- Kryten : I suggest we go from blue alert to red alert, sir.
The Cat : Forget the red. Let's go all the way up to brown alert.
Kryten : But there's no such thing as brown alert, sir.
The Cat : You won't be saying that in a minute. And don't say I didn't alert you.

As someone who would probably have crawled under the bed for days with depression if that had happened to me, i admire your strength and tenacity to take this lightly and continue producing videos. We APPRECIATE you Jingles. Wishing you all the best from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for supporting my favourite not related uncle
Dave didn't ram him, what he actually did was scrape the barnacles off and that was the only thing holding the S-189 together.🤣
That was more real than might be thought, LOL.
Considering the state of maintenance on Soviet subs in the 70's and 80's (Yes K-278 and K-314, I'm looking at you), barnacles might have actually BEEN the only thing holding the hull together...
"The only thing holding her together, are the bird droppings, sir."
@@tspencer227 love that movie LMAO
@@tspencer227I know what you did there😅
The deck gun is classified as a secondary armament, so it would've worked if he pressed "P" to turn it back on.
Haha, exactly!
:-D
Yeah.... why was it off in the first place? Subs have NO AA guns.
@@jaywerner8415 In this game the subs have no fuctional AA guns, the german X tier sub the Type XXI has a double set of of 20mm AA guns that are historically accurate. I suppose if they were usable they would make little to none dmg to the planes in this game. So it does not matter for gameplay anyway.
@@lukaszslowakiewicz9395😂
@@lukaszslowakiewicz9395US fleet subs had at least one 20mm AA gun, even on the old S boats like Salmon. The later Gato and Balao classes added a 40mm Bofors to the mix. Balao also upped the deck gun to a 5"/38.
Brit subs like the T class packed 40mm pompoms.
Welcome to the C-club, Jingles. We're all tough here.
Jingles, I've watched you for 8 years now (if my math is right) and enjoyed every moment. The fact that you didnt crawl in a hole is admirable. Looking foward to many more! Kick cancer's ass!
14 years ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer, I was given a 5% five-year survival chance, and I'm still here.
Best of luck with the whole battle, a positive attitude helps, and don't be afraid to ask for help from friends and family.
Cheers from Tokyo!
5:20 "And the Dutch cruiser captain isn't dumb enough to fall for the same old gag that the Nagato captain did, he isn't getting caught by no torpedoes."
Says Jingles, as said Dutch cruiser takes a torp hit!
To be fair, that was submarine. Their torps are hard to dodge if they're well-aimed.
He meant Dave's torps
Two torp hits
@@Omnomface Those torps were from the Renown '44
A few notes from a Casual Sub enjoyer:
1. Subs can ONLY fire Normal torpedoes on the Surface and Periscope Depth. When they dive deep they can only fire Homing torps.
2. Yes Jingles, that was Submarine Surveillance.
3. No idea WHY he had his Secondaries and AA turned off. Submarines have NO AA guns, and the Deck gun on German and US subs is considered a Secondary weapon (it can shoot and is pretty accurate. Fires SAP shells). On the British Tier 10 the Deck gun is Player controlled, same for the Premium Japanese sub that is in the game.
4. Recently Wargaming made it so Torpedoes need to travel 3kms in order to deal full damage. Any torpedoes that travel less then 2.9kms effectively count as a "overpen" for torpedos.
3. "When a submarine fires its secondary gun (when not in a smoke screen), its sea detectability range increases to the gun range and stays like that (if detected) for 20 seconds even if the submarine dives." - wiki
I never try and test it though
i have one kill with my deck gun on the jap prem sub, on another sub, and i have a ram kill in the same sub from the same game on the other sub (was first when they had just came out, only game i have in sub and sold the sub. was enough for me
yea its supposedly "arming range" which mean subs would be helpless at close range so they made it a damage reduction instead.
9:10 Finally seeing someone actually use the TheRussianBadger captain in one of these videos is simply wonderful.
And the New Mexico in the previous battle using his Red Lobster skin
My favorite Jingles is the bioluminescence of the wake of a ship at night. Just as awe inspiring as the auroras at night
I've read the reason that dolphins chase the ships is because they are using the ships wake to swim easier. So essentially they are hitching a ride from the ship.
True
They may swim in the wake, or ride the bow wave.🐬
@@ELCADAROSA Yup. It's like wake boarding for dolphins. Also I'd very much like to see a video of Jingles on a wake board. in very cold water.
i was thinking that myself its much like how birds use updrafts to not need to flap their wings.
yes that's exactly what the dolphins do with the ships, They use the ships wake to swim without having to use their own energy.
