It was a guy who wrote the guardian article on Jay Shetty. He was on the H3 podcast talking about it recently. He was originally hired to do a puff piece on him but started uncovering all these inconsistencies in his story and when he brought it to their attention, they killed his story. It's fascinating actually because spiritual gurus are becoming very popular and like Heather said, he has a lot of celebrities that endorse him but it turns out he's full of you know what 😂

The journalist was a guy and the original article was for Esquire, not Vulture. Esquire killed the article when inconsistencies cropped up, and the story was then picked up by The Guardian. The journalist’s name is John McDermott and he was also on Keya’s World yesterday.

The least he could do is be the eccentric type who wears robes and live isolated in the wilderness but he's just another pretty boy stage vulture.
My grandma was so wise i grew up in the 80s and when i was a kid she never allowed me go to what they used to call a slumber party. I used to think she was so mean but now i know she was protecting me.

You are spot on Heather, you don't reward dishonesty or someone who validates celebrities with bad behaviours.
If someone lies from the beginning, and does not come clean, they can not be trusted and more likely still lies.

Almost every single one of my ex-boyfriend has started off the relationship with a lie. I’ve never understood why you would pretend to be something that you’re not when you meet somebody. What happens when you get to know them better you have to keep lying? The one boyfriend had a kid and didn’t tell me, one of them told me he was a doctor when he wasn’t, and one of them told me he was a virgin when he wasn’t. I don’t understand people.

I hate to say this, but I've always gotten the feeling that Jonathan could be super high maintenance with tons of drama swirling around him. It's not hard to imagine at all, sadly.

In my opinion, Shetty has garnered a huge following, and celebrities have latched on because these people all go on each other's podcasts, name drop and stroke each other's egos to stay relevant. Any spiritual growth is from being around this guy is a complete accident.
Yes, he sold 'a$s kissing celebs' as being spiritual. I don't trust anybody selling spirituality or motivational speaking. Guru's, gods, muses or 'I had an epiphany' - all that cr@p, I just don't buy it. We all have shifts in our lives or awakenings, just not all of us go around putting fancy words to it or selling their experience as something so unique that it must be shared with the world! We all have different upbringings, incomes, loves, family and live in different parts of the world and just trying to get on in life without some bull$hitter selling you spirituality by comparing you to Michelle Obamba, Oprah and J Lo.

My Grandmother was Native American and a Sensitive, Healer, Empath, Psychic....all these qualities that weren't called that then. She taught me alot and told me as a child I had her gifts. I did and I do. She also was very adamant when she told me this "You should never charge for your gift of healing or knowledge." I never have. I know I'm probably alone on this belief. The majority of these people are phonies and grifters who have a negative dark life condition feeding off an occult and hanging up a neon sign in their window. Please ask around and if you need someone's advice or council go to one who has many recommendations and it doesn't cost you alot. Please be careful!

Oprah had me fooled for years. With that authentic self stuff she spewed. An absolute opportunist. Her latest denial of using medication to lose weight while lecturing everyone the only way was through healthy eating and exercise. Turns out she did. The thing about liars is that they under estimate everyone else's intelligence.

I almost feel like men lie more than women . Trying to embellish their status or make you think that they are someone they are not. The last boyfriends that I’ve had all started out with a lie. One claimed he was a doctor, he wasn’t. The other had a child and never told me. And one pretended that he was a virgin and he wasn’t.
But even thinking about my neighbors(most of them are in their 30s) the guys are all liars. They lie about the amount of money they have they make up stories and bullshit.
High fashion has become so degrading and humiliating. Hard pass.

There was a popular girl in my school who would always have sleepovers in her mansion. Her dad was an orthodontist. And he was such a creep! I was too young to realize at the time, but looking back on it he was always trying to catch us changing, and he was always coming downstairs while we were sleeping, it was so weird

Heather- if you haven’t already read it, there is an excellent newer book about Jackie Kennedy called Jackie: Public, Private, Secret. It’s a great history of her, lots of juicy scoop and goes in to why her relationship with Lee was so strained. Also talks about Jackie’s mom, who sounds like a “Big Kathy” kind of mom. You would love it!
Jackie's Mother was a Socialite who felt marrying Jackie's Father was beneath her. She was cultured and came from old money. Kathy, Kim and Kyle's Mother didn't come from money, wasn't cultured, an Alcoholic, stage Mother and very crass. I would agree they both pushed their Daughters to marry well.

Shetty is not the only fraudulent guru. There's also Sadhguru who might have potentially offed his wife. He said that she basically meditated so hard that she passed away. He cremated her before there could be an autopsy. Her family wants justice. Celebs seem to ignore that and flock to him. These gurus are mostly about ego and money.

One would, if they are clearly not appreciated. She put out an episode without video. She got chewed up for that. However, in the meantime, people don’t subscribe, they don’t hit like button, they don’t share. She is not really making that much of youtube, she is doing this for us and she wants to feel appreciated.

Heather the audio book that the swans is based on and it was so juicy! After the first episode I couldn’t wait I needed the story!
I listened to it too in audiobooks before the show just to have my homework done. Watching g the show is so much better after listening because now I know who’s who and that backstories. I loved the voice that read the book too!
And his wife looks like his niece, Jay Shetty is creepy and I know what I know about the world and no one can tell me someone who I clearly see isn't good is good. The world is insane.

I also am loving Feud. But I agree. I find it difficult to recommend a watch because of Capote’s voice and personality (via actor portrayal). Also agree the book would add depth, and probably more juice to the overall story. Love your podcast - keep it up.

Okay, world - here is a simple concept we need to spread from the households to the white house - if you are not happy in your own life, you do not get to make decisions for other people on how to be happy in their lives. The only people I want even attempting to make laws for how I live my life are the people who have it totally figured out in their lives in terms of being happy. Just because I know what makes me happy doesn't give me autonomy over anyone but myself, and being happy is what allows me to know that and handle the responsibility of helping others' happiness thrive. We give power to people who aren't happy in their own lives to make decisions about how we live ours and I will never do that now that I realize that's what the problem with the world is and why I am different is because I am ACTUALLY happy. Not "fake happy lying to myself, want to be popular will you be my friend do you like me" happy, actually real got honest with myself and changed my life happy the rest of the world can think what they want I love me and I love the day-to-day life I created for myself type of happiness- now I am just waiting on other people and the world to evolve and catch up.
