. Animals have a stronger survival instinct than humans.

I cant even legally buy pepper spray. The self defence law is a joke where i even have to watch what i do if someone attack's me when i'm sleeping in my own fucking bed. And for that reason tactics like this come very useful because i can put a person or a vicious dog down without killing it and landing me in court or even better a nice prison sentance with big billy bob in the same prison cell.

    Dogs are quick. If getting bit is inevitable, take the hit on your weak arm, use your strong arm to grab around the dogs neck, swing the dog up and over and body slam it to the ground as hard as you can all the while it has your weak arm in its mouth. You will feel little or no pain at the time this happens and you must keep your arm jammed in its mouth until it is dead or injured to point of retreat. You must become the alpha in the fight and be very aggressive.

      Trained dog will attack your arm, just put your left arm in front so you now know where dog will try to bite you, as soon dog reach 3-4 foots from you kick it in the left knee.

    • @BlackDawnx187
      @BlackDawnx187 Před 7 lety +1

      I have to agree with almost every comment of yours that I've seen so far. I own a 120lb male rottweiler. I've always been proactively training him, he's only ever allowed to be a guard dog. I get away with a lot of shit with him, because I've trained him to be submissive to me all the time. If he gets hurt, I can apply first aid without getting bitten. On to the point though, I've played tug of war with him, perhaps the best indicator of this dogs raw power. I know how strong, and quick he can be. I managed to get his rope away from him on this occasion and, did a victory celebration by spinning the rope above my head. At the same time, I had to scratch my eye, in the time it took for me to scratch my eye and, reopen it (We're talking milliseconds here, it wasn't an itch). My dog had went from looking at the rope eagerly on all fours, to having the rope clenched in his mouth an starting to pull me to the ground. By no means am I a tall person, or for that matter short. I'm five foot eleven inches, where I'm from that's on the high end of the average height for men my age. So to put that into perspective, my dog could have easily wrapped his teeth around my neck before I could even react.
      If anyone thinks they can strike a dog while it's attacking and, successfully get away they're poorly mistaken. In the video, Master Wong talks about striking and, side stepping. Let me tell you, in the time it takes for you to retract your arm, the dog will have already been struck by you and, have your arm/foot firmly in its grasp. Their reflexes are unmatched by humans. I could go into detail about the countless times I've "dazed" my dog while rough housing, but that would offer nothing to the conversation. As I have him at a disadvantage as he's been trained to be submissive. In the real world, if you daze a dog, he's coming for you 120%. Like +overthehills_faraway previously stated, your best option is to run. You either climb on top of something or, put an obstacle between you and, the dog. Both of which give you an advantage, as the dog generally can't maneuver and, bite at the same time. What you do once you have this advantage is anyone's guess, if you can strike the dog without being harmed I would say go for it (Assuming the dog is less than 100lbs, large dogs have increased bone mass and, striking a Rottweiler will do more damage to yourself than him), but your main goal is to remove yourself from the situation. If animal control is an option, that's probably best, as you can't kick the dog while it's attempting to get to you forever.
      Worse case scenario, the dog's going to bite you. Knowing how to immobilize the dog is the next best thing you can learn. Also, you want to minimize damage the dog is going to inflict upon you. Give him your weaker arm or, calf. Make sure he bites you so that you have him in line of sight. The last thing you want is for him to be biting you from behind. The dog will be at a disadvantage if it has you in its grip, despite the overwhelming pain you'll be in. In order to immobilize the dog, the dog needs to feel you're no longer a threat, which means you can't move or, alarm the dog by screaming. If you can't do that, you're hooped, scream for help or, take others advice. If you can wait for your moment of opportunity, by staying remotely calm enough to get the dog to stop thrashing your arm or leg about, you need to get the upper hand. To some the upper hand means getting the dog in a choke hold (Which will require both arms, and you'll need to immobilize the rest of the dog with your legs. A one arm choke hold will not work in any case.), which is probably your best bet. Otherwise, you have to unfortunately seriously harm the dog, which would involve breaking it's leg or, ribs (Assuming you're strong enough to do so, otherwise eye/nose gouge will suffice). However, I have to warn you, don't grab the dogs genitals, the dog will bite you with everything it has at this point and, you'll surely regret it. Besides, you have a 50/50 chance of the dog being a male, in which case if it's a female you're hooped and, if it's a male you just opened your neck to a death grip.
      This response is in no way a concrete way to survive all dog attacks, it's not based on any real life dog attack encounters. It's merely my opinion, from the perspectives I've been able to evaluate a dog attack situation from. I don't condone violence against animals or, any form of neglect. If you have to do anything I mentioned previously, I suggest you only do it in life or, death situations. I'm sure I've forgotten to account for some situations, however, you can freely comment on my post to enlighten the rest of us. Hopefully, none of us ever have to be in this sort of predicament.

