    Hi Stuart, couple of days back washed my bike and polished and sprayed it the exact same way you explained in the video. When I took the bike out yesterday got stuck in bad rain and the bike got dirty but after reaching home all I had to do was to run it down with some water and that's all I had to do.. No scrubbing or shampoo needed to get rid of the dirt. I just want to thank you for this guide and making our life so easy.

    I'm waiting for delivery of my 2019 Triumph Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition here in New Orleans. So very different from the 1978 Bonnie I rode during law school. Not that I miss Amal carbs and ticklers.
    Your excellent video will come in handy here. We're a semi-tropical climate, with high humidity, buckets of rain, and long hot summers. I've filed this video away for future use. Great tips on the products and the application process. Thanks Stuart!

    Hi Stuart. At 48 i didn't think i had much to learn about detailing bikes but watched your vid and yes i do. I was due some new polish and had no idea what ro go for. I chose the simoniz liquid wax and the 85 aswell. My 120 black was nice already but it is nicer now and thats not just me imagining it. Black paint is a pig to shine up. Thank you.

    Great video Stuart! I actually really liked the longer format...gave me enough time to eat my bowl of cereal and have a cup of coffee before it was all done.
    I have just a month or so ago bought a 1999 Triumph Legend TT that is in really very good shape and the body work is quite good. It does need some attention to cleaning however and your video is a great addition to all the "how to wash your bike" videos out there. You video really does fill a gap!

    Great video, very informative! I learned something about paint technology today. I'm glad you mentioned not applying petroleum-based products accidentally on your brakes/tires. I'd like to add that many car washes have wax in them and should also be avoided because the wax residue will remain on the tires as well.

    I've been using the muck off miracle shine and it's great stuff. I can recommend this to anyone interested in trying it, it's a large tin, you get plenty, it smells nice of you're into that and it really brings the bike up to showroom standards.

    Your best video yet. Always great to learn from someone who has real world experience. I've certainly learnt something about paint today. I paused the video when you were discussing the Simoniz wax so I could order some, only to find the Muc Off one is perhaps slightly better 😱. That will teach me for not waiting until the end 😉👍🏻. Also interesting to here your thoughts on Muc-Off, I just assumed it was bit of a con, so that's something else I've learnt today.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety +1

      Nice to hear from you Dervman glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. To be honest all polishes are con in one way or another but some are better than others, The muc off might not be the best on the market but it is the best ive tested so far! and ive tested a few!
      It does a good job,
      Its in the right price range,
      and its economical.
      Its good enough until I discover something better!

    Mr. Fillingham, I can think of no higher praise than to say that the ‘Full Fillingham’ has made all the difference to how my bike looks , as well as to how easily it sheds muc(k).
    On which subject , I’ve started using muc off bike cleaner concentrate and miracle shine wax, and they’re excellent products , long - lasting and labour saving.
    I’ve also started ( after you recommended it )air drying my bike after a wash, and it certainly goes a long way in getting it properly dry, especially behind badges and in those infuriating little crevices in the swing arm.
    And lastly, and not apropos to this video, but yes, Sir, I do know where Yorkshire is , thanks to reading the vet James Herriot as a kid.
    More power to you, Sir, and please keep them coming.

    Cracking video , I've had my Bonneville 865 for almost ten years and if we keep on top of it they can look as good as the day we rolled it out of the showroom ! Incidentally , couldn't help noticing your right hand gaiter may need rotating a tad to locate the vent holes to the rear which may help reduce the ingress of moisture and road grit and grime .

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety

      Hi Kris. it may be still matt underneath the wax, try removing it with a proprietary tar remover for paint work see if it matts up again. like I said they do satinise with time any way, the matt detailer is probably the way to go, but as I said ive not tried it yet!

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety +1

      Don't worry its not permanent on the engine and it will matt up again as it burns off, I'm not sure if the matt detailer would be suitable on your engine Piero so be careful.

Recently I washed and waxed my Thruxton EFI 900 in the way you explain in your videos and the result was amazing. I have one question for you. The chromes in my wheels and the alloy cases in the engine don’t shine as much as yours. Actually they look a bit shady. I was checking out the muc-off metal polish but I’m not sure is the right product for bringing back the shine to those parts. Any further recommendation?

