    Rodgers should never have been brought back as his last year with us was appalling and he helped take Leicester down in his last job.

    Shades of the 10IAR season all over again. It's very hard to see how we turn this one around. Rodgers probably will get given the rest of the season as the board have backed him on a 3 year deal. If you think back to the start of the season, performances weren't great and he was confident we were only going to get better as the season went on. Unfortunately performances seem to be getting steadily worse, it's not a blip it's something far more concerning than that. I think we are in for a very long and dreary season.

The fans have been very tolerant & forgiving up to now, but we all know the Summer transfer window was a disaster, then Brendan tells us he’s not in charge of signings , we lose Starfelt & Jota, Kyogo goes from £30 million striker to nothing in a couple of months & the team is looking worse every week. When the low crosses have been coming in Kyogo hasn’t been going to the front post to meet any of them. I don’t see how thats on BR like a lot of people have been saying. He’s the man up front, he can run where he wants but the lad’s not in form. Oh is mince in my opinion, he offers little and Giakoumakis would have scored probably half of the chances he’s stuffed.
      Not got much hope for the board allowing much to be spent this transfer window, but we need a LB and DM as a top priority and more importantly someone with height and strength. Taylor and Calmac in the 6 doesn’t work.

    You all laughed when Rangers sacked Beale, but they took immediate action when they realised this man wasnt cutting it. Celtic won’t do this with Rodgers, no way they’re paying 2.5 years of his contract and then paying for another manager. I’ve said this for long enough, your board are ripping you off, but you’ve accepted this because you were doing better than Rangers. This has been going on for years. The meltdown today is spectacular and now any more dropped points while rangers pick up points could be a shark fest at Parkhead. You’re also going to struggle to get quality players in January unless you spend proper money. Still a hell of a long way to go this season, but there’s now title race on.

      I would actually argue that we took too long sacking beale, he should have been sacked when they beat us at ibrox in august. If we did that we'd probably be sitting 4 points clear with 2 games in and hand and the old firm coming up in two weeks. They can't sack rogers m8, i believe hes on a 4 or 5 year contract and is being paid 80k week, the highest managerial wage in scottish football history. You'd need to run the numbers, but were talking millions of pounds to sack him.

    We've been rotten since switching managers. Yes our transfer dealings have been shocking but we have gone from a dynamic free flowing football to turgid dross. The writing has been on the wall from early on.
    Hearts first goal should have been a foul to us. Shankland on his own because our defender was being bear hugged. Second goal was a great freekick but it wasnt a foul. No matter we were a shambles.

  • @matthewodonnell3704
    @matthewodonnell3704 Před 6 měsíci +4

    The first Hearts goal was well worked by them, poor from Celtic. They purposely blocked one of our defenders, we were man-marking so Scales stayed with his man who was also blocking off Shankland's marker. Why can't we be that clever at corners? We had so many corners and did nothing with them! We know we don't have a tall squad so lets be clever about how we try and get on the end of corners.
    Postecoglou had a team philosophy where it was all about hard work and constant energy and constant attack at pace. Rodgers was always going to struggle to get this group to adapt to his way because his "style" if you can even call it that is reliant on individual talent and there simply isn't enough individual talent in this group!
    I wasn't for Rodgers coming back but once appointed I backed him and I thought he could still do something. Clearly something isn't working. The players over the past 5 games or so have looked exhausted! We don't look as though we have the energy to keep going and pushing for more goals. We're just hoping we can get a couple of early goals and then sit back and hold on. That's one element of the Postecoglou reign that I didn't think Rodgers would get rid of but it looks like he has. Either that or we're relying too heavily on the same core of players because the strength in depth simply isn't there.
    Scales had to step forward into midfield at multiple times today just to get stuck in and win the ball back. McGregor is simply not a DM and Tomoki coming in to play there was a big help to us so it's a shame he got injured. We need a Wanyama type in there. Rodgers has spoken in the past about playing the 4-3-3 because it gives us midfield superiority and yet somehow that's one element of our play that has disappeared! We've got so many CMs but nobody who can seem to actually win it back when we need to and be an enforcer but not enough players who can actually break forward with the ball. McGregor started doing that at times today but whenever he did it generally came to nothing because he was still left with no options. Turnbull looks completely un-interested unless he can take a shot from distance. He doesn't move especially when he has the ball!
    Taylor - what position is he playing? CM? LB? who knows! He's all over the shop! Alistair Johnston on the other side isn't offering enough on the overlap which has been mentioned in this video but when up against a 5 man defence, even if he gets space for a cross he's got to try and beat 2 or even 3 defenders with the cross to find one of his teammates......
    Rodgers' stubbornness to not change things is killing us! He's so convinced his way will work if the players just execute it correctly that he won't do anything else even though the players clearly just aren't able to execute his style/formation the way he wants.

Shocking form, can’t put 2 halves of good football together never mind 2 full games! Defending at set pieces especially is scary to watch, our build up play is so slow most of the time and easy for teams to defend and we’re wasteful with the majority of chances that come our way. Need to give ourselves a shake big time, I know the January window/winter break can’t come quick enough for transfers and injured players coming back but we still should be doing much much better with what we have.

    My one input to your discussion, Brendan Rodgers…. He’s a perfectly decent human being but I’ve never understood the hype. Plenty Rangers fans weren’t at all disappointed to see Celtic reappoint him :) Michael Beale watched too many young Brendan (Liverpool) interviews and followed that verbose, cliche’d style. Back to the hype. Surely one thing all Scottish football fans - even Aberdonians can agree upon - since 1986 our game has been a 2 horse race. So….. what does a two horse race become when one of the two horses is removed or not yet fully back from a hideous injury….. ? That’s right - a one horse race. Brendan won trophy after trophy after trophy in a one horse arena. Accepting no one can argue with the “you can only beat what’s in front of you…” less than sophisticated argument. That is true. So Brendan led Celtic to all those trebles when Celtic had little in front of them. With my blue tinted sun glasses I’d have defended Rangers wins and managers in leagues with a wounded Celtic. (I’m old enough to remember the 90s….) But genuinely good mangers improve players and win leagues when their squads aren’t the best in the league; Billy McNeil, Wim Jansen, Walter 2nd time around. I wait to see if Clemente can do the same with Rangers. But Rodgers has dominated when he only could whilst failing to develop or inspire when that was the challenge.
