Parliament - Watch heated debate by DA John Steenhuisen on Second Reading debate: National Qualifications Framework Amendment Bill. EFF mocking Steenhuisen on his qualifications. *****

Lesson learned, Steenhuisen is not to be messed with. I wish our parliament had such quality of debating more often. Steenhuisen set a standard and we were watching EFF trying desperately to match him.

@Yutube Lurker You are right, it seems insurmountable to jump from 8% to 50% but in politics you don't necessarily needs 50% to influence policies. Today in South African political landscape EFF is influencing policies with just a mere 8%. So now that ANC may be below 50% (this is just my opinion though) they may need that 8% to retain power if they agree on certain policies. ANC and EFF have already agreed on Free Education Policy, Land Expropriation without compensation, and many more to come. Don't focus much on the leap from 8 to 50 but rather on what EFF is able to do even with just a mere 8%.

Mpho Mashigo Steenhuisen never lied. It’s not a parliament requirement to have a diploma or a degree to be an MP and Steenhuisen also never managed a SOE into the ground. Big difference he? I respect John Steenhuisen because I think he is an excellent Chief Whip who knows all parliament rules of by hart. When he rises on a point of order he quotes the exact right rule without having to look it up, something that neither the ANC parliamentarians or the EFF can do. We have lot of blacks in varsity studying to be in parliament but we have few whites in varsities yet are employed everywhere employed in good jobs.
That is because they are competent and can do the job. They are qualified for the jobs they have. You don't see many whites in universities because of affirmative action and because they are simply outnumbered by black students because the whites make up 8% of the population. Whites are now studying overseas.