I am glad that you are okay Jingles, and that you have a positive attitude
Can we turn this into a full time series please?
The Brown Alert needs it's own noise, meme.
If only Jingles had recorded his prep for the colonoscopy.
YES! That would certainly be unique, if not original!
The Brown Noise? A flat-sounding foghorn? Womp-womp sound?
The New Mexico using TheRussianBadger's lobster skin. Gotta hope he was running TheRussianBadger commander too
I hope so too. His lines are absolutely hilarious. To the point that he's my voice line
@@lanchester101 I noticed that Dave in the sub had Badger as his commander. Bit odd but he is a funny guy.
"Step up to red alert!"
"Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb."
I understood that reference!
@@TheKazragore That deserves a smoked kipper!!

"going all the way to brown alert!"
"but there's no such thing as brown alert!"
"you won't be saying that in a minute, and don't say i didn't alert you"
Former submariner, and can confirm having dolphin companions going into and out of port. I was always happy to see them.
I've been on fishing boats where the Dolphins would ride on the bow wave like they were surfing.
And one time, we ran across a pod of them that would leap into the air alongside the boat, spinning in the air like footballs. That was really entertaining to watch.
Bro in the sub had badjur captain … I see you there Dave
dolphins actually do it to save energy. if you watch footage of them doing this, riding the bow wave, they hardly move their tail except to do micro adjustments. they're essentially falling sideways and missing the ground. same thing happens with surfers. gravity is pulling them down the hill, but the wave is trying to lift them up, and because the wave is also moving forwards, it pushes them along.
Hearing Jingles laugh is a joy, that we will enjoy for many years to come
damn hearing your voice brings back so many memories from childhood when I would watch your videos while I made model planes and tanks. Wish you the best with your diagnosis you will be in my prayers
Stagger from one disaster to the next. You've just summed up my World of Warships experience as well.
here's me hoping this isn't the Explosive Easter '24 homevideo...
It more a coming home for Jingles, takes him back to his navy days :P
After those ''Sunday Fun Tablets'' I will happily buy you some new trousers Jingles...x
Hi Jingles! Actually I'm from Asturias, and I have to say that your second try at saying it was perfect. Keep on with the show! I really, really like your videos and having you around is one of the little things that made my day. Best wishes from Spain ;)
That new Mexico was using Therussianbadgers skin 😂
and is the sub using therussianbadger captain?
@@DD-mp1kl Yes he is 🦭
"He's not getting caught by no torpedo" Jingles slyly says as a torpedo hits him in the bow.
Really now, Jingles?
Your videos have been always the great start of my days Jingles! They especially become better when you pull a Jingles and talk about Venezia’s hydro
We went out on a boat for a scuba diving trip when I was a lot younger living in Guam. I clearly remember seeing the dolphins swimming in front of the bow, just under it and jumping around all over the sides. Its beautiful.
Thoughts are with ya chief. never give up, never surrender.
Fun fact, I'm from Asturias, Spain and you pronounced it correctly.
Good job Jingles 🤣
10:06 Oh I'm gonna love this!
You know actually Jingles the Dolphins are riding pressure wave created by the passage of the boat through the water. In essence they are surfing the bow wave of the ship.
Sending you well wishes Jingles, appreciate all your content. I never get that lucky when im in similar situations. usually they detonate me when I try the same stunt
@5:30 - “he’s not getting caught by no torpedoes” , as torpedos slam into the ship 😂 Don’t ever change jingles we love you
We've had a circus like show at 4am off our bow with dolphins, about 75 miles off the coast of Florida. They did flying jumps and all the fancy stuff...pretty cool to watch from the helm.
gotta love the humor of the title. love to you jingles
Love ya, Jingles. Wishing you the best, always.
That was very interesting.. TY Jingles. We love you
I love the love tap of death at the end. World of Warships never change.
A man who appreciates Red Dwarf is a bloody good bloke in my books🥃🥃
I rarely catch your Mingles with Jingles episodes. Oddly enough it dropped the day I had my Prostectomy surgery for Prostate Cancer. We are only a year apart so stay positive brother, you will get through this. No matter what, do not let the darkness in.
That one submarine that successfully hit another was a U-Boat.
U-4 encountered HMS Thistle in the North Sea off the coast of Norway in April 1940.
The HMS Thistle spotted the U boat and attempted to sink her with torpedoes but missed.
U4 was able to get away, later detecting and firing on HMS Thistle and sinking her with all hands lost.
The only reason i know this myself is that my wives great grandfather was onboard the Thistle when she was lost. His son (My wifes grandfather) wasnt allowed to join the Navy for his service by his mum so he joined the RAF.
