    Yeah Bricky is definitely aware of the Alpharius being found first. In an episode of his 40k podcast, Adeptus Ridiculous, he did an episode about the commonly told story of Alpharius, then said "and all of that was a lie" and then rolled the outro music. Then resumed telling the actual lore after the cohost lost it going "No! We can't end it there!"

    Speaking of AOT weapons, it gets better... so in one of the novels (I forget which one) there is this gun. It works just like a normal gun, as in you point it at your target, pull the trigger and your problem is solved. The trick here is... once you pull that trigger, you can no longer remember who or what your target was. Because the projectile erases the target from existence, retroactively. You remember aiming it at someone, pulling the trigger and that someone died, but you cannot remember anything about them at all, even if they were your twin brother (which you now never had). Understandably at the end of the novel the Emperor threw it into the deepest, darkest hole he could find.

      That's actually funny, in the early 00's I played an RPG from the 90's called Legend of the Five Rings (a D&D RPG based on the book by Miyamoto Musashi)...and one of the final skills of my marksman character (Skill: Kyujutsu) was that I magically spoke the name of my "Nemesis" into the arrow and it would basically always exploding crit and kill, but I would have to forget my enemy benefit against that type and choose a new one...I think there were 8-10 different types in the hybrid of L5R and D&D we played...so I only technically had one shot of each type before the skill would become unusable...thankfully the campaign ended before then...lol...I think it was a limiting idea for my character, but just erasing someone from the timeline, that is horrifying...

    This (practically) happened . I am paraphrasing but its pretty accurate .
    Perturabo : Horus , i come back . Got backstabbed from Fulgrim and i think my soul is leeking .
    Horus : Oh , no . what happened next ?
    Perturabo : Well , i obviously pumelled him so hard he needed divine intervension to run away . Anyway , how is the war going ? What are our forces ?
    Herus : Well , had to put Lorgar on house arest for trying (and failing) to take over the herec... the rebelion .
    Angron , is fighting anything in front of him and had fucked off .
    Fulgrim come back and is doing the same , ,( just laterally fucked a lot )
    Mortarion is brooding , and Alfarius is doing Alfarius things .
    Oh , Mangus said he was busy , something about a board game with . . . . the enemy .
    Did i mention we have little time before the remaining loyalist armies come to terra to turn us a new one ?
    So , yeah . You and me are basically the only braincells . and as the figurehead i cant get my shoes dirty , could you ... fix this ?
    Perturabo : I dont know , terra is the most well defended planet on the imperiu..
    Horus : i guess , Dorn did a good job
    PETER TURBO : 😠

    In addition to all of the soul stuff messing up the warp during the war in heaven there is also some lore that indicate the necrons might have accidently broken the universe a bit during this war. So that didn't help things either.

  • @Pylo-ry6ff
    @Pylo-ry6ff Před 6 měsíci +16

    Yeah, the question of how the Dark Age of technology humans dominated the Galaxy at the same time the Eldar did is somewhat weird. I have seen a couple of fanfics address it by saying that by the time Humanity got out into the Galaxy the Eldar were already far enough down the slippery slope that they weren't really paying much attention to the wider galaxy, and the ones that did were still really aloof. So, as long as nothing bothered their worlds they just didn't care. The one fanfic had an early Tyranid fleet eat half a spiral arm before Humanity found out about it and eventually killed it. The Eldar knew it was there almost from the begining but didn't even bother warning anyone because it wasn't going to eat their worlds so who cared?

    • @kertas1991111
      @kertas1991111 Před 6 měsíci +6

      I mean all in all humanity is not realy spread everywhere. the worlds worth anything are determined by what is easy to reach via warp, strategic location and if the planet is even remotely habitabile.
      even if they had a billion worlda its not all that significant on a galactic scale realy, and with the eldar having the webway and post scarcity tech location would not matter what so ever.
      in other words both could have millions and millions of inhabitabile planets at the same time and not get within lightyears of each other and with seperate modes of transportation not realy run into each other much either.