      1 clean shot. otherwise yeh I reckon you gotta stand as the master shows, watch its mouth intently, choose the right time and jump it, sit on it whilst at the same time redirecting its head via two hands embedded around the neck and take its breath away by knees on the body. because just like the jaw locks on and that's it...their attacks rarely end, so there's no letting go. its u or the dog boys n girls.

I, however, am not Bas Rutten and wouldn't want to have to try it. I'd probably just get my leg bitten and torn up! You'd have to be damned good at kicking, and it's not that easy.

    Pretty good advice, Sir. As a former post man, well acquainted with kicking k-nine a^s (about 120 dogs), a simple 40 yard punt kick has nearly always sufficed. It does not matter where the kick lands, they seldom come back for more. If you miss, no worries. They angle to the right or left then circle back. Just keep facing them and keep kicking. If they go high, a good punch has always done well for me. And never, and I mean never, turn your back to them. If you do, and if it is a big dog, the doctors will be putting at least a dozen stitches in the back of your calves.

    Master Wong I have a big problem. I have a powerful enemy. He is NOT subscribed to your channel, thank goodness but he DOES have a dog. It's a very big dog, more like the size of a wolf. Actually it is a wolf. A giant wolf on steroids that is called Ghost. I also have succeeded in killing this enemy, but a red haired lady brought him back to life. Now he and his giant wolf are planning to attack me.
    Will these techniques work on the dire wolf, and what can I do to defend against the wolf and this guy at the same time? The guy also has a sword forged from some magic metal.
    Please help me, Master Wong.

  • @havoc5319
    @havoc5319 Před 4 lety +1

    The first dog my family had when I was a kid was a smaller female German Shepherd. She was really aggressive and one time she snapped at me and was going to bite me when we were playing. She suddenly showed her teeth and was about to lunge. I was quick to figure out from playing with her that all her power was in her mouth and neck, so I reacted quickly by snatching away the hand she was going after, and coming down on her snout with the other hand and forcing her head down to the ground as fast as I could with all my body weight. I quickly jumped her and put my weight on her neck and shoulders, and held her hips down with my knee, and didn't let her move until she calmed down. She really struggled for a while and tried to angle her mouth at my hand. I clamped my knees around her hips to further restrain her so I was in sort of a wrestling hold. I talked to her to get her to calm down, and started stroking her snout. She eventually gave in and calmed down, and only wanted to get away, so I slowly let her go when it was safe to.
    I learned from that experience that most of a dog's power is in their neck snd jaws, using their shoulders for leverage. If you take those muscle groups away they don't really have much left other than trying to scramble and claw to escape with their back legs. The rest of their body doesn't seem to be nearly as powerful. But if you let that jaw clamp down on you and those neck muscles tear and thrash those teeth around while they're dug into you, you are going to have a very bad day. So he's right, don't ever let a dog's mouth get anywhere near you. To put things into perspective, a German shepherd's bite on average has a bite force of 238 PSI. A Rottweiler is 328 PSI, and an American Pitbull Terrier is 235 PSI. Even a Labrador Retriever has a bite force of 230 PSI. An average human bite force is only around 100 PSI. Do anything you can to keep an attacking dog's mouth away from you. Deflect, dodge, distract, whatever you have to do. Even if you have to grab something and shove it in its mouth, which by the way works very well. You can also wrap something around your arm and get it to attack that, like a jacket, hoodie, or a towel.
    If you can get an attacking dog to bite any object laying around that will fit in its mouth, preferably an elongated object, push that object into the back of its mouth and it'll start to gag and do everything it can to get that object out of its mouth, and it'll definitely think twice before trying to bite you again. A broom handle, doubled up belt, shoe, water bottle, thick solid branch or stick, whatever you can grab nearby if you're being attacked. Trust me this works really well. Dogs really hate this because it causes a gag reflex. That German Shepherd I had got really aggressive a second time and tried to bite me while I was playing with her with a bone, so I shoved the bone in her face to distract her from my hands and face, and she grabbed it with her teeth very angrily and started lunging at my face with the bone in her mouth. I pushed on it to keep her away from my face, and something unexpected and totally unintentional happened. Suddenly she started gagging, and the only thing she cared about was getting that out of her mouth and getting the hell away from me. She ran away and started to do that thing cats do when they're trying to cough up a hairball, and was actually scared of me and wouldn't let me get near her for a while. She never did that again after that. Eventually she did calm down around me and started to trust me more.
    I think you should do another video that goes deeper into dog attacks, that includes these two tactics and goes a little bit into dog body language, so viewers can learn about the early warning signs of dog behavior, so they know when a dog is neutral, friendly, anxious, scared, may attack, or worse showing signs of a disease like rabies. That is a very frightening situation to be in, so early warning signs and how to avoid avoid being in a hostile encounter in the first place is the first and most important thing, especially if a dog is diseased. Purina has a webpage called "Understanding Dog Body Language", and rabies symptoms in dogs is easy to find with Google. Maybe you could even interview a vet or a dog shelter volunteer? I would also like to personally know if there are any other diseases, toxins, parasites, or anything else that could make a dog vicious, and what the warning signs are.
    Before anyone accuses me of being abusive, that was NOT the situation. It's not like I was trying to start anything with her, and I would never intentionally try to hurt an animal. Sometimes she was just unpredictable. I took no pleasure at all in having to defend myself against her, I was forced to do it but never took it farther than I had to and my only goal was to get her to calm down or back off if she got too aggressive. What was I supposed to do, let her take off my hand or rip into my face with her teeth? We tried getting help with her but nothing worked. Every dog psychology angle seemed to backfire with her. Dog trainers and behavior specialists didn't help, books were worthless. We really tried but nothing ever worked. 😒
    What made her mean in the first place was when she was very young a huge sheep dog at a park attacked her, and ever since then she would attack any other animal she saw, and she suddenly became very aggressive. So be very cautious about what other animals you expose a young dog too, because just one bad encounter can really psychologically mess them up. We couldn't let her around any other animals or other people, especially children, and kept her in the house or in a fenced-in yard. We also think the original owner we bought her as a puppy from may have been abusive, and they definitely had neglected her because she wasn't in good shape and covered in fleas.
    Trust me when I say she had a loving home, while a lot of other people would have put her down for being mean, but she lived for a long time and we were only forced to put her down when she got so old her body started shutting down and she couldn't even walk anymore, and had no quality of life at all. At that point it was cruel to keep her living, because she was in constant agonizing pain. So yes she lived a long full life with a loving family.

