@Bogdan Bulai I believe zerg is the hardest race to play. I think terran is OP nowadays. Drilling claws shouldn't exist, simple as that. Or make it much harder to get so it's more of a late game thing, Not something you can get at the 7 minute mark. Zerg has nothing to deal with that at that point in a game.
Anytime serral loses he looks like this. He takes losses very seriously, which is why he is so good.

@@immanuelkant718 Depend on the match up. Clem pretty much always do well in TvZ, but Clem can’t beat Maru in TvT, and both of them struggle against Protoss.
Would adding a handful of Hydras down serral any good here? There where so many mines and medivacs having some ranged support would feel really nice.

I'm a Toss player at heart, so ZvT doesn't really apeal to me... But when you have Maru and Serral playing? Not a StarCraft fan on the planet that won't enjoy this matchup

@@yawgmoth6568 Before this series, Serral was beating up Maru the last 3 times they met (KoB last year, TSL 6 and NeXT this year), with the map score of 7-1. So yeah, Serral kinda winning decisively. But I am glad Maru finally changed his style in TvZ, those time Maru lost to Serral, he was playing the fully passive turtling game, allowing Serral to take control of the whole map and do whatever he want. As long as Serral could find a crack in Maru defense, he would always win. But this time, Maru has been the agressor all game long, forcing Serral to react and making mistake, and I love seeing Maru winning this way.

All kings gets slain eventually. But man that game 2 with that reaper staying alive and fighting past 13 min mark. I wished Maru let it drop some grenade to them Queens and let them bounce and then Maru pounce them as they will die while airborne like Byun did vs dark in 2016. But yeah hard to micro that I see.

Have seen some many times that Serral beat terran players without giving them any chance, but Maru simply crush Serral without giving him any breath time. As a terran player, Maru is my sole KING OF TERRAN ! ! !

As always @SC2HL, super appreciate the editing you've done. Justifying watching a 50 minute series is hard sometimes, so this 30 minute duration is perfect
It is nice to see Maru adopting the old style of hyper-aggressive mid game again. His recent style of sitting behind PF, ghost, and liberators wasn't seem as effective and certainly wasn't as fun to watch.
Yeah, while Maru is probably the only Terran who can win by doing full turtle style in TvZ, he is showing that he can also win the matchup with full agression, taking control in the early game and never stop the pressure. Against guys like Serral, or Rogue, who like to play with more control and a bit defensive and relying on counter, this is the better style. Against guys like Reynor who just want to push, fight and trade units every game, then Maru can win with the densive style.
The match up when all SC2 fans been waiting for so long!

I hate the fact that he has lost so many times to Trap in the past year. He still hasn’t figured out how to defend Toss early aggression.

No, Maru and Trap are pretty even, their record are 5-5 since 2020. Its not like Trap was dominating the matchup or something, Maru just didnt play well in the recent GSL and made certain mistake that he would not make normally. And its not like Maru is completely underwhelmed in TvP, he lost only 4 TvP series in 2021 (2 to Trap, the other 2 during the GSL group that Maru had to play on the same day with the DH Global Final). Maru still has a 72% winrate in TvP games (mostly from KR) in 2021. Meanwhile, the next 3 best TvP are Clem, HM and Cure who can only get around 50-60% winrate against KR Toss.
If Maru can move pass the thinking that TvP is too hard for him, and actually play the right opening, he can also dominate the TvP as well.
Damn! Good to see the competition catch up with Serral. The Night King will be back again 🐐
This is the first time I'm seeing Maru win against Serral, the King may be back. Clem/Maru making Terrans proud.

@@TheThigh lol give me a break...Zerg is the easiest race to play. The required apm to dodge banes by Terran is ridiculous, also ling s run rampant without a counter because they're so fast they get free expo kills or just all the scv's.

Yeah, and the apm to keep up with another race of equal mmr as zerg is almost double.
Besides, banes have already been nerfed twice. And if you’re still having trouble, Terran has tanks, mines and marauders. And Protoss hardly ever has to deal with banes since they all go mass void ray.
No reason for you to be whining. Seriously, leave 1 mine at your base and you stop your bane problem.

Serral is struggling a lot more recently, don't get me wrong he still slaps anyone who isn't top 5 but it's nice to see there is actually some competition now
its definitely has to be Maru to command earth’s armies when aliens invade
TvZ is always an uphill battle for Terran.
Zerg enjoys a wider variety of specialized units, can change entire armies/composition nearly on the fly, and just as easily replace units which means can easily suicide in exchanges - infact it's encouraged - and not come out a loser from it.
Terran needs a strong Thor-tier unit that has high vs Bio units ala Flamer Hoverbike capability to deal with Zerg.
Currently the most effective way is to have some ghosts and snipe/nuke and pray for luck.
No, Zerg isn't imba. Terran just need some proper counters.
Maru is truly a wunderkind for being able to beat Serral the way he does.
What the hell did I just read. Terran has a counter for literally every zerg unit. Hell they have a single late-game bio unit that counters all of Zerg's late game. And you want to give Terran MORE options to counter Zerg?

Serral needs to keep a control group of queens at his hatches for injects. Larvae is a resource, he cannot afford to run out during those drawn out battles.

I think his emotion control is what makes him so resilient and able to come back from hell, whereas Serral is a bit more susceptible to tilt. Like, I don’t think Maru ever did a single g in his career

did not think Maru would win but pleasantly surprised - don't get me wrong I think Maru is the greatest SC2 player of all, just that late game top Zerg with lurkers etc is just nearly impossible to beat and Maru successfully stopped Serral from getting there this time.

GG Maru, guess Serral needs to incorporate some lurkers next time or something. It's a shame though that static defense for zerg pretty much sucks and I mean spine crawlers. Compare that to bunkers and overcharge + cannons and batteries. They should bring back Starcraft 1 sunken colonies. They seemed way stronger.
zerg doesn't really need as much static defense as the other races, because its all about having better vision and using that to defend attacks

Question, what is the answer to mass mines?
IMO, roaches to ravagers, but mainly detection. Serral stayed in lingbane which hurts his macro. And with Maru's pushes, its hard to transition.

So serral can hit 1360 apm in short bursts. Maru is outmicroing 1360 apm.
why was rogue able to 4-0 Maru with just roaches every game in the GSL finals last season but Serral never builds roaches all series? (I think it was rogue maybe it was dark) was that build just figured out or maybe serral just doesn't believe it is very good? seems like it would be good since Maru seems to prefer widow mines more than most other Terran players
If it gets scouted early enough, it can get easily defended and auto-put you behind as a zerg. Only Dark is known to be able to come back from failed roach attacks, maybe Raynor sometimes. And you know Serral avoids high risk high return strats
You can't repeat what Rogue does. Rogue also 4-0'd both Zest and Classic in Katowice finals after they beat Serral in the ro4.

I guess Zerg was really disadvantaged the last 3 years and barely won any championships, so lets complain about balance. It was all about skill with zergs, nothing about the race itself :)))
If more top 20 terrans had a set of balls like Maru then the top 5 would be a terran lock out. Seen Cure, Clem, Hero and Byun run away from fights they could win and press the advantage but they bitch out, medevac out and then for some reason allow the Z or P player to remax. Drives me nuts as a terran player..
Well, thats also how Maru lost his games as well. He tried so hard to attack non-stop and get countered by ling runby or Chargelot/DT. There have been cases where Maru could have just stayed home and macro/tech up, he chose to take a risky fight and lost. Maru is the best defensive TvT player in the world, and has shown that nobody can crack through him if he wanted to turtle up, and I just wish he does that more in TvP rather than go gun blazing everywhere.