    Hi Stuart,
    A note on maintenance and protection.
    I just finished a 4500 Km tour in the north of Spain on my 4 month old T120 black
    I had about a week of heavy rain over there and no good chelter to dry down everything after each ride. Actualy the new bike was left in the rain for that 7 day period.
    When comming home and starting to clean the bike I noticed quiet an amount of heavy oxidation on a lot of bolds and even a big amount of rust on the disc brakes (not the brake surface).
    To see my brand new bike in this condition after just 4 months makes my heart break.
    I used MO-94 before leaving home, gues it did'nt last for a week
    I supose some parts of the bike aren't realy made for touring, just for a nice sunny sunday afternoon

    Great Video. I'd be interested in how you clean and protect those chrome spokes? When I first picked up my used TU250X I thought the spokes were galvanised they were that dirty. I still haven't really got them clean of chain throw off and road grime. Also for tyre sidewalls, plastics and rubber I use 303 Aerospace Protectant as it is Matt Finish and not slippery/sticky like Armour All. For some reason it is also the best dead bug remover I have found.

    Also, I have spotted some triumph panniers on eBay, 1/2 price, £230 but it says for t100 air cooled, wondering if they would still fit the 2017 t120

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Victor, Thank you! GT85 should be the perfect dressing for the powder coated pipes! just soak a workshop wipe in the stuff and apply it all over them, working it well in to the textured finish. while the bike is cold!
      the header pipes are double skinned so they wont get as hot as conventional pipes, this means the dressing should last longer. I would use it on the entire exhaust system, it will return them to their original dark colour, stop them going grey and make them much easier to clean.
      Regarding the panniers, I'm not sure sir but I would suspect they will not fit the old t100 is very different from the new T120.
      please let me know how you get on with the GT85!

    Wow most useful video I have seen regarding bike care. Thanks for your efforts. Im expecting my jet black T100 in a week's time, before that I would like to buy the cleaning products you mentioned, however I could not find an importer for GT85 where I live. Could you please suggest an alternative product. I get WD-40 PTFE spray. Can it serve the same purpose as GT85 as water and dirt repellent. Please suggest.

    In light of advances of products and alterations of formulas such as Muc Off changing there MO94 to a biodegradable version.
    Have you changed any of your preventative formula choices?
    With the rise in dry PTFE sprays, would you a use dry ptfe spray's?
    With the move by Muc Off to change there MO94 to a full biodegrable version would you discount the Muc Off and stick with the GT85?
    Appreciate all the content you produce keep up the great work.
    Do you also still use the wax oil spray for swing arm and rear fender?
    Seams to have down sized to 400ml and now labelled hammerite wax/oil.

    Hi Stuart - how do you treat the exhaust headers and silencers? Is it 'safe' to wax them, or should I use something else? Looks like you waxed the silencers at least, but I would have thought the heat could have caused an issue. The headers are even hotter, so what would you do to maintain those? My dad swore by Autosol (German metal polish) which creates a pretty good 'seal'. Cheers.

    I used the miracle shine on my triumph bobber 2017 exhaust, but I think its stainless steel, is that OK to use IT on that to.

    I’ve used GT85 for years on bicycle chains...... but I would think this oil residue on engine would be a dirt magnate on engine and especially small parts one cannot wipe off. But I will give it a try. Thanks

    Dear Stuart, what do you think of protection film applied to motorcycle tank and other parts? Would you still need to apply wax?

    Hi Stuart, an excellent video I must say, thank you for posting it. learnt quite a few things that I didn't know. I have a chrome tank on my RE 650 Interceptor with a black painted stripe up centre. Would you still recommend the Muc-Off product for waxing? I see you used it on the chrome of your bike so I guess so.

      Hi Martin congrats on owning a lovely bike! yes a gentle carnauba wax (non abrasive) it the best protection you can give a chrome/painted tank!