      Best bet , if one locks on your arm, would be to use your other hand and, jam your fingers into their eyes i.e. rip-the dogs eyeballs out. Humans have hands use them to your advantage. Such an attack will hurt a dog, you just have to have the mindset , that it is going to be "icky", you're already going to be injured, so not getting killed , demands such base action.

    Don't get me wrong. I am a dog lover. But a few years back I was alone riding my mountain bike high on a mountain ridge when I came around a corner into a group of Great Pyrenees sheep dogs guarding a herd. These are very big, very aggressive dogs. And they were acting very aggressive towards me. One younger male was particularly aggressive. Luckily there was a rock on the ground of , which I grabbed just in case. When the younger male sunk his teeth in my leg, the rock came down hard on his head. He dropped, the other dogs left, and I rode away.

      I have great respect for these working dogs. These are not pets. They are raised among sheep and have never been allowed to socialize with humans. There job in the high country of Colorado where I live is to protect the free range sheep from mountain lions, bears and coyotes. They weigh well over 100 lbs, and look nothing like the Great Pyrenees photos you see on the internet. Much leaner, muscular and angry. As more people move to the mountains, there are a lot more encounters between recreationists and these high country dogs. Beware when you come across them, these dogs may just rip you to shreds. My point is that a little kick to the side of the head will not save you from their powerful bite.

    • @crazy808ish
      @crazy808ish Před 8 lety

      Of course. He has no reason to randomly make up a story on some video on youtube, and lie about it.
      While they're not pets, they should still be socialized with humans and realize when they are or are not a threat. Without that, they're no better than a plain wolf, except that they won't eat the sheep. But I do agree, that kick isn't a good strategy for any dog over knee high. They'll see it coming and chomp down in a flash. Even trying to kick their throat underneath would be better than this, as a front kick is quicker than... whatever that front/side thing he was demonstrating in the video. It's just an awkward gesture in general.

    • @endoalley680
      @endoalley680 Před 8 lety

      +crazy808ish -The reason they are not socialized is precisely to keep them focused on protecting livestock in a sometimes unfriendly environment. About ten miles from where I was bit a girl on a mountain bike was seriously mauled by one of theses dogs and needed hundreds of stitches, if I remember correctly. She wound up successfully suing the rancher for a lot of money (I million) . I think mountain bikes trigger the anger of these dogs. This style of ranching goes back to when there were relatively few other humans in the high country. But now there are towns full of people popping up everywhere in the west. I probably never should have brought up the encounter. But anybody who has ever ridden up on them will understand. Usually there are two or three of them. They come within 3 or 4 feet of you and bear there teeth and growl fiercely. A mere wolf wouldn't stand a chance against them.

    the beginning of this whole thing is mindset. dog attacks can quickly become emotionally overwhelming because the dog is coming non-stop and you are trying to think about whether you want to do the same.. make your mindset decision now in advance and train to back it up. a dog can be stopped. you don't really want to hurt the dog but you have no choice. stop the dog. save yourself and deal with whatever comes after. survive!!
