      Was wondering about that because the 2401RG has a true queen size bed, and that was one of the BIG sell points for us with it. We normally have 3 mini Doxies that sleep in bed with us, and the "short queen" in the 1790 we had was rather crowded at times.

    Wow, love all of the storage, well almost all, the one cabinet needs either a hanging rod or shelves. But it is big enough to stack blankets and pillows. Small kids against the wall of the dinette. No oven, no problem. Glad to hear it is a true queen. I like that the outside door for the bedroom without a window is perfect. Great trailer for retirement.

    Purchased a 2022 2529RG in December 2021. Already been out for a week trip over New Years. We love it! Our TT has duel air conditioners; one in the living area and one in the bedroom. Both will run on 30 amps. I like the windows on both sides of the bedroom. You can have ventilation across the room without having to have the door open all the time. Front and back steps make it easy to access the trailer in storage. Also keeps the trailer clean with keeping the steps outside. We have no complaints about the rig! Looking forward to more adventures.

  • @StratRider
    @StratRider Před 2 lety +10

    Pros: Love the fluid tank sizes AND it has some nice cargo weight available.
    I like the shorter length rigs and the rear kitchen also.
    Also very fond of having seats or a couch directly across from a dinette.
    The corner medicine cabinets are a great idea also.
    Cabinets all around the best are excellent.
    The massive front cargo hold and to be heated too - outstanding.
    Appears to be plenty of room on the roof to expand the # of solar panels
    Cons: The storage to the right of the seats should have been on the left and been usable as pantry space.
    A 4 inch fan above the bed - Get Real - this would be changed out before I took it home.
    Overall: This is a unit that other manufacturers should be taking a look at to make their own. Impressive.
    Oh, good job for you too on your presentation Josh.

      You're the 2nd person to mention flipping the "pantry" and sofa in the slide. I like the idea, but then I worry that the sofa would face the wall instead of the window/entertainment.

    Winnebago: 1st in class in my dads day, 1st in class in my day, 1st in class everyday!!. Sad that people look past them. 1 love this layout minus the fact they don't offer an oven and if u leave that flip up extra space tray in its upright position and close the slide, u wont have it anymore, nor the side of the cabinet its attached to for that matter. Winnebago has always offered storage everywhere, the '92 Winnebago motorhome I have now is the same way...abundant storage, nicer amenities, quality workmanship in fit and finish. I like it!

    This layout is why we bought our 2020 2401RG. They stopped that model and now have this one. I like the corner sink layout better on this one but I prefer our bathroom layout better. Ours has two bathroom doors...one from the bedroom and one from the main part of the camper. I like that better than this new layout because we can easily access our bathroom with the slide in by using the bedroom door...comes in handy when we're traveling.

    • @tracyperry6231
      @tracyperry6231 Před 2 lety +2

      I love our 2019 2401RG... and honestly I prefer the kitchen layout in it to the 2529RG. The placement of the 2401RG sink actually gives you way more cabinet space for our normal use of a Keurig, toaster, crock pot and other counter top cooking items.
      I also like the fact that our 2401RG has more storage in the bathroom itself than this trailer does, making the keeping of towels and stuff handier to anyone needing them.
      The ONE thing I do wish the 2401RG had was the theatre seating instead of the crappy fold out couch it came with, but that's something I intend to rectify myself shortly.
      Our 2401RG has been a SOLID trailer since we've gotten it, only having one QC issue with a leak over the right front cap of the trailer where the moulding joined the roof. They got a little cheap with putting any sealant on there and it ended up lifting from the roof itself and allowing water to leak in under that area and then travel down the passenger sidewall and around the window and leak into the "table" between the bed and the wall. Took a few days of trial and error to find the issue but once I did I put extra sealant on all four corners of the trailer where the moulding and the roof connect.

      We were the same for a long time... until we had power outages in our area of Texas and it was REALLY nice to be able to go out and prepare a meal in the RV and bring in back into the house (dutch oven chuck roast as an example). Kept us from having to simply eat out of cans' or eat fried foods.
      Now that we've started using it, I can't imagine not having it on hand. We do use a pizza stone in ours to distribute the heat a little better (we have a 2401RG, the precursor to the 2529RG).

    We have the 2108DS Minnie and love it. This new Minnie is awesome. Winnebago made the right improvements with rounded cabinet hardware and doors for the storage area above the bed. Better access to connections by the bed and I like the solid exit door on the bedroom side for more privacy. Plenty of storage space. One thing that may go wrong with the countertop extension is forgetting to put it down prior to pulling the slide in. Would also be better if the solar connection was placed on the exterior of the camper, instead of the front storage compartment.

    Nice layout! I am one of those who wants a propane oven in the kitchen. If you have one of those nights where you don't want to plug the RV in, you would still have an operational oven. You would lose some storage below the cooktop, but I think this trailer has enough storage overall to handle the loss of a drawer.
    I agree with you, the portable solar connection should be outside........even if it's a little box on the trailer tongue. I would think Winnabago would know better than that. Being the batteries live outside on the A-frame..........I suppose one could install an additional portable solar connection and a fuse near the batteries and you would be good to go.

