Damn playing a late game against Serral feels like a nightmare
No one can beat Serral late game except another zerg like Reynor
I'm pretty sure that for 99.99% of the population, playing any stage of the game against Serral would be a nightmare.

@@jimmyvelasco1570 Clem is a mid-game monster, his 3-base pushes and timings are probably the best in the world, but Maru is the Terran that has mastered late game to near perfection.
@@qcdoomqc yeah, maru is the top Terran overall, because of his TvP, TvT, and late game, however clem is the best TvZ, and he is improving, let's hope he keeps climbing

neither of the casters seemed to mention it but in game 3 did serral run most of his banes into the nexas? I heard catz say great play by serral because the sentry didn't forcefield but then I don't see how blowing all the banes on the nexus seemed like a misclick. but I could be missing something.

@@pg8971 ye just a click and not serral kiting with 4 different control groups while using 3 individual spellcaster abilities and if max hadn't thrown his templar away he wouldve had to split too. He literally probably had 1000+ apm in the final fight alone

With that army maxpax is playing way too passive. He is scared while having an ultimate army.
Ever heard of a thing called spore crawlers?
The thing to remember about Skytoss is that it tends to be irreplaceable from a combination of being way too expensive and slow to reproduce said army if it gets wiped or too many are destroyed. It's a weird situation where the toss player is extremely powerful yet also vulnerable because that army getting wiped out in any way is an automatic loss for the toss, and to win they have to attack into the enemy's home field advantage which tends to be filled with static defense at this stage in the game.
@@joshuakim5240 Agreed. Skytoss of Carriers, Tempests and Void Rays coupled with High Templars and Disruptors is powerful. But Gateway units coupled with Immortals and Archons are just waaay more spammable and mobile for multiple prong offense.

The move at 16:50 has to be the most amazing play I have seen in years.
Send Ultralisks first to take the damage and kill the templars.
Send infestors to slow down the protoss army with fungals and back off.
Send the vipers to parasitic bomb the slown down army to make it take maximum damage from it.
While all of this is going on make sure the corruptors do not engage before the protoss army is as weakened as possible else they would just evaporate in 2 seconds.
After the damage from the spells is done then send the corruptors in to finish off the protoss army.
Every single one of these steps could go very wrong and if any of these misses, then you lose the fight. You need VERY precise controls to be able to execute all that as it is very easy to mess up. Serral is showing us the zerg dream.
I'm even more amazed at the build up, as the situation for this army composition and not getting rolled over by the skytoss before you ever reach it is also very complex. Having perfect positioning of army, counter attack at the correct timing all the time and not getting greedy and always have only one base lead takes so much patience. This is just crazy.
I always love games where the protoss guy builds his huge army in the first 5 minutes then sits there and does nothing for 20 minutes. Very enjoyable.

Serral's brain works in an incredible manner. I haven't played starcraft in a very long time.....however the amount of shit he pulls off still seems absolutely absurd.

Are these castors serious? Is it going to be enough?!?!? Literally has double the amount of corruptors of the protoss's entire army and a bigger army supply as well, while fighting over spores.
If you dont have more than double corruptors than protoss has units, you cant even kill carriers efficiently. You needd something like 2.2 corruptors atleast vs carriers. Afterall, if 4 supply could CRUSH 6 supply units, then those 6 supply units wouldnt be great.

Maxpax's attempt at making an insane protoss army but got completely outplayed, this is a lecture on how to not play skytoss.
His micro just isn't good enough to manage that army properly. Walking the archons with the army at the end was pointless, they were just wasted dying to the brood lords. He should've attacked another position with them or saved that supply for more void rays, in my non-pro opinion.
@@SeventhSolar void rays are terrible and you should not make them at all if you want to go deep late game, 6 archons and 6-8 templars, 4-5 tempest and the rest carriers. Try to get a favorable fight close to shield batteries.

