- Welcome to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil...the city with the most bars per capita, in the world!
When Mineiros say they are going to the beach, they really mean that they are going to the Brazilian traditional bar, better known as boteco.
Our friend Thiego took us to a famous boteco/restaurant called Cafe Palhares to try its famous KAOL dish. This Brazilian food was out of this world!
Then we went to Sapucai before we met up with more friends. We met up with Bruno and Livia at night at the oldest bar in BH, Bar do Orlando.

I went to Minas twice and it was incredible. The thing about Minas, every restaurant the food tastes like home made, like your grandma just made that food with all her heart for you. And it's REALLY cheap compared to Sao Paulo's prices. I remember I drank Guaraná Mineiro and Zap Cola and it was less than 2 reais for 2 liters and both were delicious.

BH é foda em termos de botecos assim. Aqui no Brasil não tem nada igual. Sou de SP, trabalhei em BH por 3 anos e pude experimentar essa riqueza. Eu tive que pedir aos meus colegas de trabalho para pararem de me levar nesses lugares. Estava engordando muito, mesmo com muita ralação na academia.

Em Belo Horizonte tem um concurso famoso chamado Comida di Boteco que se espalhou por Minas e depois por todo o Brasil . Belo Horizonte é totalmente diferente de outras capitais, pois a cultura de boteco é como de time de futebol, as pessoas se reúnem como um time, alguns vão uniformizados. Esse tipo de comida em botecos é ma refeição completa, há muita fartura de comida em BH e o que você compraria em São Paulo com 12 reais, apenas um salgado, em BH você compra pastéis recheados de frango, pão-de-queijo e ainda paga o refrigerante !
Eu conheço esse tipo de restaurante como "Bunda de fora", e aquele em que você senta e é servido no balcão. Aqui no Rio tínhamos o saudoso "Eskimo" que ficava no centro da cidade, normalmente esses lugares tem uma comida maravilhosa. Pelo sorriso deles ao comer, creio que esse é o caso .

It's good to see that you are enjoying Belo Horizonte and Brazil I live in Congonhas Minas Gerais here you have the works of the famous Alejadinho who made the twelve prophets in soapstone.. the churches here are very beautiful to visit, there are also the waterfall parks beautiful place to spend the weekend ,and there is still a new museum to visit with beautiful works, it is close to the church ..
