      And humans need to drastically reduce the consumption of plastic by not buying huge bottles of liquid detergent, there are laundry sheets now. And the cases of water, juice or other drinks in smaller bottles to make peeps lives easier, I guess that's why they buy them, that needs to end now. Stop making them. They're filled with tap water!

      And you don’t care how much pollution it produces to pick up comparatively minuscule amounts. Got it.

    • @ivanlagrossemoule
      @ivanlagrossemoule Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@keithb6717 To be fair, even if all plastic is stopped from being dumped in the oceans, cleaning at least the biggest bits would still be beneficial. But even if they clean up 10 tons per day with 2 ships (here it's a big haul, but they also spend time in port and so on), you'd need a fleet of 5000 ships to offset the plastic dumped in the oceans. Assuming they're all really this successful all the time.
      That being said, while it's a huge number, the amount of boats used for fishing and depleting our oceans is counted in the millions. So it adds pollution, but when you scale up other issues, it's not that terrible either. Still I agree that this isn't much at all and is done with a lot of drawbacks.

      Anyone in favor of this charade has never been to sea. It’s idiotic virtue Signaling.

      @@keithb6717 That's an interesting concern, however I can reassure you that the average ship does not use more than 18 tons of fuel in such a short period of time. And the carbon footprint is pretty well offset by the recycling of tons of plastic, as each piece of plastic recycled prevents new plastics from having to be produced. Thus the project is actually, I believe, carbon negative. Especially when you factor in the Interceptors, which accomplish the same goal while using no fuel at all.

      Did you know they are also decimating a segment of the ocean life. Look up nudibranchs. This isn’t something the marine biologists are thrilled about. It has affected wildlife and negative and positive ways so it’s complicated.

      @@egondro9157so would you rather leave the trash in the ocean? With everything in this world, nothing is perfect and something/someone will always lose. But if the percentages are on the positive side. I do believe there removal of something that doesn’t biodegrade for 100/1000s of years is more of win than a loss. Don’t concentrate on the 1 negative thing, always look at the bigger picture. Not trying to start an argument or be negative. ✌🏽

    this is great...question; when does the math workout to you extracting more plastic from the ocean, than plastic going in?

    The clean up and sorting process afterwards is nearly a impressive as the catch itself! Powerful stuff!

    Amazing! System 03 is clearly an excellent design. Congratulations! And thank you for doing this much needed work and for posting this video. The Great Waves of Change are here, and we all need to be doing so much more to restore the planet. It is encouraging to see the progress you've made in such a short time. There's hope yet!

    You are a dedicated and amazing group of people! Please, every time you give details of your success, could you mention that the production of so much plastic created this problem and we need to address it at the source if we are to be truly successful. Thank you for all you do! Hopefully with combined efforts of less production of plastic packaging and your marvellous project, the oceans will be clean and full of life again. ❤