      If you like this one, then look also at the 2401RG (think the 2529RG is the version that supersedes it). It's VERY similar and the precursor in many ways to this floor plan. the 2529RG has some +'s over the 2401RG, but in some ways the 2401RG has some over the 2529RG. The 2401RG still has an actual propane oven in it (very important for us even though we do have a iGen 4500DF generator for boon-docking). We have the 2401RG and we really love it as it's a great combo of good storage, plenty of space for getting around (important for 2 larger adults, 3 mini-doxies , 1 of which is blind and a 110 collie/heeler mix) and it also has the benefit of actually having a door into the bathroom direct from the bedroom and more room and storage in said bathroom than the 2529RG does. The only downfall to the 2401RG is you can only get the crappy couch and not the theatre seating last I checked.
      I pull ours with a 2019 Toyota Tundra SR5 4WD and have had no issues so far.

I'm seeing a LOT of issues lately in the FB Minnie group with the newer trailers with slide problems, and it is a direct result from either no or faulty framing around the Schwintek slides. They seem to be pulling away from the trailer walls, usually on the lower left as you face the slide on those trailers. One thing I miss in our 2401RG (basically same trailer as the 2529RG) over our old 1790 Drop (that had a tree fall on it 8 months after buying it) was that the 1790 had a convection/microwave combo. I don't know why they didn't do the same in the 2401RG then we could have had the best of both worlds... a propane oven for when we are camping and then a convection for the smaller stuff when we were on generator or shore power.

I’m tired of looking at my neighbors “front yard”. ❤️ the rear kitchen!! ❤️ the space at the foot of the bed. ❤️ to see that they haven’t skimped on awning size! ❤️ the cupboard space! ❤️ that you can get snac-tastic, then take a nap and crap when boon-docking! 🤣 ❤️❤️ that they FINALLY got rid of those stupid crank windows and put in sliders!! (Even if they’re up or down or side to side, hey, they slide!!) 👎🏼Not grooving on the color of the cabinets. It’s all too matchy-matchy. 👎🏼 Needs a little more wow factor, like light fixtures, or window decorations. Will never find a bathroom as big as ours. ❤️ the thought of potentially keeping your bedroom floor warmer with that heater in the under compartment. Oh, one more thing. I Love Winnebagos and think they are a top notch travel trailer. I have had 2 and I had surprisingly little issue with them. I question the 1/2 ton towable category. With a GVWR of 8800 llbs it only leaves about 135 lbs for truck cargo in my max tow 1/2 ton. I wish I weighed only 135 lbs and forget about bringing the wife and kids along. 29 feet long is alot of sail area for a cross wind to push a 1/2 ton around. This one is better suited for a 3/4 ton especially in the mountains. If you travel light it may be possible but thats not likely.

Josh, you didn’t mention what type of slide mechanism it has. And is there a shoe corral under the bench by the door? We have the door shade in our 2018 2250 DS from the factory. If referring to the white/gray pull handle, the 2401RG has two gray water tanks (this is the precursor of the 2529RG). One is for the kitchen sink in the rear of the trailer and the other controls the gray water from the bathroom then you have your standard black tank. I think Winnebago corrected this issue (as it required use of two different dump valves) and finally combined them all into one larger gray tank. The gray denotes just that on most of the Winnebagos, but some of the newer ones in the COVID rush apparently are using black handles on all valves and then labeling them as black/gray (and reportedly doing that incorrectly on some of them). And note, these cables are the weak point of the design of both the 2401RG and the 2529RG as they tend to "stick" as they get older and you have to then cut the belly and replace/repair them. In the 2401RG they were installed contrary to Valterra instructions, and the same probably applies in the 2529RG as even though Winnebago has been told of the issue for several years in the 2401RG they continued with the practice of incorrect installation. It's just something that knowledgable 2401RG owners are aware of and expect, and the overall trailer plus's outweigh that niggling little issue if you are 1/2 mechanically competent.

      @williamgates4399 Před 2 lety

      @@tracyperry6231, I did not see the drain fitting. I have two gray tanks, just like you described. But all my tank pulls are on the driver's side of the trailer. I have a mid kitchen and rear bath. So mid-way is the kitchen drain and the rear of the trailer is the other gray and black tank drains. Like this trailer, I have to put in my slides to get to that kitchen gray drain, which is not an issue. I usually fully dump just before I pull out of my spot. That is almost the very last thing that I do. I leave electric and water hose for black tank flush and the electric to keep battery charging. Thanks for the information.

    Love the reviews, have learned so much over the last 3 yrs
    My question is, how does Winnebago compare to Grand Design customer service after the sale

      I lack the experience to really be qualified to answer that for you and don’t want to just make up an answer
      Sometimes the best thing I can tell someone is “I don’t know”

      Grand Design stomps the crap out of direct Winnebago customer service after the sale from what I have seen comments on. I know the local Winnebago dealer (before he got his dealership pulled) was a joke. And trying to get any help from Winnebago lately (post COVID) has been like pulling teeth for many Winnebago RV owners.
      Heck, Winnebago has recently discontinued selling RV parts direct to the consumer, requiring you now to go to an "authorized dealer" to get any parts.
      I'm sure that part of that is due to the COVID supply issue, but for us that the nearest Winnebago dealer is a 2-3 hour trip (1 way) away it causes issues. Many of us are probably actually more "qualified" to work on our RV than a dealers service tech is in many cases (or at least in my experience in my locale). The "good tech" is few and far between at a dealer, as most of them end up going out and doing their own RV repairs as a mobile service.

    Love the Winnebago, but I disagree about no window on the bedroom door. It looks off. If you do it for one door and not the other it pulls my OCD out.

      It definitely looks odd, but I am a function over fashion guy myself. That doesn't mean my opinion is a better one or anything - just different strokes for different folks!

    Again price was surprising. I figured that it would be double in price. It’s a Winnebago I figured it would be pricey.

      Their trailers have never really been that far out of line