I loved hearing his stories from his time in the RAF. A great man who we all still miss.
I didnt expect that reminder in a Jingles video but I'm all the happier for it.
Hey Jingles. I’m so glad that you are staying positive after the diagnostic. I’m 24 and have spent 1/5 of my life watching your videos. I hope I can keep that percentage growing forever ❤
Jingles, the dolphins are riding an underwater wave the front of the ships create. They are thrill seekers trying to go as fast as possible without even using their tail fin!
🤘😎🤘
“Flood caused by his torpedoes” *looks up, no flooding ribbons* never change Jingles
Damn man. I haven't watched a Mingles with Jingles in a while. I'm sorry to hear that though. You have a proper decent lot of people that like and support you in everything you do though so don't lose hope! We all love you Jingles ❤
Thank you Jingles, praying for you 🙏
For those who dont know subs.
1. Submarine surveillance on subs and now certain surface ships will detect submerged subs within range. Not if they are surfaced.
2. The plane spotting warning is for fighters, spotters, or CV aircraft overhead which can detect submerged subs except at the deeper level.
3. Subs can only launch homing torpedoes when at depth. The non-homing trops can only be launched at the surface or periscope depth.
4. Torpedos stop homing when the ping is cleared or after they reach a certain distance away from the pinged target, which varies between ship classss. Which is why BBs with a ping on the bow can often dodge the torps with a well timed break and turn.
5. The submarine deck guns are secondaries with the exception of the I-56 which gives player control (imo as it should be). He has his off. Although i remember reading something a while back about the removal of working deck guns on most subs but that could have just been a testing thing. Idk.
6. Whenever he pings there is an indicator on the surface at his position so surface ships can see where he is getting pinged from. So the Edinburgh knows he was close to the position he was last pinged from, he just didn't correctly guess the Dave's bearing.
WG has changed the ping marker in the game to be more where the sub actually is, earlier it was not exactly where the sub was so if you droped airstrikes on the spot you would miss.
In WW2 the Germans removed the deck guns from their subs because the situation changed and they had no use for them. Early in the war (and WW1) subs could surface stop a merchant ship check it's papers and cargo manifests. If it was a netural ship not carrying war supplies it was let go, if it was a enemy registered ship or was carrying war supplies to the enemy, the crew were allowed to leave on life boats and the ship was sunk, often with the deck gun.
There was one incident in WW2 where a U-boat surfaced off Aruba and tried to shell the oil refinery on the island. But they forgot to take the plug out of the barrel and split the end of the gun barrel. They spent the next day cutting off the damaged part of the barrel with hacksaws. They went back the next night but were shot at as soon as they surfaced.
In WW2 the US kept the deck gun on their subs. Late in the war there was at least one sub that was equiped with two 5" guns and a fire control system. That was done because late in the war there were very few ships worth a torpedo and the sub would just surface and sink the ship, often fishing boats, with the deck gun/s.
They also fired at shore targets on ocasion.
The USS Nautilus and USS Narwhal had two 6" guns and may have used them on some the island raids they were involved in. (Makin Island raid?) They were much larger than the other US subs and did not do the standard war patrols as their size made them too slow to dive and to easy to pick up with sonar.
After the war the USN took the guns off the subs and streamlined them to be faster underwater, and more quiet. The Balao sub in the game has the 'GUPPY' conversion. During the war the subs had as much of the conning tower removed to make the subs harder to see. You can see the difference between early pre war boats and later war build subs.
Too bad WG made such a mess of subs in the game. They keep trying to fix a flawed premise. It is hard to keep up with the changes WG keeps making trying to make things 'balanced'.
@@frosty3693 I meant in game. I am very aware of why deck guns were removed from subs irl. There was a dev blog at some point, I believe, that said deck guns would become ornamental instead of functioning secondaries. I guess the context wasn't as strong as I thought.
Fun in the middle of the week, perfect!
Oh I love you Jingles. You're the voice I look forward to hearing
I like this new idea. The Brown Pants videoes are definitely worth the watch. And seems to be an infinite resource for videos. Maybe a mix with the ole That's a Paddlin'. LOL
I do like this ship! Tnx for the video. Hope you are well M.Jingels. 😊😇
Dolphins ride or surf on the bow wave. Orkas too. Ty for the vid and all the best to you.
Jingles, you can see a magnificent scene of Cousteau's Le Monde du Silence movie where dolphins run along the Calypso for a while. It's glorious, there were dozens of them !!!
HELL YEAH! I am so glad that you keep a straight back facing the horror that is cancer🙌
Dave: "Get me closer, I want to hit them with my saber!"