@@SeventhSolar lol ofc the archons did not do anything in this case because the toss played completely wrong all the way, archons are essential for late game skytoss armies to protect the templars, (without templars you just get a-moved and crushed by viper-corruptor) and also their splash is great vs corruptor clumps who swoop in to take shots at carriers, archons and storm are the big damage bursts vs the corruptors.

As a Zerg player, infested terrans were pure cheese lol. There was virtually no limit to how many infestors you could make, if you had too many you'd just spam infested terrans everywhere. And they initially had weapon/armor upgrades.

split your corruptors in the last fight in game 2 and pick off the weakened air army 2 at a time. Reducing the army 2x as fast is way more efficient. cant wait til players figure the game out

Completely disagreed. The entire point is for the unit to be punishable, because it has 14 sight range and can spot abducts coming from a mile away.
P already has mass recall as a hard-to-punish retreat mechanism.

Pretty obvious that ToD hasn't touched the game in 3 years. I'm not even a fan of Creighton's casting, but its hard to argue that the casting community isn't a good ol' boys club at this point. Way too many of these casters are getting by on their past rather than their present. Including Tastosis.
Tastosis is much better with Brood War (notably Tasteless), and it's obvious they're more passionate about it as well. I've been watching their ASL casts and it's been a blast.
Serral is so fucking good. But his playstyle is a bit boring after doing the same thing for many years (make it to late game, populate the map with static defense forest, wait and yonk 1 or 2 units at a time with Vipers).
I think that is how the matchup is. His matches against terran don't end like that.
@@shadowpriest2574 nah, I mostly see this from Serral. I'm not saying others don't do it, but it feels like that's what Serral only does. Don't get me wrong, the man has probably the best late game of all SC2, but it gets tiresome to see this playstyle in particular.

If i recall, the reason why Serral plays this way is because he did try to play differently several times to mix things up but that almost always failed and led to his recent losing streaks. It's not that he doesn't want to play differently, because he clearly does, but because he can't play differently if he wants to win since nothing else works in lategame ZvP.

@@joshuakim5240 all I am saying is that I find this particular playstyle boring in the long term. He can play however he prefers, I'm just a spectator. Like I said, I still think he his the best current late game SC2 player. But in the last year and a half or so, I've been enjoying a lot of Clem and Reynor, Byun, PartinG, Zest. All of these players are so dynamic(some of them also dramatic in their losses sometimes). The one other thing I could say about Serral is how good he is at creep spreading (it's kinda insane)

As if any air army from Protoss or Terran can ever beat the Zerg combination of Infestors, Corrupters, and Vipers.
I just skipped to the end because I knew exactly what was going to happen since Blizzard made corrupters the most OP air unit in Starcraft history.
I've seen plenty of pro players just march 10 corrupters into an enemy base, taking fire the entire time, and burn down their buildings in a couple of seconds, then fly away with perhaps one loss that is immediately replaced. Same with air engagements. Corrupters are tanky, do tremendous damage, and are fast. They lack range, but that doesn't matter when a small group can one shot any enemy unit.

A small group? It takes 20-23 corruptors to one shot a carrier, and if their number goes below that they overkill a lot.

I know serral is great love him! But Protos really sucks, too boring to watch, and I am not talking about this game. At least for the last 5 years, Protos is so weak.

Zerg so ridiculous... they have every bs advantage... can pull units they fungal units they can shoot off units that attack while pulling back they have lings which are op and cant do run bys ... they can burrow lurkers they have unkillable ultras its just annoying and unbalanced
Maxpax had lots of flaws in the game which allowed serral to get to the position he's in. maxpax could've applied so much more pressure in the early and mid game but he didn't. And at one point he morphed all his templar into archons which is a mistake. Zerg is a more difficult race to play than protoss. Protos s has the easiest spells to use like storm and it is very rewarding without any risk. Vipers need to get close to abduct things maxpax could set up templars in front of his army and feedback the Vipers. Feedback has longer range than both Vipers and infestors. The game is not imbalanced at all maxpax just made mistakes and lost
