Hearing Tagalog being spoken warms my heart. Thanks for acknowledging the Filipino workforce in Hong Kong.

A bunch of comments talk about how this trailer gives nothing, and I think its like, we keep complaining how trailers basically tell the whole story or atleast the most important parts and it's pointless, but this trailer, it's like they've told you everything EXCEPT the most story-defining incident, they've left crumbs around to keep us guessing but left a gaping whole in the middle, intriguing and inviting us in to watch the whole thing to find out what really happens. It's like the perfect amount of suspense, and that's not even my favourite part but i love it!
This trailer says nothing.
Why is it that complicated to make a trailer that tells the basic premise and conveys the general vibe without showing the whole story or being extremely vague. I have seen wayyyyy too many movies where the trailer was extremely misleading, making it seem like it's one vibe and then it's a completely different vibe in the theater.
You are so right… filmmakers can’t win for loosing… they definitely can’t please everyone… but, even tho I won’t watch this… I appreciate the trailer not showing the entire movie in 2:47 ✊🏽🔨it! 🫡
issue with trailers especially movies that are relatively unknown is that if they provide too much info, folks will just say "trailer says it all. why still watch it" better if trailer just gives a teeny tiny slice for folks to want to see it
Yeah, I relate to this in general. Teaser/first trailers are the best trailers around these days, and it's no surprise considering how much is at stake to make that first impression for many.
Ive been obsessed with this gem. Love how they showcase beautiful Hong Kong. Such a good drama. Must watch!
@NicoleKidman-fq7lgyes. We love your continuous skills
Nicole truly sticks to her promise on working with female director every 18 months, Lulu Wang is her No.17 wonder woman. there're 4 female directors get in line also, 3 films and 1 mini-series.
And ?
@@elsaa1386 lots of actors using I-will-work-with-female-diretors-more or women-directors-need-more-opportunities to campaign their Oscar but never once did. Kidman is true to herself and girls.
Not every Actress has the luxury to be able to decide who they want to work for. Nicole's been established for many years now. Having that star power & status.
Many actresses in the industry can only get what they can. So it ain't up to them. If your trying to say that actresses should only work with other women. That's utterly stupid. Yes they should promote each other. But picking just one side. Seriously?
Why does it matter? How are we not past this yet? It should not matter the gender of the director.
@@ChosenOne1991 no, I'm talking about people like Cate Blanchett who says a lot on the subject but not even worked with one. many hypocrites in the industry, many promises got betrayed.🥲
Firstly, I've been waiting patiently for Lulu Wang's next project after watching her incredible film The Banquet and watching this preview truly moved me to tears. To see Nicole Kidman in this setting with a diverse cast and then to hear and see Filipino characters speak in Tagalog and helmed by the aforementioned Lulu Wang -- you can see why I'm absolutely moved by this.
I just watched The Farewell, and its already enough to make me invested to watch this one
Ugh. I generally won't even watch a movie with Nicole Kidman in it. She's such a bad actress. Plus I just don't like supporting anything she's in, because she's just a nasty egocentric person. Her plastic face doesn't help her bad acting skills, either, she can hardly move it now with all the botox.
To each his own, but I personally I think she ruins almost all movies she's in with her bad acting. Plus she makes such dud movies a lot of the time.
This movie might be interesting if she wasn't in it. But, honestly, probably not. It's just so an over-done subject - child is missing. Nothing original here, looks like a flop of a movie.
I caught the Tagalog too!
Why does a diverse cast has importance to you?

The Farewell was an absolutely amazing movie for the soul. This one looks no different
FYI this is going to be a series, not a film. :)
ah, so it's from the same director!
Love the way how the Hong Kong was being filmed … so an amazing and beautiful city. Amazing actors/ actresses! Excellent show!
Wow I love Nicole how she's evolving her self and character... Not being afraid to work with different actors from around the world. Kudos to her.❤
I love this international storyline and cast. It reminds me of other films like Lost in Translation, Cloud Atlas, and others
Where is the Mexican representation? Why do y'all insist on validating and codifying all you hordes' occupation of the Americas? Oh, yeah! Self-preservation. Self- reassurance. Justification.
Cloud Atlas!! What a masterpiece!!!
Oohhh so happy for Ruby Ruiz; she’s a great actress. I hope she gets more work internationally.
KIdman as usual, is a giant. The woman should have at least three oscars at home. I hope this gets the recognition it deserves
Giant is a good word. She's 6 feet tall
How can the oscars recognize her if we cant recognize her in the tv? Sadly she is botched now.

