The 3 Gillette Super Speeds

Today we are shaving with three levels of aggression.
The Gillette Super Speed in blue tip, Silver tip and Red tip. Those three were the predecessors of the Gillette adjustable range of razors. People wanted variety in aggression of their shave.
The blue tip is B4, 4th quarter 1956
The silver tip is A3, 3rd quarter 1955
The red tip is a C1, 1st quarter 1957

I can tell you are getting better at lathering. On some of your early videos, some of your lathers were a bit too dry. I think you are starting to realize you can add a bit more water at a time and build up a wetter lather. The ideal point is when your lather has a shine to it but still stays on the brush like yoghurt, basically you can keep adding a few drops of water at a time and stop right before it gets runny.
I see you like adjustables. If you end up getting one of the german adjustables I would recommend the Merkur Progress over the Futur. The futur only adjusts from aggressive to even more aggressive. The Progress truly offers all sorts of efficiency levels.
Great shave today ! you gotta find what routine works for you in terms of how many passes and that depends on the aggressiveness of the razor you use etc.

@@Heiko-shaves very nice, I think you will like it. I enjoy fine tuning my shave. For example if I haven’t shaved for several days I might do the first pass with setting 4 or 5 and then on second and third pass dial it down to only 2 or 1 as most of the stubble has been removed to avoid irritation.
By the way it seems like Merkur should have named the futur: “die zukunft” instead but it probably wasn’t very recognizable or understood internationally

Three more satisfying razors, very nice.
I use a boar hair and have done from the beginning and never had an ingrown hair, and love the massage it gives. Enjoy the shave.

Fantastic looking razors and a lovely shave. One thing I have found recently, is I like to put my more aggressive blades, like a Feather or Nacet in my milder razors and something less mild, like a Wilkinson in my more aggressive razors. Works a treat for me! I think one of the nice things about your videos, especially for people who are nervous about starting wet shaving, is you have shown how quickly it is to get the hang of it.