    • @Karelwolfpup
      @Karelwolfpup Před 6 měsíci +6

      have seen theories that although the Eldar were the most numerous race, they were mostly in the core of the Eldar Empire or in the Webway. So aside from young buck Eldar, the occassional Exodite on a paradise world or the odd proto-Drukhari, humans would have had to go a long ass way to meet the Eldar, who likely would have just fucked off into the Webway rather than deal with us.

    • @Pylo-ry6ff
      @Pylo-ry6ff Před 6 měsíci +4

      @kertas1991111 Yeah, that is pretty close to how those fanfics I meantioned played it. The craftworlds were what most humans thought of when they thought of eldar. The depravity that was the coreworlders towards the end wasn't widely known because they had no interaction.

  • @Pylo-ry6ff
    @Pylo-ry6ff Před 6 měsíci +12

    Oh, another tidbit. It is barely even hinted at in cannon but there is an idea floating around that there are beings older than the Chaos gods in the warp. Beings that lived in the warp before life arose in RealSpace. These beings have no connection to mortal lives like most warp things do and then see chaos and all of the other warp things spawned by the war in heaven as pollution from a realm that is as incomprehensible to them as the warp is to mortals. Again, this is more of a fan theory than anything actually written but I always thought it was really cool.

    1:00:00 So i actually paint my blood angels with white armor, and I've found so far the easiest way to do it is to airbrush (or use a spray can) in thin layers black > dark grey > grey > light grey then you can either do a layer of pure white and highlight with light blue, or just leave it at light grey and highlight with pure white, then apply a layer of gloss varnish so your wash flows better and so you can fix any mistake you make later without having to redo the white. considering that I'm pretty new to painting models, it looks great for how little effort it takes, and its criminally easy to batch paint a whole squad or even a whole army that way.

    regarding the whole 'soul" stuff witht eh necrons, I once stumbled upon a writer who had an interesting idea in a fan story of his. Basically the Warp is not the "final" afterlife, more like a limbo of sorts. Argument being most religions have some idea of some stage of the journey of the soul you have to overcome before you fully pass over. The Parasites keep you shackled in their limbo by abusing you emotionally, using your suffering for power, like Hellraiser meets the Matrix. Ct'an did it similarly, with a twist. They instead enslave the souls while maintaing the link to the body. the soul still resonates witht eh body, so they have complete control, and since the soul technically still is in their body, necrons have this tiny inkinlign of self. not enough for independence (mostly) but enought o have this vague sense of "loss" and "emptiness" wich is horiffying. they exist witht his sense of missing something important, but haveno idea what it is or why they need it.

    The fact that he as an almost universally hated character isn't because of bad writing (necessarily) but because the writing places him in his role so well.
    His role being that of a villain who is evil for the simple sake of being evil, or to reference a lovely film from recent memory, Erebus is "an irredeemable monster!"

I also want to add, that his factions in a nutshell videos are a bit outdated, so he might not tell something important, not mention some factions (Leagues of Votann, Farsight Enclaves and Exodite Eldar. Also he does a pretty bad job with Tau (not explaining the faction, but more talking about it in the narrative, style, and history in real life (only a bit of everything Tau above). Also I HATE, that almost no one mentions Exodites! They cool as everything else in Warhammer! Atleast they deserve a mention in this types of videos!) and misunderstanding some things, due to not enough dives into the lore (at the time of the video), as for example - when he talks about Angron. Later he would correct that and (probably) other mistakes in future videos, including Space Marine Legions video.

    So about that 1000 Psyker per day let me do some real world maths.
    Let us say for simplicity that a Psyker being born is a 0.01% chance. Or 1 in 10 000.
    On Earth in 2023, around 75 Million (75 000 000) people were born.
    Using that 1 in 10 000 statistics above, Earth in 2023 would have produced 7500 Psykers over the year, or around 20-21 per day. And that is just one planet that is not a super overpopulated wasteland.

