  • Autumn Running Day 2022 | At the Transport Museum Wythall
The channel is all things transport... because I like all transport. Including, cars, trucks, buses and trains.
If buses aren't your thing then no problem. There are plenty of car videos to come.
In this video we go to The Transport Museum in Wythall for the Autumn Running Day event where owners of buses generously bring their pride and joys for visitors to ride along in. This is bound to cure my want to buy a bus...

I was lucky enough to ride on the old BCT Standards before they came out of service around 1977, on the 11C from the Fox and Goose to Yardley when I was a small boy. I have been going to Wythall for 20 years on and off, it is a great day out for all the family with a great assortment of vehicles and rides out on the older as well as the newer preserved buses of the midlands plus some other operators too

The number 11C. Yes I used to get on it from Stechford (down the road for the F&G) in the 70s. Loved the Fleetlines but really want a MCW Metrobus.

Loved your video and like you loved these older buses. I agree the National is the only single decker worth talking about and like you I always used to sit in that same seat at the back on the right but mainly Fleetlines and that 1974 Bristol VR which were my favourite I loved the sound of those and ran a lot in my hometown of Wolves. Think I’m a little older as I remember being a kid on the Wolverhampton green and cream Guy Arabs which I believe were built in Wolverhampton. Open back ‘flying along’ to Castlecroft. I remember the Metrobus coming into service and they seemed so modern. I definitely need to visit Wythall soon

Many memories of travelling on the back seat of the Fleetline with the smell of diesel fumes coming through the heater grills. I think many buses over Wolverhampton were the Volvo’s? Hardly went on any as the buses servicing Bordesley Green were all Fleetlines and MCW’s. Wythall is a great and full day to do; particularly the open days. Thoroughly enjoyed and will go to one again in future. Thanks for watching and your support.

@@LivetoDriveUK thanks for your reply, I don’t ever remember the Volvos in wolves, mainly fleetline with a smaller number of RT’s until the Metrobus came along. Yes I know what you mean about the smell through the vents and loved the noise too. The Voith box in the MCW is so distinctive though.

Absolutely did mate. Love your passion for them same as me. Went everywhere on buses as a kid so got lots of memories. Love them Metrobuses and also the fleet line WDA700T. Used to like sitting on back seat in winter to keep warm 😀. It’s a great place and always enjoy going there.
See one of the old drivers on the 55 from time to time and he always remembers me. Happy days

Thankyou for sharing, what an amazing collection & museum, great to see so many running. Been a Hartlepool lad, we had blood & custard paintwork, all single decker 1970s / 80s, Leyland National, Dennis, but mainly Bristols. As you say the sound & smell of the engine would be amazing

A great day and Oliver just about stayed interested as I bored him about what I knew on Metrobuses 😂 The sound, the smells and the free bus rides all for £25 for the family. Thanks for watching 👍

I'm ashamed to say that whilst I share your interest in all things transport, and despite the fact I live probably less than 10 minutes away in a placecalledKingsNorton. I have never been to this brilliant looking museum. Need to rectify this

It was a great day and I cannot believe it took me so long to get there. They are not open very often and the “specials” are also rare. Well worth it.

I used to get on a Leyland Fleetline from my digs in the Hagley Road to work in the Bull Ring circa 1980. Also didn't Fuzz Start his working life as a mechanic in a buzz garage in Brum?

That must be where he got interested. Yes I didn’t know until I read on it. He has a 2 minute video on CZcams of his Fleetline. Being on a Fleetline brought back many memories. Thanks for watching and your comment.
