I have to say, Harstem has fantastic balance between entertainment casting and informative insight. I didn't watch the match live, so I'm watching it here. And I think I enjoy this commentary a bit more than the ones from the main live casts. Thanks for the speedy upload!
When it comes to breaking down high-level plays for metal-league plebs (like myself) - and explaining why certain build-order choices are good/bad - Harstem is the *undisputed G.O.A.T* 🐐🔥

Idk... He is constantly saying "things don't make sense" that actually do. He is a great player but he views everything from his playing experience and not from the slightly higher level of play he is casting. Sure, he definitely points out mistakes that are true mistakes - but he rarely explains why things work and doesn't do well painting the whole picture. He is so concerned with timings and simcity that he often misses some metagaming the players do to each other.
I fricken love Harstem's casting! His jokes are so dry and sarcastic, but he's also so knowledgeable about the game and therefore very informative. Best SC2 caster

@@chythompson1222 Depends on what you are looking for. If you just want to be entertained and want commentary on the rudimentary happenings, then yes. If you want to get insights in the intricacies of the game, then not even close.
@@chythompson1222 Artosis used to have extremely good insight. However all he does is play Broodwar now and is no where on the same level of knowledge as someone like Harstem.

@@wmzer0mw Tempest rush is very viable in pvz, If spire/Hive is late then they can just stay in the deadspace behind 1 or 3rd base and oneshot drones. I still agree with you though overall that Trap played far beneath his usual level.

From what i've seen, "pro" Protoss players tend to almost always play the same way regarding ZvP (some early Adepts, an early Void Ray, turtle, then Skytoss with some HTs) because that's so easy and effective that there's no reason to think of anything creative or interesting, especially since the actual APM requirement eases rather than gets higher throughout the process. I don't understand why Zerg players bother scouting anymore in ZvP because it's not like any variance will actually happen.
@@joshuakim5240 Im not talking about that-- I'm talking about their obsessive use of warpgate, within the first 2 minutes of the match... As if that tech is required to get-- when all they need to do is defend, and put out units, then expand with more than the Zerg has at that time... Using the regular gate-- yields them 1 more probe they could get, early on... Plus they literally have the same amount of units out, at the 5 minute mark-- that I would have with a regular gate... Pathetic, obsessive-compulsive disorder-- for going warp-gate, when they don't need it that early.

Also don't forget that they tend to rarely even use a warpgate outside of the rare zealot drop (which in itself never happens earlygame so they really do waste time getting warpgate tech so early). It amuses me how much they value getting a production tech quickly when they never even make real use of it until midgame at the quickest.

@@happyirl5799 it's the same with all cloaked things it SC2. Everything cloaked distorts the light a bit, even stationary things like stasis, or observer or ghost aiming nuclear strike. You better see it if you move your camera. You can easily miss that. It just shows how fkin great Serral is that he sees Oracle in the opponent's army and knows "be careful, look for stasis". He's just that good.

Incredible casting! The deeper technical analysis shed light on parts of the game I wasn't aware of, especially in the early game which I normally think is boring, I was captivated as Harstem explained the little tricks and mind games. Additionally, the humor and jokes were highly entertaining, like this guy takes comedy classes in his free time. You are on another level my friend! I will be checking here first for my SC2 fix from now on.

Have i already told you I really love your content? Let me say it again. I reaaaally love your content 🔥
Even though Trap is a world class SC2 player, this was painful to watch for me. I could gaps the overall players' skills in terms of mistakes made that in many more closely matched SC2 games, just don't go that way. Also, it was clear in the later games that Serral could tell he was just playing better so he knew he could and should go all in after a failed specific strategy of Trap's occurred. If you believe your opponent is on your level and they defended a specific strategy (including some stuff that maybe is consider cheese), that's not an immediate cue to come over all-in style across the map. Yes, there is an advantage state given, but the counter-attacker can still over extend and the now-defending player can make the right adjustments before the army arrives. Again, I'm saying Serral had to put in effort in all of these games, but he ultimately knew he was the better player by a comfortable enough margin, he could just finish the games the way he did.
Great casting and i loved the series! Im a Serral fanboy so i dont mind the stomp :)

It helps voidrays fight queens immensely. Typically when the queen walk hits you only have voidrays so you want your investment (the voidrays) to be as effective as possible.
I don’t usually chrono boost adept if I open stargate voidray. I chrono boost adepts way back when I need them fast for two adepts harassing but zergs are getting better at defending it. I always wonder why pros always chrono boost adepts, now seeing Trap first game no chrono boost really makes sense. However, it’s not much difference to be honest. I’m low master by the way, used to be top master when at peak.

The day before this game was played trap beat dark 3-0. He also beat parting 3-1. Trap looked really good against everyone except against Serral this tournament and that's why he was in the finals (and lost).

Trap usually plays in worse-than-usual state at grand final games, especially in long tournaments. He got 4 GSL runner-ups. He got smashed by Dark at last GSL final, but he just beat Dark at quarterfinal several days ago. It seems to me that his mental preparation for long tournament grand finals is not stable.
he beat dark at quarters of this one I think. But before that Serral already beat him. So second time they met in this tournament. And the first time they met arguably he played better but still can't do anythnig to Serral. His history of matches is not good vs Serral too. I think this is because the top Korean Zergs don't play like Serral so he doesn't really have much practice with that.
This game was amazingly lopsided.
Trap played so poorly, I'm almost certain he threw these games to have Serral win the Grand Finals.
Maybe nerves on fighting Serral? Trap doesn't have good record vs Serral. And they met at group stages and Serral already trashed him there. Or maybe he's not used to Serral s playstle because he doesn't play like Korean Zergs

Serral GOAT talk….how long before he ascends to the plane of excellence that Life held early on in SC2? I know people always cry about the match fixing, but how come he got punished so hard, when a lot of other top players, who are still around today, got very little if any punishment. I feel like this should be a serious documentary.

As someone who was a diehard Life fan back in the day I have to say that if other players weren't punished enough, they should be and not the other way around (i.e., being softer with Life).
Also; yes, Life was sick but Serral is way above that plane since long ago. He flew on a Viper above the Koprulu Sector back in 2018 and his legacy is far away from any SC2 player's reach, including Life. Serral would crush him and make him look like an amateur like he did against everybody that year and today, also because the level of play is higher these days.
