    Whenever your feet get wet dry them with clean piece of cloth then just apply petroleum jelly normally used for skin moisturizing. Petroleum jelly works as protective film and don't allow fungus to grow.

      @FootGeekzTV  Před 3 lety +2

      Do you live in a humid climate? Sometimes sweat may accumulate between the toes which creates moisture even in sandals that can cause skin breakdown. Also, make sure you dry the area between your toes with a towel after you come out of the shower, as residual moisture there can also cause issues.

    Thanks for the video! I have battled athlete's foot for years, using the sprays, drying between my toes, etc.. My big toe nails now for the past several years have had this weird issue, like they won't grow! And they also have a bit of yellowing/thickening towards the cutting end of the nail.. Not sure if this is ingrown or mild fungal infection, but I do EVERYTHING right, switch shoes every other day, wear cotton socks, the only shoes I wear are breathable sneakers for work, and I even have them very loose, and when I get home, I immediately remove socks and shoes, dry brush my body (lymphatic system) before showering. Using all sorts of remedies, foot soak with epsom salt and tea tree oil. But my big toe nails just won't grow at all! It's been a few months at LEAST since before November. Not really any pain, just some mild tenderness if I use my dance slippers during exercise. Now just doing the dancercise barefoot. All the other toenails grow just fine, (slow, but that's normal) but these dang big toes will not grow, so I don't know how I'm supposed to grow them out??

The nails changed shape, I have one toe with a weird additional, easily snip-able nail that looks ingrown with none of the pain, pain in my second toe and clubbed shape, an overall change of toenail shape, thickened nails, pinky toe nails that fall apart when attempting to trim.

      The reason I ask is that footwear that's too tight can add pressure on the nails, which in turn causes them to thicken and deform. This makes them appear fungal when indeed they're not. Be sure the footwear doesn't cause any additional pressure on your nails and that you have about 1/8th inch of space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.

    LYSOL SPRAY KILLS NAIL FUNGUS. BETTER THAN ANY OTHER TREATMENT. So like a year ago I hit my toe so fucking hard it got bruised and bloody. Some how the nail got infected and started growing a thick nail on that one toe, but on both of my feet... which is weird I didn't hurt the other foot. Somehow they both shared the infection. Well, we have recently been spraying our running shoes with lysol... sometimes I don't wait for them to dry and eventually I was like occassionally spraying my feet with the lysol spray.
    Long story short. It's quickly killed whatever was on my toe nail. Now it's going back to the normal sized nail.
    It's way better than any store medicine.
    You probably don't want to spray your feet if you have cuts on them or cut too closely on your nails exposing sensitive areas...
    I know some older people have really bad nail infections and the store shit doesn't work. Lysol really does work for the stubborn nail infections.

    I stupidly stopped washing my feet for about one month and now I'm getting bacteria/fungus/irritation in between my toes and toenails and even toenail beds. Some of my flesh the size of a grain of rice now protrudes out of one of my toenail beds and is laying on top of the cuticle. I was checking it out so I pulled the skin on top of my cuticle up and I pulled that swollen flesh out from under the skin and now it just sits on top of the cuticle. I was able to push this flesh back under the skin posterior to the cuticle when it was a little smaller but for some reason I decided it's best to keep it exposed. Now I'm reluctant to touch it before I know what to do. It is swollen and red and highly susceptible to infection. My instincts are telling me to do a soak in some (alternating cold/hot Epsom salt?) water and of course keep it clean. How should I treat it? Thank you.

      We mentioned soaking feet in a bucket of water with a drop or two of tea tree oil. Some people also seem to have good results with Vics Vapo Rub. However, of primary importance would be to reduce moisture buildup on the foot. Change socks daily or twice daily if need be. Use shoes with more ventilation to prevent feet from sweating as much.

      The moisture trapped between the toes is most likely causing skin breakdown. You may want to consider toe socks, add a piece of loose wool between the toes or try foot powder to reduce moisture build-up. Be sure to dry very well between these toes when you get out of the shower to prevent any water from getting trapped there.