    • @Airier

    for the corruption of The Warp, there's pseudo-physical warp entities such as the Enslavers (and others - Umbra, Psychnuein, Gyrinx, etc - that almost certainly existed/exist today) and Primal Warp Entities/Gods (Drach'nyen, Deep Warp, Yssarile, etc etc.), alongside the Blackstone Fortresses which are actively hinted at being an exacerbating factor on the Warp, which indicates that the corruption of the warp may actually be more to blame on the Old Ones then their generally ambivalent morality may indicate.
    For the Machine Revolt/Slaanesh, I tend to believe that the MoI came to the conclusion they did as a result of a LONG term plan from Tzeentch to distract The Emperor at a Lynchpin moment when he could have intervened (The birthing pains of Slaanesh are noted to have cause some pretty significant jostling in power between the Chaos Gods, as well as the initial conflict with the Aeldari Pantheon. A set of situations that an unimpeded Emperor backed by a Golden Age humanity could ABSOLUTELY interfere with) which explains why they may happen at the same time serendipitously, or at the very least the Machine Revolt happens in time to be in full swing when Slaanesh hate-fucks the universe.
    Some may not like the lack of information, but I think that the very little detail we have on The Emperor for fact is all we need, and any more information is actively damaging to his character. All we NEED or SHOULD know is:
    1: He despises the concept of Religion. both to cement the irony of his Martyr Cult and to erect the totemic center of his Character.
    2: He HATES the Chaos Gods. Not as a result of their actions, nor a personal dislike, but because of that referenced center of his Character, which is...
    3: He sees Humanity as intrinsically HIS. Not yours, not the flock of some God - be that YHWH, Allah, Buddha, or Chaos and the rest - but HIS. His people to command, steer, herd, and engineer as he sees fit. For what reason is immaterial and possibly actively better to leave unsaid. The further Irony of this is that he may or may not have accidentally created some of those religions views of God with his previous attempts to steer Humanity.
    Ultimately creating a character who - despite the fact he was responsible for a lot of AWFUL things - is the ultimate Guardian for Humanity in a cruel universe which would happily slaughter them.

    (NOTIFICATION FOR AUTHOR OF THIS VIDEO: Airier, please read this and write your thoughts about it (second thing is ENTIRELY optional). Leave your thoughts under this comment,this include other commenters too!) 50:18 It was NOT Starcraft, it was Warcraft 1 and even then it was only Execs trying to get Warhammer Fantasy IP to ensure it definitly sells! The devs, artists and creative team was heavily opposed to this, as they didn't want to get restricted by IP! Also Starcraft and Warhammer borrowed from same sources, that's why they can be similar, NOT because of stealing from eachother! At max, some elements of Starcraft 2 MAYBE was inspired by some elements of Warhammer 40k and it is more likely, that Warhammer 40k either inspired by or stole some elements from Starcraft 1&2 (Tyranid become what they are even today AFTER Starcraft 1 and become more similar to Zerg after Starcraft 2 release, even if in Starcraft 2 some elememts might be inspired by Warhammer 40k). Most of the maybe stuff is old lore, everything briky is saying is the known canon. Also alot of the theorys are just that even in universe if a character has a theory of how something works like say how ork teck works from belief that doesnt mean that how it actually works because we as readers have knoledge the fictional characters dont. So while there might have been a theory that the oldones created the chaos gods, we know that they have always exsisted in one form or anouther.
    Also with the primarks being sent across the galexy goes back to what i said above. We gave multiple ideas on what happened like chaos showing word bearers the primarks but that is most likely a trick by chaos as again as outside viewers we know for a fact erda the primarks mother was the one to send them across the galexy. Its not even a maybe or theory its a full blown fact as we are told by erda in person she is the one who did it.
    Also again the emperor is NOT a god. We know this specifically to the newerst HH book where he was becoming a god but gave up becoming one because it would mean the doom of humanity so we know because of this the emperor in 40k is not yet a god because becoming a god will be the birth of slaanesh 2.0 with 90% of humanity dieing and that hasnt happened yet so we can definitely say he is not yet a god. I say yet because those 1000 souls a day is slowly forcing him to become a god but when that happens (which will probably never happen as it will be the end of 40k) humanity and even the entire galexy is gone as the dark king is born as the 5th chaos god
