  • Fran, Myself and Dotty our Citroen 2CV Goes for a Drive
In this video we take our Citroen 2CV named Dotty out for a drive. The sun is shining, the roof is down, and Fran is looking rather French but don't let the sunshine fool you. It was blooming cold.

I was laying bets with myself as to when Fran's beret would give up the fight! Fun video 👍

It was as inevitable as taking the 2CV out for a drive because the big light in the sky made an appearance. Maybe my bald head acts as a slick tyre… sticking to the cap 😂

Hi Paul and Fran..Thanks for the video..looks like you had fun in the cool air! I'm waiting until next week to drive my All original 12k miles, Parisian 1987 2cv6 special in bleu celeste when it's a little warmer here in Detroit! And she never goes in the rain😎 Winter storage tip: inflate the tires to 32psi, it will help avoid flat spotting. I also keep her sitting on plastic mats, so the cement does not draw the moisture from the tires and cause premature aging. Happy 2cv motoring!

Thanks. Wow. 12k and original. Do they salt the roads in Detroit? Bleu Celeste is a lovely colour. Thanks for the tip regards tyres (we spell it different over here, maybe that’s why we drive on the other side of the road 😂) we try to make sure we rotate the tyres on cars that don’t get used for weeks. Also like the logic for placing mats under. Thanks for watching and all the best with your 2CV.

@@LivetoDriveUK You are welcome! Yes, they do salt the roads in Detroit, but she only goes out after it rains and the salt has washed away in winter time, plus she never goes out in very cold temps. I'm half English and I spell tires correctly!😉 The colour is so nice in person, she screams PARIS!! Over inflating the tires by about 10 psi is the best way to stop flat spotting and move them (cars) from time to time. I'm looking forward to your next video, talk to you soon!
Happy 2cv motoring on the wrong side of the road!! 😆

Excellent. If you visit UK you will probably find some people drive on the right side of the road (for you) as they are drunk or just stupid 🤷‍♂️😬😂

It's been very hot over at my end and I think we're in for a hot weekend as well. Funnily enough on my drive out yesterday I saw a red 2cv coming the other way.

The weather doesn’t have any idea what to do. Does look like we need to get a car with no roof out this weekend…

The plastic cover has to go on the grill, when the outside temperature in daytime is below 15°C. This is for the engine, the oil temperature and the petrol can't freeze in carburetor! But if you leave the windows closed and the heat pointed at your feet, my experience is, them temperature is quite nice! But don't rem it so much! (if the engine has to 'work' harder, it will give more heat too)! What you do with the Deux Chevaux is cooling the engine more than necessary! My daily drive is a Mehari 4x4!

We have a sticker on the windscreen about the muff. As for the revving, that’s interesting as the owners I know including a specialist, say otherwise. For us, providing there is good quality oil in the engine and it is sufficiently hot, I’m happy to rev. Does this mean our car is running at high revs all the time? No. You have watched a short edited video. What I do though is not allow the engine to bog down. How many revs is it doing when sitting at 60mph?

I am afraid, I don't do miles (I'm metric) but the speed I maximal do is between 80 - 90km/h... These gems are not build for driving at motorway speed.... Can you imagine, I went on holiday with a folding caravan to Morocco 😊! Really look on the internet for a Paradiso-vouwcaravan(gran-paradiso). That was in the time, that sat-nav didn't exist! My mate navigated on the stars with a sextant (really it's called that way)! That apparatus is used by sailors!

You two are so funny, when out in Dotty!
Great to see some 2CV action again on your channel.
Is Dotty actually French built - or (like my Dolly (actually from Portugal?

So we’re not funny in any of the others… 😂 I think she is French (Dotty). Thanks for watching and your comment 👍

It's an absolute misstory to my, why you English rem the 2cv engine so much; that's not necessary! I drive these aircooled cars all the time. But, when I watch videos of you or Ian (hubnut) both of you have no clue! By the way, if I am planning a trip, I will be seeking for an easy tour, somewhere in the country.... ❤

Might be related to 2CV specialists that say the same. Us English will just keep on revving 😁