*and this actually works*
There was the French Surcouf. A submarine with a pair of 8 inch cruiser guns.
Glad to hear it's not too serious! Take care Jingles, the newbs still need more training in basic seamanship.
Also very glad to hear that Jingles.
what? play subs in order to figure out how to fight them? woah. radical idea there Jingles.
You're alright in my book, Jingles.
I didn't even know you can clear submarine pings with the damage control...
Hearing your laugh makes me crack up also.
All the best you old dog!❤️
I also heard something about Dolphins enjoy riding the underwater wakes and pressure waves that ships create, it's like our surfing.
Great Video!!!
Jingles - hope you are going ok and coping ok, needless to say we all wish you all the very best.
Dolphins and Orcas LOVE to ride the Wake of the ship, and it´s believed they do it for fun.
Because they sometimes go back and forth on a route for seemingly no real reason.
But maybe people also throw them food overboard or in the Harbor they sail to.
17:40 The Salmon actually can use its deck gun. It's classed as a secondary gun. Dave just has it turned off for some reason XD
7:50 Just bookmarking here to come back when I need to hear "Jungles bursting with laughter" again. 😂
Surprised "Dave" didn't use the dumb torps.
The USS Batfish sunk three Japanese subs in less than 72 hours.
There may have been some confusion on that by Jingles. Subs on the surface were sunk by other subs. But maybe only one, published, incidence of a submerged sub torpedoing another submerged sub. It was of course a RN sub so naturally it is referenced often.
@@frosty3693 yeah that's the stat quoted. only one recorded underwater kill in sub on sub fight was by a RN sub. it was HMS Venturer vs U-864 a battle that took place underwater resulting in the sinking of the german submarine.
Batfish sank two. I posted a list earlier on here.
Great episode
It’s like skateboarding for them, they ride the wake and play.
Submarines did sink each other numerous times, much more during the Great War. But only once during WW2 did a submarine that was underwater sink another that was also underwater.
Captain sees enemy force through binoculars.
"Yeoman, Bring me my brown trousers."
Wishing ya well big man jingles
Thanks!
Actually Jingles, (I always wanted to do that) there was only one underwater sub v sub battle in WW2. That was when HMS Venturer sank U-862 with both boats submerged.
HMS Upholder and USS Batfish (SS-310) both sank three enemy subs but did so on the surface. Batfish did it in a 72 hour window.
Was pretty cool to see😊
Don’t mind me, I’m just engaging with the content to help with the morgage ;)
Jingles: Renown got the broadside on the Scharnhorst
Kongo: Despite I am somewhat British but I’m not Renown, Jingles.
My best wishes for the future Jingles
Jingles, the Batfish received the Presidential Unit Citation for her sixth war patrol during which she sank three Japanese submarines in the South China Sea in four days.
but i believe they were all killed on the surface. only one recorded kill in an underwater sub on sub battle.
See, the doctor is also secretly Jingles. It's not cancer. It's a papercut. A T7 papercut of the Soviet line kind of papercut.
Semper Fortis, Admiral! ❤
....both videos featuring RussianBadger content. The skin for the New Mexico, and the captain voice pack. Love it.
Cancer sucks mate, I've been there. It's going to be 7 years in remission for me in July. I know you can beat it, we're all pulling for you 😊
Musta missed your post re the Big C. Chin up mate and stay strong. I am just waiting on treatment for my fourth diagnosis in 10 years and still alive and kicking. Sending many positive thoughts your way to a fellow matelot.
There were actually 25 Japanese submarines sunk by American submarine steering World War III, but all of these sinking occurred while the submarines were on the surface transiting.
I had a brown alert moment once I was in my Richelieu and was being talked to by my grandma when I looked back at the game I was being attacked by the whole enemy team of destroyers. Glad I had the engine boost all those torpedoes in the water was scary
Good morning Gnome Overlord. I was going to make a brown alert joke, but you beat me to it.
That was a nice ram!
Hi Jingles, Rita, Hjusie and Akizuki, I hope today is treating you well. Please give treats and scritches freely.
There's no shortage of cranial flatulence in today's battles. It's not like "stupid" is in short supply, so that's not surprising.

I have to admit that Daves charades were pretty funny.
Hope you get well soon

The most realistic thing in WoWs: Dolphins
LOL!
I wish I had the money to donate, but at the very least I hope your recovery goes well
18:42 Dave took 50 damage to the S-189's 77.
I am pretty sure the hydroplanes on the subs are borked. They count as a colission model but don't have any health, so when dave scraped his down the side of the S-189 it did 'maximum damage' to daves salmon, which was 0hp, and maximum damage to the hull of the S-189, which was 77hp.