    Stuart, thanks for your informative vids which I've been watching since buying a new T120. Advice please? There is a very slight dent/ripple in the fuel tank and I have no idea how it got there. The paint shows no damage and there is no crease in the metal. It's hard to spot but I'd still like to fix it, is there a remedy you can recommend?

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 6 lety

      Hi Andy, sorry for not spotting this comment earlier! Google paintless dent removal services for your area. you may be able to find someone that can help, depending on where exactly the dent is. Avoid chips away franchises as they are rarely properly trained. hope this helps.

  • @galoadriangoigserrano7238

    Have to say I pre-ordered a T120 black (with black exhausts and everything) but since I saw your motorcycle I am seriously considering changing to classic jet black with chrome exhausts. This is a very difficult decision!

    Hi Stuart, another great vid. I have just got myself a 2013 Kawasaki w800, with plenty of chrome so ive been rewatching a few of your cleaning and maintaining vids. Just one question. This is an old video but im sure it still applies. I have gt85 for my bicycle fortunately, after spraying the chrome and drying it off, do i still apply the muc off miracle shine, as that already has the ptfe is that basically giving the chrome 2 coats ?

    Hi Stuart, very useful information indeed. For your viewers that live outside of the UK, it can be challenging to find the right products to get the job done, it is great that you explain what are the main components and what are their uses, so I can look for them on the brands available on my country. I see a lot of "Turtle wax" products where I live, it is such a widely available brand and so ubiquitous that I have the prejudice that is a crap product, do you have an opinion on this particular brand? By the way I have a T120 black with a beautiful black mate finish, but sadly I don't leave so near your area to help you with your video. Cheers!

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety

      Yes sir Matt paint has always been tricky! Muc off have just brought out a matt finish detailer especially for the job. ive not had the opportunity to test it as yet but I reckon it is probably your best bet! I did mention it near the end of the video if you would like to take another look!
      Other wise any none abrasive carnauba based wax should be ok, just don't use it too often, only when the water stops beading up on your paint. it will satinise the finish slightly, but that will happen over time anyway!

    Nice video that. I’ve been cleaning my cars and bikes for a long time now but it’s always interesting to see someone else’s method. (I’ve always been a bit slack tbh) I’m taking your info on board however and although I’ve been a long time user of muckoff I wasn’t aware of the miracle wax so have ordered some and shall use you system on he next wash of the gloss one. Still not entirely sure what I should be doing with the Matt one (GRISO) So far I’ve only washed it with dedicated car shampoo after a spray with muckoff.

    Thanks for the great videos Stu. I have all my Muc-Off products and had a good first swipe of detailing, cleaning and oiling the chain! The imitation pleather bags are a bit tough to clean. Also, any tips on scuff remover? My tank has fallen victim.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey Steve, if its only a light scuff i would recomend auto glym super resin polish (the one with the red label) it has a slight cut and will remove minor scratched and scuffs, but be careful, use circular motions in the area of the scuff with medium pressure. do not use this polish regularly, it will eventually remove your clearcoat!

    Hi Stuart, I have just put an order in for T120 Black, your videos helped tremendously in my decision process. Having watched this and your 'Full Fillingham ' video I have one question. On the Black exhausts would you use the wax the same way as on the chrome exhausts or would you lean towards the matt detailer? I believe it's a ceramic coating so not a true Matt Paint but any knowledge or touts would be appreciated.

    Excellent video Stuart. Always good to get some decent trade experience and information. I would like to see you do a cleaning video, there are a lot out there but I've not seen their end results as good as yours. I ride all year round so keeping the bike pristine is always a challenge but something I try to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your next video.

      ah nightmare, I have done the same myself sir with microfiber cloths! best way is to very carefully pair away the melted plastic with a very sharp blade, even plastic pan scrubbers tend to scratch, i feel your pain!

    Hi Stuart, i've rewatched your cleaning videos as they came up in recomended after your Flowgenics vid. Have you or would you consider a video on how to restore a hazy or slightly scratched tank/ panel or bike? ta

    • @stuartfillingham

      Good question David, mainly because the tank generally doesn't get as dirty as the rest of the bike so I prefer to use a more gentle cleaner on it to preserve the layers of wax.
