@@loribrogdon7759 I don't think Caleb has a real shot at winning the Heisman only because he didn't really play in the first 5 games. I do think this team is capable of winning a playoff game and possibly the title. I think we saw what this team could be in the second half of the Texas game when both sides were playing so well. If we can play that way the rest of the year I think we'll definitely win a playoff game and depending on who we would face in the title game, I think we could win that too.

There is one play that OU had a 3rd and 1 on Texas's like 32 or so. Caleb pulled the ball on a play action went to the right and kept trying to get outside. He was eventually forced to spin back inside to barely get the first down, but I wish he would have just gone north and south to get it. The way Caleb gives himself more time by stepping up in the pocket and shuffling on so many plays is so good. That's something you don't see Rattler do. Really impressed with how the O-Line did this week. Looked like people were more confident and finding their blocks. Did you notice that our defense did a lot better when we rushed guys at Thompson? He didn't have time to throw, but as soon as we got that 7 point lead... we stopped. Allowed Worthy the time to get deep and beat our guys like they were doing earlier in the game. I think pressure on the QB is so important with our younger guys in our secondary.

It is 110% Caleb's team. If Lincoln plays Rattler it will be the dumbest move of his career. You do what is best for the team and its what they want. Their body language shows they believe in Williams more than Rattler. Rattler in his 3rd year on campus had a QBR of 11.3 vs Texas... Caleb Williams hasnt played in a meaningful game since his junior year in highschool since his senior year got cancelled due to Covid and he had a QBR of 98.1 vs Texas after entering the game down by 21 pts. He led us back from down 21pts to our biggest rival in front of 100,000 people. He sent shockwaves through the stadium the second he stepped on the field. The fans want Williams, the team wants Williams, and the results say go with Williams. If you wanted to stick it out with Rattler you leave him in to complete the come back himself, the second Williams became the guy to lead us back from down 21 pts to Texas, he instantly became the leader of this football team. There is no debate. Caleb Williams is better at playing football than Spencer Rattler. Rattler is good, Williams is great. We move as a unit. Rattler was unhappy seeing Williams succeed, that's not the guy you want at the helm. The team reflects their QB attitude, if he is selfish then they will play as 11 talented individuals instead of a team. When Williams plays they become a team that moves as one. Remove the names on the back of the jersey and turn on the tape with the tv on mute. It will tell you all you need to know.

If Mr Rattler learns from this experience and realized that's what it is, a learning experience, he will be that more prepared in the future. Jalen Hurts...omg, that man lost his starting job, leaned from it and boom!!! Look at him now!!!! What the crowd or media or anyone else doesn't matter, what matters is turning a negative into a positive.

On the ABC broadcast Herbstreit said that the interception Rattler threw was a mistake on Stogner's part. Clearly, one of them had the wrong play. I thought Riley said, in the post game press conference, that Stogner ran the wrong route. But, if it was Rattler then that is clearly a problem. I've been 100% supportive of Spencer from game one up until the moment he fumbled. He didn't look comfortable from the start of the game but seemed settled in enough to be somewhat effective...until the fumble. That was the first time I felt like he needed to be benched, but I was a bit surprised Riley made that call. I guess I shouldn't have been, given what happened last year.
Anyway, the team CLEARLY perked up when Caleb came into the game (and it even felt like the defense played with more intensity). I don't envy Riley's position right now, but I just don't see how he can sit Caleb after that performance.

  • @cryhwks

Rattler is already making a lot of mistakes. But Caleb gave OU big explosive plays that OU have been lacking. He adds a different dynamic that other teams have to prepare for. He trusts his guy's to make the play one on one.
I wish Rattler would have worked out. But Caleb is the guy.
And the biggest thing OU gets Caleb starting games for basically 3 seasons.

Humble pie washed down with humility has cured many of mental blocks.

I dont think it was just that 1 int or fumble from Rattler that got him benched, but more of a build up towards this. Rattler is fortunate thus far to not have 4-6 more interceptions than he has now. Once Williams came in, the running game clicked, and that opened up some of the passing game. Aside from the turnovers, and the lack of leadership displayed by Spencer, the offense just wasn't moving down the field like it needed to. I think the fact that Caleb is a true duel-threat makes our offense more dynamic, especially running the ball. The defenses can't quite key in on what we're about to do.
