      Honestly I think my biggest beef is that Ksons are still relegated to Egyptian themes. There's SO MUCH you can do with a theme as general as "magic." Imagine the wide range of magicians and cultists you could work with.
      Also, Aztec themes for khorne when? FFS.

  • @crimsonknight7011

    Something to note is that they did the Buthers Nails to feel closer to Angron because unlike other Primarchs, Angron didn’t have his Primarch aura anymore. The Primarch aura was kinda like this thing that made the marines love/respect their gene father. However when Angron had the Nails put in, it took away this aura and many World Eaters felt saddened that they could not feel the same kindred as the other legions did. This however also made them not blindly follow Angron and they came to dislike him, tho they were already screwed from the Nails. I think if it wasn’t for the Nails the World Eaters might have had the most marines stay loyal to the Emperor.
    The Word Bearers probably had a ton of loyalists because they still saw The Emperor as a god and wouldn’t turn their back or faith on him.
    The Death Guard I believe had the most that stayed Loyal because they hated each other long before the Heresy with borderline civil war throughout the Legion. Even after selecting who to purge it turned out he hadn’t selected many loyalists that remained in orbit and warned the marines on the ground of the incoming bombardment and also ran to warn the Emperor.

    • @Dron-to4uy
      @Dron-to4uy Před 2 měsíci +2

      Actually, World Eaters had the most amount of loyalists, at least they send almost 40 thousand to die on Istvaan 3, while Death Guard and Emperor's Children send 30 thousands each

    Sssooo from what I remember, they kind of did some minor retconning with the Burning of Prospero since they realized that they'd made Magnus a little TOO sympathetic and also because GW loves the Space Wolves almost as much as Ultramarines in terms of lore. Now, Leman Russ apparently didn't want to follow Horus's fake orders and tried to contact Magnus, but Magnus wouldn't answer because he stubbornly felt he needed to be punished for messing up the Emperor's "let's burrow into and hijack the webway" project, and only changed his mind and started fighting back when his sons started dying. Of course, this requires both characters to act completely out of character, but apparently the new stance for 30K is "Leman was traumatized so much by the loss/execution of Primarchs 2 and 11 that even though he despised Magnus, he didn't want to lose another brother". Then again, based on everything we ever learn about Leman Russ and 30k Space Wolves, literally the only reason they didn't turn traitor is either:
    A) Horus never even tried to recruit them
    or
    B) Plot Armor
    Seriously, how does the Primarch who finds a way to get drunk despite that not supposed to be possible, who has so much ego and pride with his boasts, and is enough of a glutton to out eat a being who probably has ascended beyond the limits of the human body NOT end up falling to Slaanesh?

    46:13 I feel this on a *_personal_* level. Sapience vs. Sentience makes me twitch every single freaking time it's misused. So I get you and thank you for the lesson too!
    Edit: To add to the Raven Guard (because I love these guys), the other thing they do is that they go HARD into Guerilla Warfare, training and supplying trusted locals to start operations to destabilize power structures and enemy supplies/armaments while the scout marines on the ground start assassinating key leaders and scouting out key locations in the lead up to the Raven Guard openly and REALLY quickly invading and conquering the world in question. They are basically a more militant version of the Alpha Legion, right down to working closely with humans, they are also another legion/chapter that cares for humans, like there's a story of a Raven Guard Librarian talking shop with a Sanctioned Psyker in some down time, because the Librarian was a little curious about the Psyker. This is due to their Primarch's influence because Corvus was in the trenches with his fellow slaves on Deliverance while they worked together to fight for their freedom.

    Small issue. The Word Bearers ARE operating on faith because they don't fully understand how Chaos works and it's not super reliable, otherwise they'd ALL be Daemon-Princes or wouldn't ever get screwed over by Chaos. And there's the matter of the Chaos Gods not actually being gods in the truest sense, just immensely powerful psychic entities formed from the collective subconscious of all life, yet even the Word Bearers that are aware of this, even Lorgar himself, venerate them as just straight-up gods. Even if you want to be pedantic on what faith is, the fanatical reverence and trust the Word Bearers place in these beings that they barely understand is about as close to pure blind faith as you can get, and if faith and belief makes things in the Warp like the God-Emperor, then faith as it is classically defined is invalid in Warhammer because any faith equals a being in the Warp coming into existence to validate that belief.

  • @amwoodco3049
    @amwoodco3049 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Faith can mean belief through a jump in logic, yes, but that is not the exclusive meaning. It also means trust, such as "I have faith in you." The Word Bearers trust the dark gods will respond to their rituals.

    It really makes no sense to me to bring him back in the lore. I thought the Emperor destroyed his soul for good. Like, just make the model without making lore for it, you know?

There is literally Ultramarine Successors Chapters who actually biologically all sons of Traitor Primarchs, but the name Guilliman is protecting them.

  • @edim108
    @edim108 Před 2 měsíci

    56:06 Ok, that part is kinda wrong in that they weren't the only ones. All legions counted the regular humans serving with them as part of the legion and the majority of people serving in the legions weren't battle brothers. Regular humans crewed the ships, the vehicles, worked as maintanance, and fought on the ground alongside the space marines. Lotara Sarrin was the commanding officer of the Conqueror and the only person in the whole World Eaters legion Angron listened to, other than Kharn, and arguably the most vicious of the bunch...
    A good example of what that looked like would be the Tyrant's Legion in the Badab War. Unaugmented humans trained by and fighting alongside the Astartes in a single chain of command.
    Now that isn't to say they were seen as equals to the Astartes or anything like that in majority of them. Some treated them fair like Salamanders or Ultramarines and some were Night Lords...

    Edit: On the note on Faith, intentional capitalization, here's the thing, in fictional worlds with tangible results that word means the same thing as in our world because even despite the increased secularism of the late 20th and now in the 21st century to the faithful of [insert Religion here] the absence of scientific evidence for any of their respective beliefs is entirely immaterial as to whether they *think* it is evidenced, which is the important bit. Or in short: Faith doesn't imply a lack of evidence for a belief to the faithful, whereas "belief" more broadly allows for that doubt.

    In interesting point on every primarch being at least partially a psyker.
    The librarians of the World Eaters were hated by the rest of the legion for "having a painful aura".
    We KNOW Angron lost his primarch aura on top of losing his ability to empathetically take away pain an injuries because of the nails!
    His librarians attempts to help their brothers would hurt them more! They were shunned for the ability the legion was made for! They were locked away because any attempts to install the nails in s spyker Worl Eater caused terrible psychic shocks!

    • @PsychoticFruitfly

      psykers react with the Nails badly, regardless of how. psykers can cause migraines by being nearby, firing their powers too close to a Nailed Marine can even cause the Nails to overload and/or short circuit. putting Butcher's Nails in a psyker....... just makes a mess.

    Ooh now that I think about it…you should watch PancreasnoWorks! He had some of the best Warhammer 40k and Fantasy videos out there! He also has Halo videos aswell!

    Adeptus Ridiculous aka Adric is very good but the average episode is LONG. I suggest going through their abridged timeline of the Warhammer 40k uniuverse. It's still long but isn't say an hour and a half of laughing at how stupid but strangely awesome a certain model is until you really really want to buy it.

    45:05 To be fair, they don't speak English in 40k. They speak "Low Gothic" 😉

    You SHOULD go to Adeptus Ridiculos, especially since you CRAVE Warhammer 30/40k content from Bricky!

    Salamanders are boring. People who look at the 40K grimdark setting and just choose the good guys baffle me. You're missing the point of 40K.