She did not do quarantine like all of us during pandemic in hk , we will never forget that and won’t forgive
As a Hong Kong Expat and all the years of bullshit inflicted upon many, I'm glad we get this production despite all the hyper sensitive, over reactive freak show HK was during Covid. I agree it felt frustrating that she had privileges, which is wrong, but, in retrospective ... im glad they were even able to produce this. If I was an actor, no money would have paid me to want to come to HK 2020 to 2023.
Just like how the show called "expat" rich white woman with her privilege and entitlement being treated special than locals
I believe the actors had to be quarantined for 45 days before they all met each other for the 1st time. One actress I know well & in the cast told me so.
So please stop expeculating or staying something you didn't research on beforehand.
This looks really good.

I can't wait to see it! I'm obsessed with all things Nicole Kidman. She's a genius!

This looks stunning!!! I need to see this NAO
In the book, Gus disappears in South Korea, Seoul. If that happened in Hong Kong at a street market the child would have been found in a flash. Here in Hong Kong, at the street markets, there are security cameras, patrolling police and customs officers watching hawkers everywhere. Plus there are so many China buildings around with young ethnic minority kids roaming around because they live in these regions with cheaper rentals. A couple of years ago, an African refugee's 4-year-old daughter was wandering in odd early hours of the morning on the Tuen Mun highway, the taxi driver picked her up and drove her to the police station. It was all over the news, looking for someone to come forth if they knew the child or mother. Also, in 2011, in TST a taxi driver drove to the police station to drop off a passenger's suitcase, when the police opened up the suitcase it was millions in Macau money, again it was all over the news for someone to claim the briefcase full of money, turned out that a tourist from the US left the suitcase in the taxi by accident while he was in a rush to check out of his hotel, he was getting late for his flight out of Hong Kong, when he returned to Hong Kong his briefcase and funds were at the TST police station, he said he won the funds at a casino on his Macau trip.
As an expat, I moved to Hong Kong with my sons because of safety.
Furthermore, expats are not spoilt, this is one of the most expensive cities in the world, and expat businessmen end up bankrupt. Those in high-end careers have to pay double taxes, their country of origin taxes, and Hong Kong taxes. The high-income bracket for US expats is high and the American Embassy keeps watch over them, it's a prison sentence if American nationals abscond paying their high-income taxes. This drama is far-fetched on many levels, the only realistic part was the one with the husband not returning home, common stories of expat marriages in trouble, their husbands are in Hong Kong redlight districts 😅
I have no idea what this or the description is all about. but still going to watch it and try to understand it.
I'm not going to waste my time. It looks annoying.
The description clearly spells out what this is about.
@@xyoxusyou know is always people that they no take the time to look more in the description!!
As one of three 'leash kids' from toddler to about five years of age, we drew the odd stare even back then but that damned leash worked. Dave Chappelle makes fun of leashes, but like everything they have their place.
My kid would run into traffic if he wasn't leashed. I didn't care who judged. My kid wasn't safe at 3 years old without restraint. Lol

A shame that Kidman and crew were allowed to enter Hong Kong and film while Hong Kongers had to remain under some of the strictest COVID lockdown rules in the World. They came and went whilst the rest of us had to endure strict quarantine rules.
Yea it's ridiculous indeed but I don't think entirely blaming Kidman on this is logical when it's the govt who allowed her to bypass all the procedures ultimately
disagree. she's nicole fucking kidman. don't waste her time with stupid covid regulations when she's a first-class, world-renowned artist
@@zer0rez_ I wasn’t blaming Kidman, I was making a statement that covered all involved.
@@blackforest825first class in Eyes Wide Shut, she was done during award season.
I can relate to ur comment. We had a very strict lockdown in Toronto, Canada as well but that didn't stop US film companies from filming during our 2 years of lockdown. The city + country hasn't fully recovered from covid still to this day but somehow sets were allowed to still film during the covid years w' so called precautions in place. Americans like to film in Toronto + Canada bcuz it is cheaper to film in Canada than America so for many generations films have been filmed here for ex. Suicide Squad (they blocked off all of Yonge St, a major street in TO. for the scene they shot there). And while we were told to stay home, news kept circulating about movies + tv shows still being filmed in some of our towns + cities....
it has the "lost in translation" vibe, I will check this out.
